RHR-CD-266 • Release Date: May 7, 2013 Ruth Moody, the Juno-Award winning songwriter and member of the beloved Wailin’ Jennys, has announced her long-awaited US tour following the spring release of These Wilder Things, her second solo release for Red House Records. The album’s transcendent collection of songs received acclaim from such publications as American Songwriter, Huffington Post and The London Telegraph, to name just a few. Now, after a European tour with Mark Knopfler (at his invitation – he appears on her album) and dates in her native Canada, Moody is bringing her band and songs to the U.S. starting on October 2 for a full month of dates that will take her through the Northeast and along the West Coast, including stops in NYC and the Bay Area. (Scroll down for complete itinerary below.) An impressive follow-up to her debut The Garden (Red House Records, 2010), These Wilder Things was recorded in Ontario by award-winning producer David Travers-Smith. Featuring performances by her stellar touring band as well as special guests including Mark Knopfler, Jerry Douglas, Crooked Still's Aoife O'Donovan and fellow Wailin' Jennys members Nicky Mehta and Heather Masse, Moody’s collection of originals sound both fresh and timeless on these recordings. From the haunting gospel sounds of "Trouble and Woe" to the bluegrass-flavored "One Light Shining" (featuring Jerry Douglas) to the Celtic feel of "Life Is Long." She also delves into darker indie-pop sounds, especially on the title track and the haunting "Pockets," which features Mark Knopfler on guitar and vocals.
