2 Using your Pay as you go on your Oyster card Using pay as you go is cheaper than paying cash for most journeys. With pay as you go credit, you can travel as many times as you like in a day (from 0430 and before 0430 the next day) and you’ll never pay more than the cost of an equivalent Day *. The system calculates the daily price cap based on when and how you travel. Your card is charged each time you travel until you reach your daily price cap. This includes pay as you go travel on bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground and most National Rail services in London. River services and the Emirates Air Line do not contribute to your daily price cap. Oyster cards are reliable but benefit from being kept separately from other cards. Season tickets on your Oyster card You can buy a Travelcard or Bus & Tram Pass on Oyster. You can use a Travelcard to travel as frequently as you like on bus, Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services on the dates

3 Transport for London and across the travel zones you’ve paid for. Your Travelcard must cover all zones you travel through. which include either Zones 3, 4 or 5 can also be used on trams. Bus & Tram Passes can be used on all displaying this sign and on trams on the dates you’ve paid for. A £5 card deposit applies. *Does not apply for travel to/from Grays, Purfleet, Ockendon or Chafford Hundred.

4 Transport for London On Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services Always touch in on a yellow card reader at the start of your journey and touch out at the end to ensure you pay the correct fare for your journey. If you don’t touch in and out you will pay a maximum Oyster fare of up to £8.30. You could also get a or be prosecuted. On bus and tram You only need to touch in at the start of your journey on a bus and before you board a tram. Bus & Tram Pass season tickets (valid for 7 days or longer) can be used on all London Buses and trams.

5 Transport for London On River services Get 10% off Thames Clipper services when you use Oyster pay as you go to pay for your ticket. Show your Oyster card to the River services ticket seller and they’ll issue a paper ticket. The fare for your journey will be deducted from your pay as you go credit. You can also get 1/3 off most Riverboat fares if you have a Travelcard on your Oyster card. On Emirates Air Line Discounted Pass fares are available to customers with any type of Oyster card on London’s cable car. For single journeys use your Oyster pay as you go by touching in on the yellow card reader. For a 360° tour you will need to buy a Boarding Pass at the ticket offices. The reduced rate applies when you show your Oyster card.

9 Transport for London Frequently asked questions Q: What should I do if I have a negative balance on my Oyster card? A: Add credit to clear the negative pay as you go balance before you next travel. You will not be able to travel until you do this even if you have a Travelcard on your Oyster card. Q: What should I do if my Oyster card is lost or stolen? A: To report a lost or stolen Oyster card go online at tfl.gov.uk/oyster or call the 24 hour Travel Information line on 0843 222 1234*. Your credit and/or season ticket is safe only if you have registered it.
