THE WESTERN COLLEGIATE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

In a historic vote, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association established a new women's league at its annual meeting last April. The unani- mous vote followed a year-long planning process. The women's Western Collegiate Hockey As- sociation will begin play in 1999-2000 and will include a 24-game conference schedule and a year- end league tournament at a site-to-be determined. The WCHA will consist of the following seven schools during its initial season of competition this winter: • Bemidji State University • Ohio State University • Minnesota State University-Mankato • St. Cloud State University • University of Minnesota • University of Minnesota-Duluth • University of Wisconsin

Davidson, who earned a bachelor of science degree in physical education/athletic training from New Hampshire in 1992, was a three-sport standout -- softball (four years) , volleyball (four years) and basketball (one year) -- at Duluth East High School, where she graduated in 1988. She completed her second year of head coaching duty with the College of St. Scholastica (CSS) softball team this past May and was also the Saints' head trainer. Prior to her appointment at UMD, Davidson was employed as a certified athletic trainer at Center Therapy of Duluth and as the head athletic trainer at the CSS . Davidson also served as head softball coach at College of St. Scholastica for the past two years.

A native of Salisbury, New Brunswick, Wilson graduated from Acadia University in 1987 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education . She has nine years of teaching experience as a physical education teacher at J.M. Armstrong High School before coming to UMD. Wilson was inducted into the Acadia Univer- sity Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998 -- the only woman to ever be so honored.
