Each event consists of a qualification and a final. Both phases of the men's event will take place on one day, and both phases of the women's event on another day, with the following format: Qualification • Two routines: one voluntary routine with 10 skills (with four skills counting difficulty) including set requirements and a second voluntary routine of 10 different skills without limitations. Final • The top eight gymnasts from the qualifications, including all tied for the eighth place, will perform a single voluntary routine of 10 different skills without limitations. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE FIG WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AND THE OLYMPIC GAMES Fewer gymnasts can compete at the Olympic Games, and only individual trampoline gymnastics is recognised as an Olympic discipline. The FIG World Championships also feature synchronised trampoline (two competitors on separate trampolines performing simultaneously), double mini-trampoline and tumbling events for both genders. There are also team events for individual trampoline, double mini-trampoline and tumbling at the FIG World Championships. There is an all-around team final at the world championships, which includes all events (individual trampoline, synchronised trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline) for men and women. CHANGES SINCE THE RIO 2016 OLYMPIC GAMES The code of points has been changed: • The "horizontal displacement" score has been introduced. SPORT RULES AND PROCEDURES Rules for Olympic competition Each routine consists of 10 skills on the trampoline bed. Competitors must submit a competition card before the competition, listing the skills which they intend to perform. The routines are judged for difficulty and for execution. Time of flight and horizontal displacement are evaluated electronically. GTR --------------------------- --_02A Report Created THU 1 JUL 2021 09:30 Page 1 of 3 Ariake Gymnastics Centre Trampoline Gymnastics 有明体操競技場 トランポリン / Trampoline Centre de gymnastique d'Ariake In the case of the first routine, all the skills must be performed as stated or a deduction will apply. Competitors begin on a signal given by the chair of the judges' panel. After this signal is given, the competitor must initiate the first skill within one minute; otherwise there is a deduction. The starting order in the qualifications is decided by a draw. In the finals the starting order is by rank, with the competitor receiving the lowest score from the qualifications starting first. Jury composition There are nine judges appointed for individual competition: Chair of judges’ panel, two difficulty judges, six execution judges. • Difficulty jury (two judges) - calculate the final difficulty score. • Execution jury (six judges) - evaluate the quality of the actual execution (technical faults such as lack of form, consistency of height and control in each skill (0.1-0.5pts); final landing (0.1-0.2pts); etc. • Time of flight - the evaluation of time of flight will be done electronically (controlled by chair of judges’ panel) • Horizontal displacement - the evaluation of horizontal displacement will be done electronically (controlled by chair of judges’ panel). Distribution and calculation of scores Difficulty (D): Open score - depending on the level of difficulty included Execution (E): Each of the six judges evaluates the performances independently (maximum score 10.0 points). The sum of the two median deductions of the execution judges is taken as the deduction per element, then the sum of the median deductions [considering landing deductions] is subtracted from the highest possible execution score [max. 20 pts] to give the gymnast’s execution score for a routine. Time of flight (T): The total time of flight measured to 1/1000th of a second is considered as the score for the time of flight. Horizontal displacement (H): The evaluation of the horizontal displacement (maximum score 10.00 points). For each qualification routine and final: final score = D + E + T + H – penalties (if any) Example: D: 11.500 E: 18.000 T: 18.455 H: 7.500 P: - 0.200 Final score: 11.500 + 18.000 + 18.455 + 7.500 - 0.200 = 55.255 GTR --------------------------- --_02A Report Created THU 1 JUL 2021 09:30 Page 2 of 3 Ariake Gymnastics Centre Trampoline Gymnastics 有明体操競技場 トランポリン / Trampoline Centre de gymnastique d'Ariake Tiebreak rules and procedures The FIG tiebreaking rules are presented in the FIG technical regulations and define how to determine which gymnast should prevail in case of equality of points. In trampoline gymnastics, the main principles are the following: Qualification In case of a tie at any place, ties will be broken by the following criteria: 1. The sum of the execution scores of both routines. 2. The sum of horizontal displacement scores of both routines. 3. The sum of the time of flight scores of both routines. 4. If the gymnasts remain tied, they will share the same classification. This may mean that more than eight gymnasts qualify for the final. Final In case of a tie at any place, ties will be broken by the following criteria: 1. The execution score in the final routine. 2. The horizontal displacement score in the final routine. 3. The time of flight score in the final routine. 4. If the gymnasts remain tied, they will share the same classification. Penalties/disqualification rules Penalties occur out of the performance (e.g. exceeding time of warm-up). The penalties are deducted from the score of the next routine. Failure to abide by the regulations, or unsportsmanlike behaviour, are grounds for disqualification. In such instances, the gymnast may first be given a warning, and then would be disqualified if the misconduct were repeated. Score inquiries Inquiries are allowed only for the difficulty scores. They must be made verbally immediately after the display of the score and then must be confirmed in writing. Only the accredited coaches in the competition area are entitled to submit an inquiry. Late verbal inquiries will be rejected. NOCs may not inquire about a gymnast from another NOC. Every inquiry must be examined by the superior jury and a final decision (which may not be appealed) must be taken. The detailed procedure is outlined in the FIG technical regulations. In exceptional circumstances, the FIG might issue an "official communication" (C67) with an explanation of the situation. • Trampoline Trampoline Is Part of the Gymnastics Family of Sports, Where Gymnasts Perform Acrobatics While Bouncing on a Trampoline
Trampoline Trampoline is part of the gymnastics family of sports, where gymnasts perform acrobatics while bouncing on a trampoline. Qualifying – the road to Rio Qualification is based on the results of the 2015 World Championships, held in November in Denmark, and the 2016 Olympic Test Event in April at the Rio Olympic Arena. Medalists from the 2015 World Championships qualified a place at Rio, and then the next five best- ranked men and women qualified a spot for their countries at the Games, with a maximum of two athletes per country (eight spots each for men and women in total). New Zealand was just outside the required placings to earn a Rio spot via the World Championships, but earned a country spot at the Olympic Test Event. Young trampoline star, Dylan Schmidt, has been selected to attend the event. From the Olympic Test Event, the top five men and women will qualify a spot for their countries, with a maximum of one athlete per country. Brazil, as host country, is guaranteed a maximum of one competitor across both genders (one male OR one female gymnast). There is also a continental quota – there needs to be at least one athlete from each of the four continents. "To be part of something amazing, like the Olympic Games, with such an amazing athlete, how can you not get excited! He is not only the most talented, he is also the most focused, most determined and most importantly, the hardest worker.” "We have the opportunity not only to be part of history, but to create history.

  • Trampoline Gymnastics: the Brazilian Participation at International Championships – the Olympic Games Still a Dream
Bortoleto, M., Carrara, P. & Roveri, M.: TRAMPOLINE GYMNASTICS: THE BRAZILIAN … Vol. 10 Issue 3: 467 – 483 TRAMPOLINE GYMNASTICS: THE BRAZILIAN PARTICIPATION AT INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – THE OLYMPIC GAMES STILL A DREAM Marco Bortoleto1, Paulo Carrara2 and Murilo Guarniei Roveri1 1University of Campinas, Faculty of Physical Education, Brazil 2University of São Paulo, School of Physical Education and Sport, Brazil Original article Abstract Since the modern trampoline was built by George Nissen and Larry Griswold around, 1934 in USA, this equipment and its use has suffered drastic changes. Its development was decisive in order to Trampoline Gymnastics to be included at the Olympic Games program in 2000. In Brazil its practice started in the 1980’s, and has been only integrated the Brazilian Gymnastics Federation in 1999. The purpose of the study is to analyze the Brazilian participation in the international trampoline gymnastics championships. Data collection was performed by the documental and bibliographic research of main international trampoline gymnastics competitions. The results show that, even though Brazil is the leader in South America with relevant participation in the continental level, the first participation at an Olympic Games had only been possible in 2016, because Brazil was the host country. We conclude that the Brazilian participation in World Championships and in the Olympic Games is not relevant. Finally, the lack of adequate equipment, the bad condition of the training centers, the absence of regular and official coaching education programs and the lack of support for the clubs, shows that this gymnastics discipline is not a current priority for the National Sports authorities, hindering its development internally.
