Presidents Report May 2017 It looks like the changes to the club’s cons tu on and by‐laws have been really well received, so we should be able to raise a mo on at the commi ee mee ng on May 1st 2017 to call for a special resolu on, so all members can vote on accep ng the changes. Hopefully, if accepted, we can no fy the department of fair trading and get this exercise put to bed so the next commi ee has less to worry about and we can get a smooth transi on. Dennise and I spent Easter at the lease and enjoyed a great weekend with probably around 50 people. It was a per‐ fect mix of a li le work and socialising at camp combined with a social day out on Saturday and some four wheel driving on Sunday. I sampled the refreshments on offer at the new cra brewery in Dungog and was suitably im‐ pressed. We had an awesome weekend with great company and probably one of the most relaxing I have had there in quite a while. It’s great to see the lease being used so much and thanks to the team who are keeping it in great shape for us all. I know I raised this last month but please remember on Sunday the 7th of May our Club will again be taking part in the Camp Quality day on Stockton beach. This is an awesome chance to spend a really fun day on Stockton beach and add some much needed respite to the lives of children living with life threatening illness as part of their every‐ day existence. Anybody who has been in previous years should contest that it’s a very rewarding day for everyone involved. Come along, bring your kids if you have some and join in on the day. We are mee ng at Stockland’s mall car park in Wallsend at around 8.00 A.M and it would be great to see our club well represented. Please give me a call if you need more informa on The Na onal Four Wheel Drive Associa on have been able to nego ate a very cost effec ve deal with a new pro‐ vider for public liability insurance, more is available on our website but it will represent a saving of almost 50% on what we currently pay and we end up with be er insurance cover. These savings can be re invested back into our members. We have had some members raise some concerns with regards to smoking at the lease. This is a very sensi ve sub‐ ject and people seem to be very passionate about one view or the other. The commi ee will be discussing this is‐ sue in greater detail in an a empt to find some workable solu ons to put to the members that we hope will be suitable to all. I think it’s very important that our club con nues to adopt values that are socially acceptable in cur‐ rent mes. Happy to hear members views on this one.
Signing out un l next month, stay safe and get out and about.
Regards Craig Green ( Greeny) Club President

Greetings for another month fellow non-bitumen lovers. The last month seems a bit of a blur for me, as it probably has for many of you too. With Easter, school holidays and ANZAC day all rolled in together it certainly was one of those “blink and you’ll miss it” months. This month’s edition is a little late, due to the holidays and the fact I wanted to include the Camp Quality Day in this issue. I’ve included some photos and a brief summary later in the magazine. Also included is a list of our club’s by-laws and the proposed amendments. Please take the time to read them and bring any suggestions to the next meeting. Another thing I’ve been meaning to remind everyone is that this is YOUR magazine, so if there is some- thing you would like to see in it, or if you have an idea for an article, please email me at edi- [email protected]. All suggestions will be considered and acted upon if possible. I’d also love to hear any good jokes and funny yarns about club members and their antics. Embarrassing photos are includ- ed in this too and, provided the member is of good humour, I may even publish them. I’d tell some about myself, but I’m perfect and have never done anything silly or embarrassing ( like getting stuck 50 metres inside the gates at Stockton because I didn’t air down enough). So please, let me know. That’s enough from me for now. Until next time, Cheers, Scott.

IMPORTANT NOTICES
As Greeny men oned in his report, the changes to the club’s cons tu on are nearly ready to be voted on and sub‐ mi ed. Please note that the May mee ng is your last chance to come and discuss these changes before they are put to a vote at the June mee ng. Please make sure you try to get to the mee ng so you can have your say. Re‐ member, it YOUR club. Only YOU can decide if the changes are good for the club and if you want the changes to proceed. We need a 75% majority of a endees at the June mee ng for the changes to be approved, so make sure you are informed and present to vote in June.
A few of you who have been to the lease may have no ced some sec ons of fencing near the wood shed. “What are they?” you may ask. Well, they have been provided as a safety aid to prevent people (especially small children) wandering too close to the fire pit and falling in. They can easily be placed around the fire towards the end of the night when people are heading off to bed, so that any li le cherubs who get up very early the next morning can’t find there way into a bed of smouldering coals. Please note, though, that supervision is by far the best protec on you can give your li le ones. Don’t assume that “somebody” will watch over them, because it has been known to happen that “somebody” may assume “anybody” is paying a en on when, in fact, “nobody” is looking.

The Crafty Ladies
Some information on the inaugural CC4WDC Ladies Group which met on the last Wednesday in April. The CC4WDC Ladies Meeting is a group of like-minded ladies who enjoy 4WDing and camping as well as craft. Not everyone who showed interest was able to attend the first meeting, but those who did were able to share a ‘yarn’ (pardon the pun), skills and interests over a cuppa and sticky bun. Chilly, our “crocheted shorts in club colours” model, was too scared to come, or didn’t want to intimidate us ladies with his knitting and crochet skills learnt in his youth. Either way….our model was absent. The group will be meeting the last Wednesday of every month except for August this year (August 23rd instead), at 6.30-8.30 for a meagre fee of $5 to pay for hall hire. Venue -the Wood- bury Park Community Centre opposite Westfields at Tuggerah.
Everyone is welcome if interested in creating something or learning from talented others.
And yes that is Aunty Bev knitting

CAMP QUALITY FUNDAY SUNDAY 7TH MAY 2017
On Sunday 7th May the annual Camp Quality Fun Day was held at Stockton beach. I was fortunate enough to be one of 8 cars from our club that attended and got to see the kids from Camp Quality (and their parents) have an absolute ball playing on the beach, four wheel driving up the dunes, enjoying a sausage sizzle, being entertained and informed by a member of the Worrimi Land Council and then fi- nally tobogganing down a huge sand dune that was so steep you had to crawl up it on your hands and knees. Neale presented a cheque for $500 to Camp Quality which was very much appreciated as it will pro- vide much needed assistance for a family in need. Make sure you are at the May Club meeting to hear more about this fantastic day. Also, make sure you clear your calendar and get to the next one. It’s worth it!
What a view.

It was a struggle to walk/crawl up that dune !
From halfway up that dune the cars look so small!

Lookouts, Learning and Laugh's – Sunday April 23
By Carole Corp
Neale & Ros – Trip Leader Frank Richard Tigga Mark Ma & Carole Ivan & Robyn
We met up on a beau ful Sunday morning at Cooranbong Park, Freemans Drive at 8.30am. We arrived at 8.20am thinking yay we are early, (no trip report to write, but we were wrong) oh well, I don’t mind really. Ma did the ver‐ bal of a previous trip so I was told it was my turn to write a report so here goes.
With the autumn sun warming our backs nicely, Neale started off by talking about planning a club trip. He showed us various maps, like the topographical maps which show the tracks in a lot more detail. For example the contour lines on the map show you how steep the track is. You can also get apps for your ipad such as Memory Maps or Hema Maps. There is also a really good reference book by Boiling Billy called 4WD Treks close to Sydney which Neale and Ros have used like their Bible and strongly recommend using it.
Neale went on to say that you email Bev Fort with your trip plans and Bev will present you with the trip book which contains all the informa on you need to put on a trip with the club. Eg medical forms, convoy procedure etc.
Then email the editor your trip plans: where you are going, what you plan to do, what equipment is required, type of tyres, li required, extra fuel, water and food, plus full recovery gear.
Ensure that you do a pre‐trip run, up to 3 vehicles can go on a reccy with you and Neale says he is available to join you, or help you plan your trip. His number is in the magazine so don’t be shy to ask for guidance. Another point Neale raised was to check with Na onal Parks regarding fire bans and track closures. Plus have a Plan B just in case the weather alters or you have to change your route. Keep the amount of vehicles to around 8 so it is not too big a group to manage.
So now with our brains packed full of informa on we set off in search of the famous Watagan’s Lookouts.
These included Monkey Face Lookout (couldn’t see the monkey!!!), Gap Creek, Morrels Lookout, Heaton Lookout where we had morning tea and Boarding House Dam where we stopped to have lunch and a short walk by the moss wall and the Dam which is a really beau ful spot.
I would like to thank Neale and Ros for pu ng together this very informa ve and enjoyable trip.
