Micah Seaborn scored 19 points in the defeat. CURRENT HAWKS AGAINST IONA Justin Robinson is averaging 15.7 points per game, but is at 20.3 points per contest over the last two seasons in six games, with 21 assists and 25 rebounds. As a freshman, Micah Seaborn netted 12.3 points per contest and shot 58% from deep against the Gaels, and Austin Tilghman averaged 9.0ppg vs. Iona in 2015-16. Je’lon Hornbeak was a perfect 7-for-7 and 5-for-5 from downtown in the MAAC Finals last season, scoring 20 points. ROBINSON APPROACHING RECORDS Justin Robinson is 150 points shy of tying Alex Blackwell and John Giraldo for the program’s all-time scoring record of 1,749. Robinson has 1,599 points and his next point will vault him into fourth place by himself. He also sits seven assists shy of fourth, and looks to fi nish in the top-fi ve in scoring, assists, fi eld goals made, three pointers made, and steals. WHERE THEY RANK IN THE MAAC Chris Brady-3rd in fi eld goal percentage (56.0%) Justin Robinson-4th in scoring (17.7ppg), 2nd in assists (5.1apg), 5th in % (82.6%), 1st in steals (1.9spg), 6th in /turnover ratio (5.1/2.7) Je’lon Hornbeak-2nd in 3-point percentage (47.1%) FOUR IN DOUBLE DIGITS Monmouth has put four players in double fi gures in eight games this season, including the three in a row prior to SPU. That group is headlined by Justin Robinson, who has worked into double digits in all but one game this season. STEWART TO DOUBLES WITHOUT A 3 For the fi rst time in his career, Collin Stewart reached double fi gures against Rider without hitting a three- point shot. He netted 14 points on 5-13 shooting, and put home a pair of dunks. #LON Je’lon Hornbeak put together an impressive nine-game stretch prior to Saint Peter’s, scoring in double fi g- ures in eight of nine and hitting at least three triples in all but two contests. He shot 51.2% and a stunning 55.9% from downtown in this period, which dated back to Monmouth’s win over Holy Cross. He won MAAC Player of the Week two weeks in a row, and averaged 16.9 points per game during the stretch. Hornbeak peaked at ninth in the nation in three-point shooting percentage at 49.4%. BEST TWO-YEAR STRETCH Monmouth has posted 38 wins over the past two seasons, the fourth most in a two-year span in program history. The record is 46, set between 2014-15 and 2015-16. Twice has MU won 39 times in two seasons, both in 1990-91 and 2000-01, with the Hawks winning 38 between 1995-96 and 96-97. A win tonight will be Monmouth’s 39th since the start of last season. TILGHMAN’S RUN Austin Tilghman posted back-to-back games in double fi gures, including a career-high 18 points against Princeton and 10 more at North Carolina. He now has posted 11 career games scoring in double digits. THE LONGEST WINNING STREAK Monmouth had a program record nine game winning streak snapped at UNC after picking up the ninth over Princeton. Previously, MU had posted three eight-game streaks, including one as recently as January/ February 2016. THE BEST START Monmouth set a program record with its 10th win in 12 games against Princeton, breaking the 1990-91 team’s mark of 9-2 to open a season. BEST THREE-YEAR STRETCH The best three-year run in program history came under Wayne Szoke between 1989-90 and 1991-92, when the Hawks were 56-31 in three years. As of today, the Hawks are 56-28 in the last two plus seasons, and can set the record for the most wins in a three-year span tonight.

2016 -17 monmouth basketball game notes 5 MMonmouthonmouth NNotesotes 5’8” BUT HIS GAME IS BIGGER A recent NCAA list published on NCAA.com ranked senior guard Justin Robinson as the best player in the nation under the height of 5’10”. Robinson was listed fi rst on the fi ve-man list ahead of Campbell’s Chris Clemons (5’9”), Central Michigan’s Braylon Rayson (5’9”), Long Beach State’s Justin Bibbins (5’8”), and Winthrop’s Keon Johnson (5’7”). GET THAT OUT OF HERE Monmouth posted a season-best eight blocks in the win over Army, including a career-high three off the hands of sophomore big Diago Quinn. Justin Robinson, who stands at 5’8”, also recorded a for the third time this season after totaling just one in his fi rst three seasons in the Blue and White. THE STARTING LINEUP After starting the same lineup in seven of the fi rst eight games, MU has now used fi ve different combos this year. Collin Stewart started for Micah Seaborn at Syracuse, and Stewart got the nod at Wagner when Josh James went down with injury before Pierre Sarr replaced Stewart in the starting lineup against Army. James returned to the starting fi ve vs. Princeton. Justin Robinson and Chris Brady have started every contest for Monmouth this season. DROPPING 30 Justin Robinson scored 30+ points for the second time in his career and hit six three-pointers for the second time against Wagner. His fi rst 30-point outburst came at Siena last February when he scored 36, and he last hit six threes in a home win over Marist last January. 3 SCORE 19 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2009 In the win over Army, three Hawks scored 19 or more points, with Micah Seaborn netting 20 and Chris Brady and Je’lon Hornbeak putting in 19 apiece. It marked the fi rst time that three Monmouth players scored 19 or more points in a single game since 2/26/09, when Will Campbell and Travis Taylor each scored 20 and Alex Nunner had 19 in a 75-67 win at Central Connecticut State. EIGHT TRIPLES Micah Seaborn became the second Hawk to ever hit as many as eight threes in a game vs. South Carolina State, and the fi rst since Dave Calloway made nine on 1/2/90 against Pepperdine to set the program record. THE LAST TIME UNDER .500 Monmouth had been at .500 or better since a one-point overtime loss to Saint Peter’s on January 15, 2015 dropped them to 8-9 on the season, a mark of 674 days before falling to Syracuse to drop to 1-2. The Hawks were beneath .500 for just three days before beating Cornell. CONSECUTIVE GAMES Chris Brady has played in every game since he arrived on campus and will play in his 117th tonight. The center is on track to lead the program in games played. TOPPING THE NON-CONFERENCE MU fi nished non-league play with eight wins, one shy of the program record set in 1990-91 with nine wins. Monmouth went 8-3 last year in the non-league, plus a ninth win against a non-conference opponent in the NIT against Bucknell. The Hawks went 8-3 this year out of the MAAC. ALMOST SIX WITH 20+ Monmouth is one of four teams in the nation with fi ve players to individually score 20 points in a single game this season, joining UMass, Purdue, and Memphis. Memphis and UMass have had six players do it, which MU almost accomplished when Austin Tilghman fell just short of the marker with 18 against Princeton. Justin Robinson, Je’lon Hornbeak, Micah Seaborn, Chris Brady and Collin Stewart have all hit 20 in a game this year. SCORING 80+ Monmouth netted 80+ points in eight consecutive games, going back to the win over South Carolina State before it was snapped against UNC. MU was averaging 86.3 points per game in that stretch after scoring just 68.2 points per contest in the fi rst four games of the year. UP NEXT... Monmouth takes on Marist on Sunday afternoon at the OceanFirst Bank Center. Tip is slated for 2:00 p.m. on ESPN3.

THHEE HOOMEME OOFF MOONMOUTHNMOUTH BAASKETBALLSKETBALL

Prior to this season, the arena formerly known as The MAC was renamed the OceanFirst Bank Center thanks to a naming rights deal with OceanFirst Bank. MU Basketball enters its eighth season in the building after playing pre- viously in Boylan Gymnasium. Monmouth University ushered in a new era in the school’s history with the completion and opening of the long anticipated arena in the Fall of 2009. It not only serves the school’s 23 Division I Athletics programs, but is also a key asset for the entire University community. The facility features classroom and seminar space and a conference center that can be used for meetings, or be partitioned and used for study hall, clinics or workshops. The gym, which features a state-of-the-art fi tness center, is also the location of the Leon Hess Champions' Hall, Monmouth Athletics Hall of Fame and Varsity Club, which will be used for hospitality for Blue/White Club members. Student lounges and study areas with complete wireless Internet access are also available. The OceanFirst Bank Center, which is connected to Boylan Gym and the Steadman Natatorium, is 153,200 square feet of space for students and the community to utilize in many different capacities. It’s most prominent fea- ture is the 4,000 seat arena, which is the nest for the Monmouth men’s and women’s basketball programs. The arena also features a six-lane, 200-meter indoor track, which can be used for training and competition all year long. A fi tness center with state-of-the-art strength and cardiovascular equipment is also housed here. The arena provides varsity athletes & coaches with meeting facilities, locker rooms, practice and competition facilities & expanded and upgraded ame- nities. The University Bookstore was also relocated from the Stafford Stu- dent Center, which will improve accessibility for commuting students, and the additional square footage will enable the stocking of a greater variety of merchandise. In the summer of 2011, with funds raised through private donations, Mon- mouth’s varsity athletics weight room was given a $200,000 overhaul. Renovations, which began in June and were funded entirely by the gener- ous donations of Monmouth supporters, included a brand new Mondo fl oor, replaced HVAC system, new lights and a fresh paint job. The aesthetics of the room were improved with MU branded wall decorations.
