CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY FOR INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES AND ORGANIZATIONS

TWO-YEAR MASTER COURSE

The Master course in Clinical Psychology for individuals, families and organizations is part of the International program of the University of ; it is entirely taught in English and the Faculty is partly composed by international scholars.

Objectives

The purpose of the Degree is to prepare a new professional psychologist who is capable of dealing not only with the personal problems of individuals, couples and families, but also with work-related problems, their development in enterprises, institutions and non-profit organizations. Aside from lectures, courses are characterized by active learning through exercises, role plays and group work. Students will be given the tools to work in macro-social contexts, to promote a satisfactory balance between the needs of individual empowerment and business objectives, taking into account the sustainable development of business in both national and international contexts. In particular, they will receive adequate preparation to carrying out a selection of personnel, "team" and "one to one" coaching in companies, institutions and non-profit organizations, to handle issues related to the management of the decision-making process, of communication and of the social skills of organizations and institutions. Students will also learn to design preventive interventions aimed not only at individuals, couples and families but also at companies, institutions and non-profit organizations.

Career opportunities

This master programme leads to a professional qualification which opens a broad range of employment possibilities up for its graduates. The career opportunities are therefore many (e.g. private practice, educational and healthcare institutions, community services, residential facilities, firms and NGOs).

The programme is designed to equip students with a theoretical and working knowledge of psychological, relational and organizational difficulties in individuals (including children and young people), couples, families and organizations, and counselling based strategies for working with them in their contexts within an integrated systemic perspective.

Graduates are also expected to successfully compete for jobs in firms and other institutions, in consulting, in national and international non-profit organizations, public institutions, and corporates. Graduates will gain the abilities to relate to different targets and contexts to assess difficulties and promote positive change at different levels.

Graduates may take the MSc as a stepping stone towards further postgraduate study (e.g. to support an application to a PhD or a Doctorate training programme) or to entry the Board of Psychologists of (Sezione A dell'Ordine degli Psicologi) or the EuroPsy qualification.

Examples of specific fields where graduates can give valuable contributions, both in private firms sector and public institutions, are:

 Assessment, diagnosis and psycho-social interventions with individuals and groups  selection of personnel  "team" and "one to one" coaching in companies, institutions and non-profit organizations  Consultancies for communication and training in organizations and institutions  Research and designing preventive interventions aimed at individuals, couples and families as well as at companies, institutions and non-profit organizations.

Erasmus and related international programs

Erasmus and other international programs Students are encouraged to spend a period in another European university, by applying to the Erasmus program or to similar agreements that have been signed between the University of Bergamo and other Universities.

For a number of European universities there is a ready-to-use map linking courses taught in Clinical Psychology to those that students can attend abroad in substitution of the former.

APPLICATION

Undergraduate Academic Degree: Major fields of study

Applicants will need to provide a transcript or list of modules including their ECTS credit value to detail the content of the undergraduate academic programme they have attended, specifying the major fields of study and the major disciplines which have been taught with regard to the following areas:

- Clinical and dynamic psychology - Cognitive and/or behavioural psychology - Social and organizational psychology - Research Methods and statistics

Applicants are required knowledge of English corresponding to level B2, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Applicants who do not submit the relevant certificate with the pre- application shall be asked to pass an English language test. Applicants should also submit to an individual interview in order to test if they satisfy the admission requirements.

Students with an Italian Bachelor degree For students holding an Italian bachelor degree in classes it is required a minimum of 88 CFU in M-PSI fields.
