The new year kicked off with a tasty set of fixtures, United and United came head to head at Stansty Park and with their 2-1 success Rhosddu have forged out a 5 point lead at the top. Strikes from Deacon Hughes and Brandon Matthews just shaded the clash with Morgan Davies responding.

Chirk Youth defeated Bala Juniors 6-1 and were on target through Jayden Sheel(2), Louis Burgin, Will Cooke, Alf Robinson and Fenn Jones.

Staying in the title hunt are Park Albion who whitewashed their hosts Johnstown Youth 13-0. Harley Davies weighed in with a 5 goal salvo and sealing their success were Will Duffy(2), Harry Duffy(2), Oliver Hughes, Kai Griffiths and Oscar Allen(2).

Ieuan Steele hit back for Llangollen Youth in their 2-1 reversal against Ruthin Town Youth Blues whose marksmen were Sion Williams and Peter Baldry.

In the Red Section, goals from Dario D'abreu(2), Max Evans and Roman Thomas could not prevent them from slumping to a 7-4 defeat against Rangers.

The United clash with Ruthin Town was a real sporting encounter with Ruthin 6-2 winners, star of the show was Elis Jones with a 4 goal salvo with an OG and Dafydd Edwards from the penalty spot completing their tally.

Second placed Athletic closed the gap at the top with an emphatic 11-2 success at Rhos Aelwyd. Leading the rout with 4 goals was Rhys Evans with Rhys Jones, Lewis Wright, Alex Cooper with a treble, George Williams(2) and Louis Riley taking them into double figures.

Turning to the Under 13 league, it appears the bubble might have burst for Gresford Athletic who this time 12 months ago were quite invincible and for the second time in a row they were picked off by Llay United who secured a 4-2 victory. Standing out for Llay was former Gresford defender Charlie Nield but netting their goals were Tom Blaze, Owen Booty, Dan Shaw and Ryan Jakolevs. Reducing the arrears were Ianto Roberts and Efan Thomas.

Borras Park Rangers fell to a shock 4-3 defeat against FC Brickfield who were well worth their win and netted through Tyler Williams and Leo Parker who bagged 2 goals apiece. Making a fist of things for Rangers was their star man Ethan Davies who clawed things back to 3-3 with a treble.

Brickfield Rangers were picked off 8-0 by Youth whose marksmen were Jake Thomas(2), Levi Williams(2), Kayne Piercey(2), Alf Penrose and Tyler Hudson.

Brymbo Lodge trailed 2-0 early on against United who were quick out of the traps but 2 goals apiece from Ed Pridding and man of the match Robert Morgan turned things around but plucky Cefn hit back for a share of the spoils in a 4-4 draw.

Llangollen Youth were top scorers at this level and pummelled FC Gresford 11-0 courtesy of strikes from hat-trick heroes Harley Dipper and Finn Griffiths, Lewie Dennis, Will Nash(2), Jack Jones and Morgan Jones.

Ruthin Town Youth chalked up a convincing 7-0 victory over Coedpoeth United thanks to Gabriel Hinchliffe, Griff Hughes with a treble, Owain Roberts, Finlay Jones and Charlie Hewitt.

In the Under 14 division, Bala Juniors crashed to a 6-1 defeat against title favourites Borras Park Albion who hit their hosts for six with their marksmen being Kian Parry(2), Tom Jones(2), Tom Evans and Harvey Davies. The host however felt the scoreline slightly flattered Albion and Bala did secure superb consolation goal from Matty Thorpe who scored with a stunning shot from distance.

Brymbo Lodge lost out by the odd goal in 7 losing 4-3 against Chirk Youth whose star man Iwan Phillips who converted a hat-trick but the Benjamin Lee strike did prove decisive.

Coedpoeth United were at their best when clinching a 7-3 verdict against Youth and their marksmen were Xavi Morgan(2), David De Costa(2), Calon Roberts, Adam Thomas and James Willis.

Penycae Youth had no answer to the clinical finishing of Rhosddu United who romped home 6-0 with efforts from Nick Jorgiev, Lewis Wills, Iwan Hughes(2), Alec Rigby and Harrison Karates.

Corwen took a 2-0 interval lead at Ruthin Town thanks to Morgan Hodgson and Cai Jones but a response from Harry Martin with an excellent despatched free-kick failed to draw them level.

In the afternoon programme at Under 15 level, Chirk Youth demonstrated why they are a cut above the rest chalking up a 13-2 success at Johnstown. Vinny Cooke and Terrell Nash bagged 4 goals apiece and taking them into double figures were Iwan Rowlandson, Brandon Edwards, Lewis Hughes, Joisse Fernandez and Lewis Hughes.

There was a tight encounter at the old Colliery where Borras Park Albion just about nicked a 4-3 verdict over Ruthin Town Youth. Liam Lawrence stood out for Albion and converted a hat-trick but a strike from Blessing Osiljah also proved decisive. Making a scrap of things for Ruthin were Aleksander Cyra(2) and Charlie Tokarczyk.

Borras Park Rangers suffered a 7-0 whitewash at home against Gresford Athletic whose marksmen were Ruben Easdale(2), Dan Jolly(2), Louis Bullock(2) and an own goal.

Brickfield Rangers thumped Rhosddu United 6-2 with the help of hat-trick hero Henry Lunn, Alex Leaney, Dylan Jones and Harvey Smith. Reducing the deficit with a brace was Elijah Marvin.

Callan Roberts and Aleksander Pokrzywa replied for Coedpoeth United in their 5-2 reversal against Cefn United who went nap through Deryn Jones, Josh Pilgrim(2), Huw Penge and Olly Roberts.

Brymbo Lodge proved worthy 4-2 winners at Ruthin Town Blues and were on target through Harvey Jones, Cameron Fuller and Levi Howat. Hitting back for the Blues were Josh Newcombe and Lewis Lloyd Hughes.

In the UNDER 16 DIVISION, leaders Penycae had a scare and only just about to come through unscathed defeating hosts Brymbo Lodge 2-1. In Gethinn Hughes they had the games nest player but it was a double salvo from Harry Smith that separated the sides.

After a slow start and a goal-less opening half, Rhos Aelwyd came good to defeat their hosts Acton 4-0. On target were Rhys Davies(2), Elliott Rowlands with a fine executed volley and Josh Jones.

Chirk Youth scraped home 3-2 against Johnstown Youth after Kiran Byrne and James Reynolds had given the visitors cause for optimism. It all self corrected in the end for Chirk with Olly Evans and a James Williams double salvo enabling Chirk to take maximum points.
