COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 20, 2019

A meeting of the Senate Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure was scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Building.

The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 129 (S-1) (Sen. Schmidt) with recommendation and immediate effect.

The Chairman called the meeting to order at 10:44 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier, a quorum was present.

The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adopt the meeting minutes from March 13, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted.

The Chairman invited Craig Puckett, of Sen. Schmidt's office, to summarize SB 129.

The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 129: Dennis Cawthorne, City of Mackinac Island – Support Jason Gillman, Jr., Citizen – Oppose

The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 129: David Gregory, Mackinac Island Carriage Tours – Support Mark Polsdofer, Michigan Department of Transportation – Neutral

The Chairman offered, and summarized, an (S-1) version to SB 129.

The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. LaSata to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 129. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted.

Page 1 of 2 The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Victory to report the (S-1) version of SB 129 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported.

The Chairman made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 129 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended.

There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman moved to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 11:02 a.m.
