On Limitless, The Piano Guys showcase their talent for reinventing the music of any genre, from contemporary pop and rock hits to classical compositions, Hollywood scores and even never-before-heard originals. “Limitless represents much of who we are as The Piano Guys. You can hear the journey we want the listener to take,” the group says of their latest album. “We want to make listeners feel like they can get up and conquer the world. We hope you become excited about what you can do!” The newest release from The Piano Guys lives up to the name Limitless as the foursome once again leapt past boundaries for the 13-track collection. The album’s title track “Limitless” sets the groundwork for the breadth of the album, ebbing and flowing from cinematic piano into expansive strings underscored by percussive cello sounds. Featuring the guys’ take on the latest pop hits, Limitless includes a new recording of Shawn Mendes’ hit single “In My Blood” as well as their previously released cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect,” a fan-favorite that has garnered nearly 20 million views on YouTube alone. Expanding their reach far beyond the American pop music scene, the foursome are also taking on K-pop with their covers of “DNA” and “Epiphany” from global K- pop superstars BTS. Known to bring music of different genres together for a sound all their own, Limitless also features their mash-up of The Chainsmokers’ Coldplay-featuring hit “Something Just Like This” with Franz Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2.” Rounding out the collection are recent favorites from the award-winning film The Greatest Showman (“Rewrite the Stars” and “A Million Dreams”) as well as original compositions (“Limitless,” “North Cape,” “First Dance,” and “Miracles”), culminating in a diverse new album that’s sure to have multigenerational appeal. Since formally introducing themselves in 2011 on YouTube, The Piano Guys – Steven Sharp Nelson, Jon Schmidt, Al Van der Beek and Paul Anderson – unassumingly arrived as a musical phenomenon. Over the course of five studio records, two Christmas releases, and a fan favorite live album, they have impressively tallied 2 billion-plus global streams, clocked upwards of 1.6 billion YouTube views, earned six No. 1 debuts on the Billboard Top Classical Albums Chart, sold out concerts in almost every corner of the world, averaged nearly 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and attracted a diehard audience. Not to mention, they’ve appeared in The New York Times, Fast Company, BuzzFeed, Mashable, and People, were featured on CBS Sunday Morning and performed on the TODAY Show, Good Morning America and The Tonight Show. On Saturday night at their concert at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, YouTube honored them with a plaque commemorating this exciting achievement. According to YouTube – just over 100 artist channels, including some of the biggest icons in the world, have reached the 1 billion view mark. Of their latest landmark, Steven Sharp Nelson says: “A billion is a big number. Especially for a quartet of dads who just started making music videos for fun. Honestly, we are overwhelmed with gratitude. We feel like there have been so many miracles to make this possible that we are simply along for the ride. Behind every view is someone that has spent their time and sometimes their hard-earned money in support of us. We’ve built this on their shoulders. We also feel like there have been lots of answered prayers along the way too. No matter how big the number gets, we’ve promised ourselves that we’ll never lose sight of this. We were in the middle of tour when the big billionth view boomed so we celebrated the best way we know how – by thanking our audience personally!” In addition to their loyal YouTube fan base, the four dads from Utah recently celebrated an official RIAA Gold Album Certification for their first album - The Piano Guys.

Together they produce musical and video gems that mash up classical themes with pop songs — making the group’s YouTube channel one of the most visited on the planet. The Piano Guys began in St. George, Utah, where Anderson owned a piano shop. Schmidt walked in one day and asked if he could practice on one of the pianos for an upcoming concert. Soon Anderson and Schmidt were recording and making videos together, and with the addition of Nelson, posting them to YouTube. Things continued to grow and expand creatively with van der Beek aboard, and the collective’s productions became joyous, thoughtful, and beautiful interactive musical videos that received millions of YouTube hits and brought the Piano Guys worldwide attention. After a self-released debut in 2011 called Hits, Vol. 1, an eponymous album appeared in 2012 via Sony Masterworks. It was followed by Piano Guys 2 in 2013 and a holiday album, A Family Christmas, in 2014. Released that same year, Wonders proved to be the duo’s highest-charting album to date, peaking at the number 12 spot on the Billboard 200. Two years later, the quartet returned with their sixth studio album, Uncharted.

Of their newest holiday track and video, THE PIANO GUYS say, “A piano, a cello, and 739,539 Christmas lights. Perhaps a perfect setting for a mashup of two of the most well-known and beloved Christmas carols, ‘Let it Snow’ and ‘Winter Wonderland.’ For this tune we triple-channeled the stylistic vibe of legends Michael Bublé, Sara Bareilles, and the Doobie Brothers! We stitched them together so tightly that we hope it feels like being wrapped in a patchwork blanket of both carols, these artists, and The Piano Guys throughout every second of the song. Add the visual splendor of an inordinate amount of synchronized lights filmed in below-freezing temperatures and it’s instant Christmas spirit!” The Utah quartet are no strangers to the holiday music scene, having previously released two Christmas albums and putting their signature twist to the season’s biggest hits and timeless classics – A Family Christmas and Christmas Together are available everywhere now.

  • The Piano Guys Come to Worcester This May
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Piano Guys come to Worcester this May WORCESTER, Mass. (October 30, 2017) On the heels of their latest release “Uncharted,” The Piano Guys will perform live at The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts on May 1, 2018 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale to theatre members Thursday, November 2 at 10 a.m. and to the public Friday, November 3 at 10 a.m. The Piano Guys became an Internet sensation by way of their immensely successful series of strikingly original, self-made music videos. They’ve made over 65 videos since joining forces in early 2011, including an innovative 10-handed version of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.” Their spectacular videos have netted over 1.2 billion YouTube views and over 5.4 million subscribers. The Piano Guys consist of just one piano player, Jon Schmidt, and one other instrumentalist, Steven Sharp Nelson, on cello. The duo is joined by Paul Anderson and Al van der Beek. "Jon had built up a fan base for 20 years, and we used that as a springboard for getting exposure," Anderson said. "But it's all about the merits of the videos, and share-ability. People see them and then share them with their friends on Facebook, and before you know it, they can take off." Currently, The Piano Guys have over 1.6 million Facebook fans who have shared videos like "Michael Meets Mozart," which features over 100 tracks of cello textures, including a deep bass drum sound created by tapping on the cello body; a shaker sound made by Nelson rubbing rosin on his bow; and a record-scratch noise caused by his scraping a quarter on the strings.
