DESCRIPTION. Achards is a fine example of an early 18th century country h ouse, Grade II listed, with all the evident architectural charm of that period. Surrounded by five acres of grounds which comprise formal and informal gardens together with three paddocks for ponies or other livestock, the house enjoys an enviable setting high up on the slopes of a west facing valley. The property is approached by a winding drive which leads to a terrace in front of the house, in one corner of which is a charming gazebo. Internally Achards feels very comfortable, it is a wonderful house fro m which to entertain; its five reception rooms include a full-sized snooker room, but it is not however, overwhelmingly formal with the kitchen/breakfast room at its core and excellent ancillary space. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, and a further two or three bedrooms on the second floor served by three bathrooms and a shower room. Achards also has a self- contained staff flat on the first floor of an adjacent barn which has its own access and parking. There are paddocks between the house and the road and the garden is to the side and immediate rear with level areas of lawn and sheltered terraces. Above this is another generous area of open level ground. This has its own vehicular access and could be used to extend the garden further or create a tennis court among other potential uses etc., subject to planning consent.
