Structural Measures Working Party – 17 March 2020 Member States discussed the Commission proposal on the Coronavirus Response Investment Ini a ve (CRII) and the proposed amendments to the Regula on on the EU Solidarity Fund (EUSF): CRII proposal: lengthy discussion, where almost all MS advocated for further changes being introduced in the exis ng rules on cohesion policy. EUSF proposal: some delega ons sought more clarity on how to calculate the “public financial burden” in case of a public health emergency, what should be the me-limit for applica ons. Coreper mee ng - 18 March 2020 MS ambassadors adopted the measures proposed by COM without amendments - see a ached report << File: Windows-10_Zoom.docx >> Next steps: European Parliament to adopt COM proposed emergency measures to combat COVID-19. It will be done via an extraordinary mini-plenary session on Thursday 26 March at which a remote vo ng system will be used. This remote vo ng system will be used un l the summer. The mini-plenary session on Thursday 26 March will replace the one scheduled for early April
Commission sent le er to all EU MS to inform them on the individual support they can receive under the Coronavirus Response Investment Ini a ve (CRII) – 18 March 2020 The le ers, sent by Commissioners Elisa Ferreira and Nicolas Schmit, are available here. They provide details on the amounts available for each country, the type of expenditure newly eligible under the EU structural and solidarity funds - for instance to support health systems, procure medical equipment or ensure access to healthcare for vulnerable groups, and the current possibili es to mobilise financing through ERDF and ESF to flexibly respond to the rapidly emerging needs in the most exposed sectors. It will be awarded during the Voca onal Skills Week 2020 in November. This award category will complement the various VET/Adult Leaning awards linked to the Voca onal Skills Week while underlining the European funding aspect in the framework of the European Social Fund. This year’s theme is “Green Deal: green skills and jobs”. This event which take place on 12-15 October 2020 at the Square Conven on Centre at Mont des Arts in Brussels. Some 9,000 par cipants from EU Member States, regions and ci es, as well as third countries are expected to a end this major Commission corporate event, organised by DG REGIO in coopera on with the Commi ee of the Regions.
