The 1948 team had a famous batboy (the young boy wearing the white t-shirt in the front of the team picture). The batboy was none other than George "Sparky" Anderson, the Hall of Fame manager 44 who won three World Series with the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit 2008 USC Baseball Tigers. 1958 National Championship Team The next USC title came 10 years later when Roster Troy went 5-1 at the 1958 CWS, losing only to Holy Cross in the opening game, 3-0. USC fought Bob Allen, if its way back through the losers’ bracket to claim Jim Barudoni, lhp the crown, making it only the second team in Don Biasotti, lf CWS history to accomplish that feat (Texas did Bob Blakeslee, lhp it previously in 1950).
