Ortiz, who was convicted of first degree murder in the killing of Captiva bartender Jory Dahmer, awaited a jury decision on whether he will die in Florida's electric chair, or spend life in prison. In Lee County Circuit Court, a jury that on Friday took less than 70 minutes to convict Ortiz of first degree premedi- tated murder, assault on a police officer, and assault with a deadly weapon, con- sidered the statements of more than 13 defense witnesses.
