Guidance and instructions for our process is located on our www.spraguehs.com website and follows below. Students will nd be able to request schedule changes beginning January 2 . A nd copy of the 2 semester master schedule will also be located on our website for students to reference as they ask for elective changes. Requests are answered in the order they are received. Not all requests will be honored. Students will receive an email with the outcome of their request once it has been processed. Schedules will not be changed to accommodate teacher or class period requests. Last day th to request a semester 2 schedule change is Friday, January 19 .

nd nd 2 semester class schedules will be available for students on the first day of 2 semester classes. nd These will be provided via StudentVue or can be requested in print on the first day of 2 semester. Students may only change to an elective that is offered the same period as the class they wish to drop on a space available basis. The list of courses by period will be posted on the Sprague Website. Students will not be allowed to skip or leave a class that is listed on their schedule and come to the College and Career center to make schedule changes in person. They must request their schedule change via the online request process. During the first week of the semester, counselors will correct scheduling errors with students in person for the following reasons only: 1. Incorrect placement of a student (either class level, course offering, or subject) 2. A student has a “Needs Class” on their schedule or a missing period. 3. A student has a duplicate class or too many classes on their schedule.

HOOVER GIFT BAG DRIVE

Students from Sprague High School delivered gifts to students at Hoover Elementary School on December 13th as part of the Annual Hoover Gift Drive. Olympians have been coordinating this gift drive during the holiday season since 2000. This year Sprague students and staff raised enough funds and donations to provide every Hoover student a bag of gifts, every classroom a board game, and there were gifts left over for Hoover students who were absent that day. Sprague students spent time in each classroom handing out gifts, making crafts, reading stories, and doing activities. This has been a long-standing tradition and an amazing opportunity for Olympians to give back to the community.

We even made the news! KATU ran a short segment on our time at Hoover Elementary. Check it out at: http://katu.com/news/local/salem-high-schoolers-deliver-gifts-to-less-fortunate-elementary-students Way to go Olys! ¿QUÉ PASA? The Sprague chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica has recently begun to volunteer at a local after school program. Members join in and help with lessons that aim at enriching language and culture for the elementary school students who attend the Colonia Libertad program. They also plan to create cultural projects and presentations for future visits. Sprague parent Maria Bautista runs the program twice a week and the SHH students are excited to share and learn along with the children.

Are you missing an item? Come look at the lost and found table in the commons. Unclaimed items will be donated on Wednesday, December 20th. Thank you!

FRENCH NEWS Students in AP French recently completed research projects on francophone inventors and the impact of these inventions on the world. Students researched a variety of inventions, including: Braille (Louis Braille), the polo shirt (Jean René Lacoste), the stethoscope (René Laennec), canning (Nicolas Appert), and the rabies vaccine (Louis Pasteur). Students presented to the class on their invention and prepared a brochure, book, or newspaper article about the invention. Senior Connor Davidson researched the Etch-A-Sketch, originally called “L’écran magique” by its inventor, André Cassagnes. He is pictured below with a depiction of La Tour Eiffel that he created on his very own écran magique. Un grand merci aux étudiants pour leurs bons efforts!

Dear Parent/Guardian,

If you do not wish for your child to participate in these lessons, please contact Assistant Principal Lillian White at 503-399-3261 by January 19, 2018. Sprague's Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

The Thanksgiving Food Drive is a canned food drive through Marion Food Share put on by Sprague Leadership and Oly Pageant. This competition took place among all of the 7th period classes November 1st-17th. Classes were given a box along with a list of eligible th food items for donation and a corresponding point value. The highest scoring 7 period class was Mrs. Pope's AP U.S. Government class. The small but determined group was extremely passionate about bringing in food and gathering monetary donations. Congratulations students! -Pictured Mrs. Pope’s 7th period AP U.S. Government Class- (back row) Charlotte Pederson, Cole Bacheller, Savannah Prys, Ellen Orton, Kyera Lutton (middle row) Brett Silkey, Karma Maxwell, Haley Silva, Amee Mike, Emma Miller (front row) Blake Roberson, Jaden Sumner, Ian Bell, Lia Larson, Emily Smith, Connor Duncan

Sprague, school wide, collected 1,081 pounds of shelf stable food and 245 pounds of meat for a total of 1,326 pounds! The total cash collected was $87. When converted into meals, that works out to 1,366 meals provided for our neighbors in need! GREAT JOB SPRAGUE!
