His background in coaching dates back to 1991 in England. While finishing his professional playing career in England, Tony began his coaching career as a player/coach with the semi-pro team Burnham FC and others. Eventually Tony immigrated to the US in 1998. He began working for the Atlanta Silverbacks Soccer club. Tony spent several years at the Silverbacks, working with both the men's and women's professional teams. Tony has continued to work for many professional and youth clubs since. Coach Tony's first joined the Atlanta Silverbacks Women's staff as interim head coach during the 2006 season and served as the assistant coach last year for the league finalists. For the 2008 season, Tony moved up to head coach of the women's squad. Anglin rose to the semi-professional ranks in England, his home country, before beginning his coaching career. In 2007, he took over the women's team on a fulltime basis, while continuing once again on the men's side. The women's team had its best ever season to date, earning a conference championship and reaching the W-League finals. Given the unprecedented success of 2008, it came as no surprise that Anglin would be promoted to fulltime head coach for the women. Anglin's good work in 2007 repeated itself in 2008, as the Silverbacks went 13-0-1 in the regular season, before losing in the conference final (falling 2-1 in the 118th minute to the Washington Freedom, now the WPS team). Anglin's 2008 achievements garnered him the W-League's "Coach of the Year" award. Anglin, a veteran with over 20 years of coaching experience under his belt. Tony Anglin was tapped to be the first head coach of the Chicago Red Eleven by team owner Ted Gradel in December of 2008. .
