IhaveshiveredthroughEasterspast,inWales,whenoutsidelookedlikea VictorianChristmascardandsnowbankedupthedrystonewalls.Thebed roomsweresocold,weleftthebaby’scribdownstairsinfrontoftheopen fire.Thisyear,withacombinationofEasterfallinglateandunseasonably earlyheatandclearskies(thosewhoseetheirglasshalfemptyalreadybid dingsummergoodbyeforanotheryear),thehedgerowshavealreadytheir earlyMaycolour,pink,blue,white,acoupleofweeksbeforetheirusual time.Ihopeyouhavebeenabletoadmirethemovertheholidayweekend andperhapsgetasfarasoneofourchurches;welookforwardtoa‘proper’ FlowerFestivalinJulyinhonourofour1600anniversary,butyouwouldbe forgivenforthinkingwewereinthemiddleofonerightnow,sobeautifully ourbuildingshavebeendecoratedfortheEastercelebrations.Saturday morningisahiveofactivityintimeforourevening‘ServiceofLight’when thenewflameisbroughtintothedarkbuildingandthePascalcandlelit afresh.Iamcarefulnottothankourflowerarrangersfortheworktheydo forGod,butImadesureourfullchurchcongregationmadeitsappreciation knownonSundaymorning.EasterDay,andwerolledthestoneawayfrom thetombinourEasterGardenandgavethanksforGod’sgreatgiftstous. ThethemeofmyaddressthisEasterSundaywas Get a life – forthisiswhat, Iamsure,Godwantseachofustodo .
