CONVERGENT PACIFIC Transit Projects

South 200th Street Link Extension,

For this ’s first Design/Build project involving 1.5 mile of aerial structure, track and two stations, Convergent Pacific is responsible for the special trackwork design. CP also provides design support during construction.

University U830 Systems and Track Construction, Seattle Washington

Convergent Pacific is held by the contractor, Stacy & Witbeck, as the engineer of record for track installation plans and temporary structural support design for the trackwork.

CP is in design of structural supports/mounting of all the equipment for the system contractor – Siemens.

Portland to Milwaukie Light Rail- East Segment, Portland Oregon

For this 6 mile LRT project, CP provided Light rail alignment, alternative analyses, and special trackwork design during preliminary engineering

Structural design and review of 3 bridges and over 20 retaining walls during final engineering

Construction staking survey for two bridges, 6 retaining walls and traffic signal pole locations during construction

East Link: South Bellevue to Overlake Transit Center Final Design Project, Seattle Washington

CP is providing CAD drafting support to light rail alignment, civil, architectural, structural and utility disciplines.

Interstate Project, Portland Oregon In this $350 Million project, as a vendor to PB, CP provided Design Manager for the Expo Segment which included the 4000’ Vanport Bridge. CP’s principal Hardy Li directly managed the design from preliminary engineering, TS&L, procurement development for design/build RFP and final design review. Hardy is the engineer of record for the light rail alignment.

CP also provided roadway design for the intersection modification to accommodate a new Tri-Met bus stop.

I-205 Light Rail Extension Project, Portland Oregon: CP provided light rail alignment alternative analyses and train envelope clearance check through the tunnel, bridges, stations and other obstructions for the entire 6-mile alignment; and provided independent design checks of 2 LRT bridges and is the engineer of record for 300 system pole foundations and the signal/communication and power substation buildings. The alignment studies initiated by CP near the alignment’s tail end, Clackamas Town Center, resulted in the elimination of the necessity of a pedestrian bridge from previous design by others. The elimination of the pedestrian bridge imposed a close to $1 million project saving. The studies and design were involved in very complex multiple model operations including light rail, freeway, bike/pedestrian path, bus transit center and a park & ride structure.

Portland to Milwaukie Light Rail- East Segment, Portland Oregon: CP provides light rail alignment alternative analyses and track design for the 6 mile LRT project during preliminary engineering; and structural design and review of 3 bridges and over 20 retaining walls.

Portland Mall Light Rail Project CP provided constructability review for the waterline relocation design from 60%, 90% to 100% level. CP’s detailed review of the design plans not only makes sure that the relocated waterlines were not conflicted with other existing utilities, the newly relocated utilities and the light rail utilities, but also ensures there was no water outage to any water users at various construction stages.

CP was also involved in the TS&L studies to structurally retrofit the Steel Bridge to support the new LRT track. CP provided structural design for the foundations of the substation and signal/substation buildings.

Tri-Met MAX Light Rail Improvement Project, Portland Oregon For this design/build project, CP provided Design Manager to coordinate civil and system/electrical design. CP was fully in charge of the survey and civil element design including rail alignment as built research, field topo and track alignment survey, track alignment and profile, special trackwork, rail switch heater box, drainage, demolition and restoration design, quantity estimate and specification preparation.

Portland Streetcar, Portland Oregon CP provided structural engineering services to design the pole foundations, pole and OCS cable attachment to bridges and buildings for the overhead contact system and traffic signal poles.

Seattle Streetcar Project, Seattle Washington: CP provided foundation design for the overhead contact system poles and design review for the system facility buildings.

Civic Drive Station, Gresham Oregon

For this Tri-Met project, Convergent Pacific provided structural design for the station shelter, communication building foundation, artwork foundation and ballast (retaining) walls.

Sacramento Downtown-Natomas-Airport (DNA) LRT Project

As a vender to PB, CP provided lead track alignment engineer designing and analyzing LRT alignment design for this 12-mile LRT project. Work included: conceptual studies for numerous alignment alternatives including American River crossings; coordinating engineering efforts in conjunction with EIS development; preparing LRT and roadway engineering drawings per Regional Transit (RT) design criteria; and conducting capital costs estimate.
