I drafted and pitched the initial proposal for this certificate to the Dean and Associate Dean Undergraduate Studies. POLI SCI 2PF3: The Politics of Funny, McMaster University. This second-year elective course introduces students to political behaviour with an examination of research on the effects of political satire shows, like The Daily Show, on political engagement and participation among young people. It also examines how popular forms of comedy, including stand-up and situation comedies, construct and critique social identities centred around race, national identity, gender, and LGBTQ status. POLI SCI 4SS3: Public opinion and policy, McMaster University. This fourth-year honour seminar is organized around students’ original research and analysis of public opinion surveys to understand the origins of individual support for government redistribution or pro-poor policy.
