Between Committee of City Lands and John Fulcher, John Blyth (sigs), 25 Nov. 1779 [drawing referred to, see Compt. CL Plan 71] pp3-4 Contract for making up carriage + footways on the east side of the Artillery Ground in Upper Moorfields from the curb of the footway on the north side of Chiswell Street to the north side of Worship Street. [ie City Road & Windmill Hill Row]. Not to include west footway before Mr. Moore's new building. £153. Between Committee of City Lands and Richard Powell (mark), 25 Nov. 1779. pp7-8 Poultry Compter: Contract for making two tiers of cabins, with a gallery and stairs leading to the upper tier of cabins, against the east wall of the King's Ward. £31. Between Committee of City Lands and Richard Crease junior (sig), 12 January 1780. pp28-32 Poultry Compter: Contract for major repairs including:- new tiled roof, parapets + brickwork of upper floor; new pipes, gutters etc; repair of chimney on Masters' Side; repair of 'chinese fence' on S. side of area; repair of boarding leavers + quarters etc round great yard to prevent escapes; stopping up of useless fireplaces; repairs + repainting of Mr. West's premises; repaving of yard, channels + privies; new forms for wards; iron bars for windows, repair of their casements + glass; general repair to woodwork, plastering etc. £366-14-2 [with notes of payments totally over £400 up to 17 June 1784] between Committee of City Lands and John Myles. (sig), 16 October 1782 p33-5. Wood Street Compter: Contract for repairs including repair of tiling, guttering + correction of deficiencies in water tabling. Renewal of decayed brickwork. New trimmer. Repair of privies, pipes, cisterns, the cove round top of gaol. Replacement of decayed timbers in roofs + floors etc. £235 [with note of payments up to 26 June 1783]. Between Committee of City Land and John Evans. (sig), 6 November 1782. pp45-6 Southwark Compter: Contract for repairs, mainly to chimneys, doorways + windows. Places mentioned for repair: Mr. Bevis' chamber, the keeper's apartments, the stone kitchen + the upper rooms south of the yard. New penthouse for yard & fence to be heightened in front yard. £19-18-0 [note re payments up to 3 Aug. 1785]. Between Committee of City Lands & Peter Banner, 6 May 1783 pp49-51 Contract for making a gateway and putting up temporary gates in the old wall west of Dog Bar Road directly opposite the gates next to Bunhill Row with two fences running from the same as far as the new wall east of the Artillery Ground. [ie way between Dog Bar Road & Bunhill Row north of Artillery Ground & south of Bunhill Fields Burying Ground, both these being walled]. £83 [notes of payment up to 3 Aug. 1785]. [Marginal Drawing showing iron ties]. Between Committee of City Lands and Harry Banner (sig of Peter Banner on Henry's behalf), 23 July 1783. Permanent gates 1793, ibid vol. II pp 40-1, full entry indexed under F: Artillery Ground. pp63-5 Ludgate [in Bishopsgate Workhouse]: Contract for repairs at 'New Ludgate', the keeper's apartments + chapel. These involve repairs to roof, the turret of the chapel, to leadwork, pointing of brickwork, floors including works to support the 4 new chimneys in the women's ward + the words in the upper stories, Details of these new chimneys given. (Usual fees to be paid to inspectors for preventing fires appointed by Act of Parliament). Repairs to stairs, whitening of internal brickwork + chimneys, repair of windows, plastering, to grates in tap rooms, doors, partitions. etc. £116 [notes of payments up to 28 July 1784] [stamp Duty].
