TEXAS FREE AND/OR LOW COST LEGAL SERVICES
34 C.F.R. § 300.507(b) requires the Texas Education Agency to provide information on free and low cost legal services. This list contains information about free or low cost legal service providers in the State of Texas. The list is not exhaustive and TEA, its employees, and contractors cannot provide recommendations on which provider, if any, you should choose.
Disability Rights Texas is a nonprofit corporation funded by the United States Congress to protect and advocate for the legal rights of people with disabilities in Texas. It has offices throughout the State of Texas, but is not a part of state or local government.
Legal Aid offices are located throughout Texas. They provide free civil legal services to low-income individuals and families who are unable to afford the fees of attorneys in private practice.
Lawyer Referral Service provides referrals to local attorneys. The attorney may charge a nominal fee for an initial consultation. If you hire the attorney, you and the attorney will negotiate any legal fees that you may owe.
