I have been exposed to the various practice areas handled by the firm as I interact with local and International clients, both individual and Corporate. The following are my day to day duties:

 Drafting: Pleadings for filing in Court, Demand Letters and Legal Opinions in areas such as Civil Litigation, Commercial Law and Conveyancing.  Carrying out initial client interviews and being able to prepare a detailed client instructions report after the client interview.  Preparing submissions for counsel for matters to be heard at Magistrates courts and High Court.  Handling Conveyancing processes from the initial consultations with the parties Advocates up until the transfer process.  Legal Research.

Kampala Associated Advocates is one of the largest law firms in Uganda, mainly dealing in matters of Commercial law, Civil and Criminal Law. My duties included:

 Drafting: Pleadings for filing in Court, Demand Letters and Legal Opinions in areas such as Civil Litigation, Criminal Litigation, Commercial Law and Debt collection.  Attending initial consultations with clients and being able to prepare a detailed client instructions report after the client interview.  Preparing submissions for counsel for matters to be heard at Magistrates courts, High Court and the Commercial Court.  Legal Research in Tax, on areas such as tax assessment, tax advisory and tax litigation for both individuals and corporations.  Immigration Practice.

CASE PROFILE:  Participated in advising clients on a Joint venture agreement for development of a mixed used development worth Billions of Kenya Shillings;  Lead associate in representing a multi-billion company in Kenya for a claim value of Ksh 135 Million.  Represented a client in a constitutional petition aiming to quash a cabinet moratorium banning inter country and resident adoptions;  Represented leading Hotel in a commercial lease dispute worth over Ksh 100 Million.  Assisted in representing leading Telecom Company, MTN (U) Limited in a USD 2.5million dollar dispute against Uganda Telecom Ltd;  Advised and represented clients in matters involving seeking injunctive relief against various Banks and money lending institutions.
