Launch of Thinking Cities

We are proud to launch the inaugural issue of Thinking Cities at the 2013 Polis Conference, a joint magazine by Polis and H3B Media. Thinking Cities helps steering the debate on transport. For cities and regions this is an exciting opportunity to help stakeholders understand the central role local and regional authorities play in achieving transport innovation. Thinking Cities is about exchanging ideas to give a sense of reality to the concept of the Smart City – not just the sustainable city of tomorrow, but the sustainable city of today. http://www.thinkingcities.com/

Join us for the launch cocktail! Tuesday, 3 December 2013, 18.00‐19.30h, Area 42

This will be followed by a presentation of the European Parliament's mobility policy and a visit of the Parliament mobility point.

2. Brussels Rogier intermodal node construction site and Brussels Traffic Control Centre The visit includes the construction site of the Brussels Rogier interchange which will connect Brussels public transport, parking and services in one node. Participants will then move to the Brussels Traffic Control Centre, located above Gare du Nord. It is possible to directly travel to the airport by train from Gare du Nord after this site visit.

STIB and the Belgian Railways SNCB are developing the underground of the Schuman roundabout into a state of the art urban transport hub with connecting metro and railway lines. The specificity of the area, with the European Commission and European Council headquarters surrounding the stations, makes this reconstruction project complex. The site visit will be hosted by Mr. Alain Beeckmans, president of the STIB. . Bring shoes that can stand rough terrain! . The visit ends at 16.00h at Schuman station (direct airport bus) .
