A Learning Environment of Opportunity and Challenge BREAKFAST CLUB 2020 Breakfast Club is now completed for the year. We would like to thank Arise Care for their support in running the Breakfast Club and resourcing it with the best food options. Our pancakes were most certainly the most popular choice. We look forward to working with Arise again next year, thanks again for your generosity .

JAPAN TRIVIA CHAMPIONSHIP On Friday 6 November, eight students were taken to compete in the annual Japan Trivia Championship. Our two teams of students competed against 12 other teams from around the Wellington region, as well as against other regions nationally, answering questions all about Japan in six categories. At the end, one of our teams faced off against a team from Hutt Valley High School in a tie breaker question: How many emperors has Japan had? The answer: 126. The closest guess won the competition. HVHS answered with 52. Our team answered with 126.

We brought home the trophy for the first time since the competition began in 2015 and are incredibly proud of the mahi our students put into this competition.

Team One (First Place): Lucas Noble, Jillian Chester-Dixon, Achilan Srichantapong, and Rezem Mihaka-Collier. Team Two: Lashae Hauwaho-Tiopira, Sian Rudd, Summer Bastida, and Avah Shelley.

Uniform As you are aware, Heretaunga College is a uniform school. When students are persistent in wearing their uniform incorrectly, we view this as disrespect for the mana of our school and community.

Now is the time for caregivers to ensure that students' uniforms are completely sorted. This includes making sure that hair, jewellery and piercings meet the school uniform expectations as outlined in the student and caregiver handbooks.

Students will not be permitted into classes with incorrect uniform. Students will no longer be issued with a permit for non-uniform items. Students who arrive at school without correct uniform will be provided with clean uniform items to borrow for the day.

For a medical exemption, students are to bring a medical certificate and will be provided with a permit.

We now have a school hoodie and therefore no other hoodie (including the HC sport hoodie) is viewed as part of the HC uniform.

Correct uniform wearing by students at our school demonstrates their respect for the school and our PRIDE values.

Please contact the college if you are requiring support in obtaining correct uniform items.

Please name your students uniform. We can return lost items quicker if they are named. A Learning Environment of Opportunity and Challenge
