VALE Ronald Denis Trusty 16/12/1930-03/04/2020 By Craig Trusty

It is my great pleasure to pen a few words about my father and Panania RSL Youth Soccer Club Life Member, Ron Trusty. Born in Kent, England in 1930 to a working class family, Dad enjoyed a simple life but the great love of his childhood was Football / Soccer. Whether playing in the streets with his brother and other neighbourhood kids or listening to broadcasts on the radio, it was a passion that never left him. At the age of 19, Dad left England for with the dream of a better life and future and upon arrival in quickly obtained work in his trade at a tailor. He met his future wife, Shirley, in that workplace and the Tailor and the Tailoress were married at the age of 24 and purchased their first family home in Hinemoa St, Panania. As their three children came along – Paul, Craig and then Susan, Dad went to night school and gained his qualifications as an Accountant. As we boys grew, Dad’s passion for ‘the game’ were passed on and about 1965 the family’s connection with the Club began. Firstly, through Paul and I at the soccer club and later with Mum and Sue at the Netball Club. During those foundation years of the club, enthusiastic parents were the ones that kept things going. Early mornings of ground preparations, line marking the fields, goal net installs, tent erections for the canteen for soft drinks, pies, sausage rolls and lollies. Those were exciting times for our family and our weekends were filled with sport and the socialising that comes with club involvement. Dad, with his professional skills willingly took on the role of the Club’s Treasurer, counting the takings from the canteen, raffles and other sundry funds, balancing the books, banking and auditing records were all taken in his stride with the support of his loyal wife. These activities went on for many, many seasons and with Dad’s involvement and many other dedicated like-minded men and women, these were the solid foundations from which were built the successful Football Club it is today. Ron Trusty lived his life well and was grateful for its outcomes. Dad always had time for others, always interested in them more than himself. He was most humbled to be given the great honour of Life Membership to Panania RSL Youth Soccer Club but like many during that time didn’t seek any recognition for what he considered was ‘just doing his bit’. He was a great role model to all and we were extremely lucky and proud to have him as our Father. Regards and best wishes to all from Craig Trusty

PRESIDENT’S REPORT It is with pride and pleasure that I present my 12th report as President of this wonderful club. This year was undoubtedly the most difficult, frustrating and draining of all. Here’s how it panned out: • Our fields should have been rebuilt after last season but a series of delays resulted in the plans being put back a year. • With a trial under our belt and the season about to start, the COVID-19 lockdown began and the season was put on hold. • At that stage we didn’t know if there would be any season, and when Council offered the opportunity of an early start on the fields we took it, given it was almost certain we the fields would be ready for use at the start of next season. • Council also offered to get started on our clubhouse renovations, using the Federal Government grant allocated to us last year. We met, they drafted plans, we made some alterations and work is under way, again due to be finished in time for next season. • And then the season did start! We were hopeful of keeping our fields until September but come the first week of August we were out. This involved: o Relocating 54 teams for training across 5 grounds in the area o Moving equipment from Kelso to Kinch and Reserve to set up for our “home” games. o Operating from unfamiliar grounds and canteen without access to our usual clothing, equipment and supplies. o Catering for much smaller than usual crowds. We are greatly appreciative of those clubs who shared their grounds and facilities, enabling us to get through this most difficult of seasons. To , Milperra, Revesby Workers, St Christophers, Padstow Hornets and Sports Stars – thank you! In the end we lost a few teams due to the extension of the season, HSC, COVID fears, and sheer disinterest. We ended up fielding 54 teams, comprising well over 700 players and over 100 officials, still by far the largest club in the Bankstown district. We had 24 SSG Teams in Grades 6 to 11; 17 teams in the Junior Grades 12 to 18; and 13 Senior teams. Of our 30 competitive sides 20 made the semis, of those 2 were successful in winning their competitions and 3 were runners up. Not our best year result wise but this was far from a normal season, winning really wasn’t the focus this year, just getting teams on the park was a bonus. Again, we had minimal disciplinary and conflict issues, which is a credit to all involved with the club. Our Joeys program was again run by Mike Millen and his excellent band of helpers. COVID knocked these numbers around also, we’ll be recruiting hard next year to develop Panania’s “Next Gen”! Your committee held its fourth dedicated planning session last December where we continued development of our Operations Manual and discussed ways of doing things better. Some of these were implemented, but we certainly didn’t plan for COVID! Unfortunately COVID also stopped us having any functions this year, and sponsorships were well down on previous years. However, the club remains in a strong financial position and will continue to strive to provide our community with the best possible facilities and support. Our AGM was held on November 9, combined with the Coaches & Managers Thank You Drinks, and I’m pleased to say I was re-elected President so will serve my 13th year in 2021. Our Canteen Manager, Jodie Lavin, has finally carried out her threat to stand down, Jodie has done an outstanding job for the club over many years and deserves a break! To the committee as a whole, who continue to work together to ensure the club operates effectively, my sincere thanks and appreciation for all your efforts. In addition to our committee there are innumerable players, officials, family members and friends of the club who put their hand up to help whenever asked, and often without being asked. Thank you to all those who have contributed over the year. To everyone who was a part of our club this year, thank you for hanging in there for the tough times, I sincerely hope you will be back with us next year to enjoy our wonderful fields and facilities – not to mention the great people. 2021 is going to be big! That’s it for this year, see you next season. Bob Bell, President

Coach: Dan Moy & Sherif Mansour The highlights of the season were: • A big thank you to all parents for the year. I think a quote that Kathy Petrakis made during the year, really sums it up quite nicely… “The best soccer team to date.... and I've been soccer mum for past 16 years ... it was a pleasure guys... gorgeous adorable kids, all with their own little personalities and quirks... and the parents... well what can I say... tip top!” • To all my little guys in the team – you guys are the best and Saturday mornings in soccer season is my favourite time of the year because of you! Thank you. • Big shout out to Coach Sherif for helping out when there were a few conflicts towards the end of the year with the U11’s team that I was also coaching. • Thank you once again to Bob and the committee, especially during the year that was and will always be remembered as the COVID year. Not an easy job at the best of times.! •

Really turned on the pace and showed us how fast he is. Well done Jabril and thank you. 2 Isaac Mansour Really got stuck in this year and is always improving. Tackling more and showing no fear. All that practice with Dad during COVID paid off! Well done and thank you 3 Bailey Moy Our rough and tough last line of defence more often than not. Made some great tackles, took some big hits and kept on getting up. Well done & thankyou Bailey! 4 Billy Petrakis Billy’s second year and he just keeps on getting better and better and with every game as it turned out. Great to see him getting more confident with tackling. Great work Billy and keep the focus! Watch out for this little star next year – he is gonna blitz’em with his dribbling. Thank you and great job. 7 Izaya Moustafa Another player who came to soccer for the first time this year. This guy has a massive heart and never stops trying. It paid off too with a goal or two and some superb performances. Great job and thank you.

7 Yellow Coach: Alicia and Nick Kastrounis Manager: Cassandra Kalinderidis Players’ Player: Ava Martin We had an adventurous year with a few new players and lots of parent enthusiasm. We will all remember the game at Stuart Park where about 3/4 of the way through the season, the mums screamed so loud after the kids scored a goal, that the guys in the canteen down the other end of the fields could hear us. It had been so long since we had scored we all thought it was our first goal of the season. With all of our newbies scoring at least 1 goal through the season and many saved by our defenders, it was a season of growth. The Team Abraham Wahhab Anthony Kalinderidis Ava Martin Cooper Kumcevski Ethan Forliano Hayden Russo Jayce Kastrounis

. 8 Green Coach: Martin Folan Manager: Michael Smith Players’ Player: Mitchell Smith Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 12 7 4 1 41 26

22

The highlights of the season were: • The 3-0 come back to a nail biting 3-3 final 5 minutes against Bankstown Strikers. The shear determination of the kids to mount a counterattack was inspiring to watch! • Vaughn and Alisa’s debut season goals! • Charbel’s mad goal keeper skills! Saving multiple shots in a row and scrambling on the ground to save what looked like a sure thing for the other team! The Team Name Commentary 1 Mitchell Smith Mitchell is our players player this year. He has become a defensive powerhouse of the team, not only in his own positioning and awareness but also in organising and communicating with his teammates. Mitchell has also become famous for his fantastic LONG shots at goal, which are a spectacular thing to see! 2 Ben Folan Bens positioning awareness and increased ball skills made him an exceptional asset to the team, particularly in defence and mid-field. He always gives his all covering back and after winning the ball is quick to attack and get the pass forward. When he scores goals, he kicks so hard his boots sometimes follow! 3 Logan McKinley Logan showed us his talents as a goalkeeper this season and in our first game saved an unknown number of goals. His tackling and passing skills have improved immensely this season and he is a key part of the team. 4 William Barbagallo Will is a true sportsman, always supportive of his team mates as they improve their skills and win or lose he is always respectful of other teams. Williams’ speed on the pitch is hard to match, sometimes making it difficult to change direction close to the sidelines, but when he gets free with the ball at his feet he can really fly! 5 Charbel Barakat Charbel puts a huge amount of himself into every game. His footwork is off the charts and when he gets an opportunity at goal he takes it. As we found this season, his talents are not restricted to that of a striker, he also showed some great skill as a goalkeeper including under some very high pressure moments! 6 Nikolina Barakat Nikolina became our super sub this season. Opting to save her energy at the start of the game, when she came on she would give her all and get stuck into some goal saving tackles and clearance kicks. I think she was taking the time to study the other teams weaknesses before making her move. 7 Cooper Dale Cooper’s skills on and off the ball continue to improve year on year. He knows how to get into a good position, win the ball and how to score goals! He has also grown to show some real leadership skills and is a driving force within the team. 8 Vaughn Greenwell Vaughn is one of our new players in the team this season and become part of the team straight away. Always willing to learn something new at training and have fun with his friends Vaughn has grown in confidence and ability throughout the season. His first goal after all the hard work he put in was a great celebration for the whole team! 9 Alysa Thompson Alysa is our second new player to team for the season. As our second girl on the team she helped to bring some balance to the force. Alysa’s football skills have improved greatly over the course of the season, particularly her tackling and passing. We saw some great long high passes from Alysa that allowed the team to get straight back on the offensive. Alysa’s goal in one of our final games was awesome and just rewards for all her hard work.

8 Red Coach: Jamie Erkin Manager: Rachael Erkin & Robyn Eisenhuth Players’ Player: Tanapat Kheawkham The Team Blake Eisenhuth Callan Thomas Jackson Vaughan Jacob Hepehi Jayden Margi Jonathan King Mischa Erken Nadia Cousins Oliver Busby Oliver Madarac Tanapat Kheawkham Report: 2020! The season I’m sure we’ll all never forget. One training session, one trial game and then the dreaded Coronavirus graced us with its presence. Needless to say, when the season finally officially kicked off we had 11 extremely excited kids to get on the field! With a combination of increasing to a larger playing field, more players on the pitch and essentially a brand new team from last season, it took a few weeks for the kids to find their feet (pun intended) and settle in. We didn’t get many wins under our belt this season, but this was by no means a reflection of the effort and improvement the team made. We learnt how important it is to play as a team, to pass the ball, to back up your teammates and that although everyone would like to be the goalie, there can only be one! Grounding down the fundamentals of the game and teaching the kids to be good sports win or lose (with an elbow tap at the end of each game) was a huge aspect of the coaching this season and we hope this sets the kids up for an even better season next year. A special thank you to our families this year. It’s been a tricky season to navigate, but the effort was all worth it! A fantastic effort from all our girls and boys this year. I hope you’re all as proud of yourselves as your coaches and parents are of you. Well done!

8/9 Ladies A Coach: Sue Curtis Manager: Sandra De Jesus Players’ Player: Gracie Curtis Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 13 13 0 0 105 3 The highlights of the season were: • What a team and what a season! The challenges of 2020 did not affect this group of determined girls. With a mixture of new and existing families, we got off to a great start, convincingly winning our preliminary trails before the season was pulled to a halt! • Surprisingly, the break had little impact on this group who took the field week after week with determination, grit and a will to win. The display of sportsmanship and comradery amongst these girls was second to none and I could not be prouder of their collective effort! • Finishing the season undefeated, conceding only 3 goals was a testament to their character, skill and never give up attitude. Congratulations girls! The Team Name Commentary 1 Emma Emma likes to move around the pitch, displaying grit and determination, Williamson particularly in defence. 2 Gracie Curtis The powerhouse in the team. Gracie’s power and direction behind the ball enabled her to slot goals from all over the pitch. 3 Hazel Curtis Hazel is agile on the ball, often weaving in and out of players before offloading a pass or striking for goal. 4 Indiana Glasby Indiana has a never give up attitude and likes to play up front, waiting for any opportunity that comes her way. 5 Ivy Vaccaro Ivy has great technique on the ball. Her ability to change direction was entertaining to watch. 6 Mia Petkovic A natural defender. Mia was often our last line of defence, able to hold the opposition out until her back up troops arrived. 7 Lauren Brophy Lauren understands football, often purposely positioning herself for the perfect crossover. 8 Lilly Brown Lilly is a work horse in the midfield, both in attack and defence, always looking for the ball. 9 Lillian Catling Lily is determined and has no fear, taking on any player regardless of size. A natural defender who was very reliable in the backline.

8/9 Ladies B Coach: Joe Busuttil Manager: Craig Lippett Players’ Player: Anika Ralevski Coach’s Report: This season was challenging, rewarding and exciting. My team of girls were a unique, diverse group of players with either little to no soccer experience to others who kicked off their soccer journey from the joeys. Playing on a larger field, learning new rules such as throw ins, fulfilling their new role as a Goal keeper to understanding the fundamental rules of soccer were the many obstacles that this team of superstars had to overcome. Pre-planning training sessions incorporating a ‘player-centered approach’ facilitated the enormous development of the girls. Fun, engaging training sessions combined with theme –based activities had my team readily prepared and eager to kick-off the season. As the season progressed, the remarkable development of these soccer stars was evident. Fostering the love for the beautiful game, they learned to strike the ball, one touch pass, execute positional play and most importantly to have fun in a positive, competitive environment. As their coach, it brings me great joy seeing their beaming smiles after our training sessions and matches even after a loss. Throughout the season, we competed against superior, older opposition who tested the girls playing ability. With their enthusiastic attitude, team spirit and persistence they held their composure. This team was a pleasure to coach and I hope I see them all return next season to learn and excel playing soccer. Thank you to Craig Lippett who managed the team, assisting with game day time-keeping and player substitutions, purchasing of the player of the week trophies, creating the player of the week certificates and training all the goal keepers in preparation for match day. This was vital in ensuring the team were ready to compete and also be rewarded for all of their efforts. Thank you to all the parents for your support, commitment and assistance throughout the season. A big thank you to Panania Diggers Soccer Club President, Bob Bell and committee members for all your tireless efforts in ensuring our season kicked off in such uncertain times.

The highlights of the season were: • Watching the team, play as a team. The boys supported one another in every game showing true comradery. As a coach, I couldn’t be prouder. • Winning every game! • John Psomas’s sideline coaching / commentary during the games. The Team Name Commentary 1 Mikel Bayrante This season was Mikel’s first season with the team and boy did he make an entrance. What a player. You can tell this kid lives and breathes football in the way that he plays. His skill and fancy foot work made the defenders look like they were standing still. He has an amazing ability to read the play for his age. Well done Mikel and thanks for being such a great sport. 2 Nathan Ferrier Nathan has improved 10-fold this season. His fearless attitude when going into tackles has made him an asset to the team. He’s established himself as a great defender. Well done Nathan and thank you for all your effort this season. 3 Jayden Hassan Jayden has been a standout this year. He listens, takes on board what he’s taught and executes plays like a pro. Jayden always supports his teammates by creating plays, and consistently showed up every game, every week. Jayden you’ve had a great season and well done, your efforts have been amazing. Thanks for all your hard work. 4 Jacob Ismail Jacob was everywhere you needed him to be on the field this season. Playing in the centre this year gave him a sense of purpose and he grew as a player. Jacob’s ability to pass the ball and create plays shows he has a good understanding of the game. Well done on another great season Jacob and thanks for your efforts champion. 5 Nathaniel Jones Nate is the team’s dominant left footer. He had a great season. He didn’t shy away from tackles and scored his first goal near the end of the season, which he was immensely proud of. The team cheered like they had won the grand final when he scored. Well done on a great season Nate, you killed it. 6 Marco Marco is the team’s primary defender, and he didn’t disappoint this season. Naidovski He loves to control the back and ensure no one gets past him. If he wasn’t the defender, he was in the goals. Well done Marco you’re a valuable player, thanks for your effort this season. 7 George Psomas George, what a gun. George’s kicks are like rockets. What makes him such a great player is that his strike rate on target is near perfect. George excelled this season by learning how to give himself space and opening up the defence. A valuable player and a great kid, awesome effort George. 8 Harley Waters Harley is always in the right place at the right time. He has a great ability to read the play and find himself an opening so that the other players can feed him the ball. So many goals scored, including an amazing header during one of the last season’s games. Well done Harley on a great season.

9 Red Coach: Mario Favotto and Paull Walker Manager: Jackie Paul Players’ Player: Christian Lescesin Parents’ Player: Tamika Paul Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 13 10 3 0 The highlights of the season were: Our 2-girl strong defence was like a wall for our opponents, in particular, Tamika who often gave the boys from the opposing team a rude shock of girl power when they bounced off her to find themselves horizontal and embarrassed on the turf. Harley, hungry, hungry goal scorer, although not his position of strength he continued to impress the coaches with his determination and confidence to compete up front. All season he never gave up on his dream to score a goal. The excitement of that first goal only motivated him to score more. Annual kids vs parents match; parents have been happily undefeated for the last few years. The rivalry was fierce with many unsuccessful attempts at goals as kids swarmed adults like annoying locusts chopping us down to size. Many parents stepped up performing long forgotten soccer plays of their youth. Sadly, we lost for the first time ever, either a sign of our age or our superior coaching skills. Be prepared Diggers under 10’s for next year, parents are coming back with a vengeance and more Dencorub® cream. The Team Name Commentary 1 Emily Walker Emily’s achieved her goal from last year in defence and teamed up with Tamika to become a formidable defensive powerhouse feared by those who dared to attack. Great improvement, Dad’s proud! 2 Harley Kegg Harley’s goal was to be more physical and chase the ball more from last year, that box was ticked early, and his dashing runs forward paid off with a cracking goal that wowed the crowd. GOAL!!!!!!!!! 3 Spencer Favotto Once dubbed the jack of all trades but now is THE SPIDERMAN OF THE GOALS. At times it was like Spencer had cast a web across the goal mouth frustrating teams with his faster than light saves as goalkeeper. 4 Angelo Karavelas Terrier was his nick name, terrier he was both on and off the field. Angelo’s goal is still the left foot but had vast improvement in this area. When he plays tough our opponents back off and the result tends to go our way. 5 Thomas Gemmell ONE OF THE COACHES FAVOURITES, can be dazzling with his foot work at times tricking the opponents and even himself sometimes they are that fast. A great team player bringing plenty of laughs. 6 Tamika Paul AKA “THE BULLDOZER” Tough as nails with courage of steel and the other teams left the ground wondering what just hit them. Tamika’s best year yet and she formed a great defensive partnership with Emily. Crowd favourite! 7 Christian Lescesin “BEWARE DEADLY” should be listed on the dangerous species list, give him half a chance and you can expect a rocket-like shot with either foot directly into the top corners. Looking forward to more physicality which he showed glimpses of this year to become the total predator. 8 Harrison Hawkins COACH OF THE YEAR, Harrison unfortunately due to illness was unable to complete the year but took the reigns as coach. Harrison has a 100% strike rate and showed great leadership qualities with picking the team and positions. Thanks for your help. 30

9 Noah Aube What an improvement this year, OUTSTANDING! The kicking improvement was off the scales along with his involvement in general play. He copped a few good knocks throughout the year but soldiered on and never let his team down. Keep up the great work! 10 Jacob Abi-Assaf When Jacob’s on his game WE WIN, SIMPLE. Can dribble with both feet, strong on the ball and when he starts to look up before shooting the goals will flow. The one to watch going forward. 11 Suriya Royal “SECRET WEAPON” and so glad she returned this year. Suriya has the ability to read the game better than most. With a little fine tuning I anticipate she will be a leading goal scorer in the near future. You can also tell she has a big brother, sure won’t let those boys push her around. Love it! Thank you, players, parents and coaches, for another exciting and successful soccer season despite all the disruptions of the Pandemic. Congratulations to you all for persisting and enjoying the game of soccer. Go Diggers!

9 Yellow Coach: Paul Bayley Manager: Paul Bayley Players’ Player: Kayla Peters Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 10 4 5 1 29 32

2020 was a season that was unlike any other. Pandemic aside, we only had 5 players this year and a coach that was managing 2 teams. The team learnt a lot about resilience, determination and sportsmanship. The highlights of the season were: • We won 2 of our games with only 5 players. • When the draw accommodated it, we were lucky enough to grab some players from the other U9s teams. That always gave the team a boost. • Our second last game against Bankstown Sports Stars for the 5th time was our strongest game. Not only did we all play our best, but we pulled together as a team and won the game 4-1.

Thank you to Julie and Paull from the other U9 teams this year. They provided us with additional players when they could. The team appreciated being able to field a complete team when they could. The players that filled in just slotted in where they were needed and felt like part of the team. A huge thank you to the parents. Managing 2 teams that played at almost the same time each week is not easy, but having parents jump in and assist when I had to be at another park made the season possible. Your support throughout the season meant the team didn’t miss out. Looking forward to another successful year in 2021. 31

The Team Name Commentary 1 Nicholas Bayley Nicholas was our resident Goalkeeper this year. There were times that you couldn’t understand how a boy that small could stop so many shots at goal. He improved his skills significantly throughout the season, particularly his goal kicks and passing. Nicholas also had success up the front scoring several goals. Great effort, Nicholas. 2 Zayd Darwich Zayd was our resident striker and new to the team this year. He managed to fit into the team well and throughout the season learnt how to support the team rather than just play up the front. His effort up the front often paid dividends resulting in several goals being set up or scored by him. Well done, Zayd. 3 Benjamin Dzambic Benji comes across as unassuming, but dot be fooled. He had a solid year this year up front, in goals and in defence. Benji was a great support to the team, setting up many goal-scoring opportunities and even scoring some himself. His defensive game improved every week and was overall a pleasure to watch. Keep up the good work, Benji. 4 Kayla Peters Every week Kayla showed why she was this year’s players player. Her sportsmanship is excellent, always putting the team first. Kayla’s determination to win the ball is second to none whether in defence of up front and she has a mean kick to boot. Her defence saved dozens of goals, to the frustration of our opponents. Congratulations on an amazing year, Kayla. 5 James Willis James’ confidence improved throughout the season. He always has a smile on his face and is keen to get on the field and get on with the game. James often played goalkeeper and did a great job. He always puts in his best effort regardless of the position he plays. Nice work, James.

She became our second goalkeeper and improved every game. She even went up front and scored a goal. Best Part of her Game: Never gave up.

10 Green Coach: Martin Whitear Manager: Tim Marsh Players’ Player: Ava Gaughan Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 11 2 7 2 20 41 The highlights of the season were: • First time goal scorers for the Club – Jeremiah Smith and Matthew Williamson – both cracking goals. The looks on both the boys faces was GOLD. • Converting to a larger field this season we started slow losing our first 5 games and conceding 27 goals and only scoring 8, our backs were against the wall but, to the kids credit, the back end of the season was excellent. The team clicked and we saw some great results, we scored some excellent goals and had great team work from back to forward to set the goals up. The last 6 games we had 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses conceding 14 goals and scoring 12, so the improvement was very visible. The losses were against very very good teams, so the kids should be proud of the finish. • This bunch of kids are well mannered and respectful to each other, the opposition and the referees. I’m proud of how the boys have grown as a team. The Team Name Commentary 1 James Mitchell James is super competitive and energetic, he has a never say die attitude and gives it 110% each and every week. James scored 4 goals this year but only 1 for us, in saying that, it was James who put himself in defending positions to try and stop goals so he should be proud of his season. It will reverse in 2021 mate, you will net lots for us. ☺ 2 Alexander Bova Alexander had another solid season at left back, he has started to run the ball out of defence and look for team mates to pass to, so developing each year. Alexander finished the season in the goals and was excellent pulling off some great saves. 3 Gemma Howard Gemma finished the year with close to 3 best player of the game awards. For a little figure, Gemma sure does pack a punch and never gives up. She is fast across the field and can cover multiple positions, she was dynamite at left back at the end of the season. 4 Michael Whitear Michael had his best season. He moved back from striker and played majority of the year in the midfield, which saw him get loads more possession and he really grew in confidence, some great passing and tackling so well done Michael. 5 Curtis Marsh Curtis had a solid season, he was hampered by a leg injury but persisted to play on and be out there with his team mates playing his best game against Milperra, netting a brace. Curtis scored 3 goals this year and was again solid at the right half position and slipping back to cover defence when needed. 6 Zoe Chamakos Zoe again this year was our rock at the back defusing attacking raids. Zoe has a good presence of mind on the field and can read the play putting herself in great positions to clear the ball and make crunching tackles. Well done, Zoe. 7 Ava Gaughan Ava was our Player of the Year. Ava scored 5 goals this season and with some luck could have had 3 or 4 more, her speed, desire and hunger to succeed was a real threat for all opposition teams matching it against everyone. Ava has made the left side of the field her own in defence and attack dominating the opposition. Great year, Ava. 34

8 Christian Margi Christian was our leading goal scorer netting 9 goals this year. Christian has a touch of class about him netting some very well thought out and perfect finishes. If Christian can increase his desire off the ball, he will be a force to be reckoned with next season and his goal tally could double. 9 Jeremiah Smith Jeremiah scored his first goal for the club this season, a 25 metre crack against Padstow which brought the crowd to their feet, was a look of shock and excitement on the big fella’s face. Jeremiah continues to improve, loads more possession this season and improved skillset so well done, Bullfrog. 10 Matthew Williamson Matthew scored his first goal of the season in one of the team’s best performances against a classy Bass Hill team, this was a 30 metre thunderbolt which got us back in the game, a double handed fist pump from Matthew said it all. Matthew is getting better each season, he is growing in confidence and his defence and his running attack is excellent. 11 Kiran York Kiran had the task not many want, goal keeper, but to Kiran’s credit, he turned up ready to go at training and in the games taking some big hits to his fingers, wrists and body, he had a solid season in the long green sleeves. Thankyou, Kiran for being the keeper.

10 Red Coach: Ian Sinclair Manager: Kirsty Mitas Players’ Player: Toby Mitas Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 13 10 1 2 57 17 The highlights of the season were: • Getting through to the second last game of the season before our one and only loss. • Round 2 – our highest scoring game. The team won 14-1 with both Chris and Fred scoring a massive 5 goals each. • Seeing the players during multiple games pull together when they were being beaten only to turn it around and win the game. • The team spirit – never did the players resort to “dirty play”, but always kept it fair and clean. • While each player had a favourite position, everyone was always willing to step in where needed.

11 Red Coach: Dan Moy & Liam Hewitt Players’ Player: Thomas Smallwood Coaches’ Players of the Year: Lachlan Dunn/Sean O’Brien (tied) Great Mate of the Year Award: Levi Haggett Golden Boot Award: Thomas Smallwood (8) Report: A big thank you to all parents for the year. To all the players in the team – you guys had plenty of things thrown at you this year. Lost players to Reps, other teams, other codes, COVID, new coaches, new positions, new formation - the lot! To your credit you took it all on and you have all achieved more than you realise. It was great to see you come together and work more as a team this year and even more so to see you support and encourage each other more. You will one day realise that this will be your strongest asset as part of being a successful team. You are only as strong as your weakest link and you must help, support and encourage everyone in your team to be successful. 37

Big shout out to young Coach Liam for coming on board as a Coach this year. The support you provided me is greatly appreciated and the introduction of new drills and skills that I tasked you with to present to the players at training helped every single one of the team this year become even better players. Thank you once again to Bob and the committee, during the year that we played through a Pandemic. Not an easy job at the best of times.

The Team Name Commentary 1 Benjamin What a big year for Ben. Pushed him a little out of his comfort zone and saw Bone immediate results improving his game and even scoring a goal towards the end of year. Keep on pushing Ben. Well done and thank you. 2 Josiah From memory this could have been “JoJo's” first year of soccer and he improved Davids game in game out. With the added temptation of a KFC bucket at stake - we also saw a goal from JoJo at the end of the year. Well done and thanks, JoJo. 3 Ryley Dick It was great to see Ryley back in one of the teams I was coaching. Her never say die approach, continuous hassling and tackling of the opponents in defence is something I never get tired of watching. Thankyou Ryley and well done on a great year. 4 Lachlan A welcome addition back into the team, Lacho is a guy that just loves the game, Dunn loves to play and it shows on the field. He can play any position and does any job you ask of him and does it well, without question. Takes out the Coaches’ Player of the Year award this year. Well done Lacho and thank you. 5 Charbel The never say die approach that Charbel takes with his soccer is a credit to him Habib and how he plays the game and it too saw him score a goal this year against Milperra Lions. Great work Charbel and thank you. 6 Levi Levi is the guy you trust with your life. Our trusted centre back who is always in Haggett the right spot at the right time and reads the play extremely well. He is also the guys that leads from the front especially when it comes to supporting and encouraging his teammates. As a result, Levi got our Great mate of the year award this year. Thankyou Levi and congrats on a great year. 7 Lucas Wow what a difference a year makes! This was by far Lucas’ best year. I think. Martin Scoring goals, saving goals, jumping back on the park straightaway even after getting injured, it was great to see you play like you did this year and it was even better to see how much you enjoyed it. Well done and thank you Lucas. 8 Jayden Jayden is our silent achiever, and few people may realise just how important his Moussa role in the team was and how effective he was, as a key component of the team. Often the one who would create chances for himself and others around him. A very unselfish player and critical to our attacking success. Thankyou Jayden and well done.

38

9 Cooper One of our two main goalkeepers this year who wanted to take on the Moy responsibility of keeping the ball out of the back of our net and did this well all year with some especially great saves throughout. It needs to go past 11 players, not just a goalkeeper for the other team to score a goal but having Cooper there with his partner in crime Aiden, gave us that extra bit of added security doing a great job with his role as keeper and as a fullback when not goalkeeping. Great job and thank you Cooper 10 Sean Now Sean may be smaller in size than most other players on the park but his O’brien little guy is one of the most determined, strong minded players you will see on the park and he has the skills to back it up. Improved throughout the year scoring a hat-trick in the game at Kelso against Padstow United & 6 for the year. 11 Aidan A Coach’s dream and a great new addition to the team. Aiden also stuck his Price hand up for goalkeeping and did a great job. Like his goalkeeping partner in crime Cooper, felt comfortable and performed well as a defender whether in goals or as a defender. When also tasked to play as a striker I think he surprised himself, playing that role well and nearly scoring a goal on a few occasions. Thank you and well done. 12 Drew Prior Unfortunately, we were Without Drew for much of the start of the season due to a broken arm/wrist. A tall, strong defender with a very important role for us at the back with Levi, but has a natural scoring ability also which saw Drew creating chances and scoring goals on many well-timed occasions when we were in the opponents half. 13 Thomas Despite missing the last few games this year Thomas still racked up enough Smallwood votes to win the Players Player of the year award and deservedly so. Took on a new position this year as our main central midfielder and showed just how much of a true allrounder he is not only to create chances for others, but he can score from anywhere, scoring 6 in one game at Kelso and 8 for the year. Possesses great skills, listens and is always supporting and encouraging others around him. Thankyou Thomas and congratulations.

Grade 11 Ladies Coach: Mark Weir and Brent Smithwick Manager: Jas Jovevski Players’ Player: Angela Tsamoulos Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 11 10 1 0 36 4 Report: Well this has been one hell of a year! This is the first year that all of the girls have come together to form a very strong ladies team. This was reflected in the results throughout the season with them only losing one game out of 11 games. The aim of this year was to prepare the girls for full competition in 2021 and they did not disappoint. The girls now have established positions along with a good understand of formation and skills. The most rewarding part of this year was to see every single player grow in confidence, skill and an understanding of the game, Brent and I are just so proud of each one of them. Thank you so much to Jas our Manager for keeping both myself and Brent organised along with all the work behind the scenes. Thank you to the parents for the commitment over the season and ensuring that the girls were at training and ready to go on game day. 39

The girls have become a very tight team and they are not the same team compared to the start of the season. The passing game they showed us during the back end of the season was so great to watch and it’s a credit to the girls by putting in the efforts during training, it really paid off in the games. The girls have done both myself and Brent so proud with how they have conducted themselves and I can’t wait to see what is in stall for this team next year. I’m sure we will continue to be one of the strongest in the competition moving forward. Thank you for allowing us to be your coaches this year and we are excited to continue next year for the girls first competitive season. So proud of you all, well done!

The Team Name Commentary 1 Angela Angela is by far one of the best players in the competition. She had a change of Tsamoulos position this year by moving into the midfields and it was like a duck taking to water, Angela is also one of our co-captain’s. Her attacking game was really nice to watch but the most impressive part of her game was her cover defence, where she was always quick to get back to help the fullbacks when needed. Fantastic season! 2 Ellen Ellen was another one of those players where as a coach, you’re comfortable Abdallah she will just get the job done in the midfields. Her confidence continued to build throughout the season with her position and in 2021 we would like to see her get out of her comfort zone and believe in herself so she can play as a striker. A great season, well done! 3 Hayley One of the youngsters in the team and new to the larger field, Hayley did a great Weir job in defence. Hayley continues to grow in confidence in the game and being is beginning to read when to go in for a tackle or when to hold off putting pressure on the attacker and waiting for a mistake to happen. Great season, Hayley! 4 Tahlia This was the first time Tahlia had played soccer so there was a bit of switching Jovevski her around to find her position at the start of the season, but we eventually found out that she could go in any position on the field. We were so impressed on how quick she picked up the game and become a solid player. Tahlia has a great turn of speed in attack and her defence is solid. I look forward to seeing her grow even more in 2021 season. 5 Kayla Kayla is our other Co- Captain and she really stood up and showed the team how Pargovski things should be done. Kayla is a very strong leader and showed this in the middle of the field. She has a no nonsense method of attack and defence, Kayla dominated in the middle of the field. Kayla is a pleasure to coach. Well done on a great season! 6 Ashley Another one of the younger players and first season with the larger field but this Tomanovic year Ashley really came out of her shell and her confidence grew in the all-girl competition. Ashley was really starting to hit her straps with finishing and got some great goals up front before an injury to her foot impacted her in the back end of the season. Ashley continues to grow and build in confidence, so I expect some bigger and better things to come 2021. You did us proud Ashley, well done this season! 7 Adele One of the fastest on the field, Adele was put up front to put pressure on the Hayes opposition’s fullbacks and Adele did this very well. Adele started a little quiet at the start of the season but found her confidence and voice as the season went on. Adele is one of those players you need in the team as she seemed to have an endless amount of energy. Adele can play in multiple positions, so for 2021 we really believe that she will come into her own on the full field and this will benefit for her. Really impressive season, well done! 8 Kaewa What a season for Kaewa. She started a little a quiet but as the season went on McComish she became a powerhouse up front. Kaewa never once shied away from going in hard and fast up front. We moved her around but she really showed us what she could do up front with her strong plays. Kaewa took on board everything we showed her, so look out in 2021, she is one to watch. Fantastic season! 40

9 Ariana Ariana’s confidence as did her self-belief, she just kept growing as the season McComish went on. Arianna played really well in left midfield and was a strong player. She tried her hand at goalkeeper and she excelled in that position with some fantastic saves. By the end of the season she turned out to be a very reliable midfield and a very strong Goalkeeper. Great season, can’t wait to see what you do next season! 10 Elexis Elexis once again is another player new to the larger field, so as the season went Mason on her confidence with the new team and larger field grew. She clearly is a utility player who can play in the middle of the field where she can burn her endless energy or can be a solid fullback. Elexis showed us what she can do when it comes to defence by showing some great defensive plays. Well done, Elexis! 11 Tahlia Tahlia started the season a little quiet but by the end of the season she was a Smithwick completely different player. Tahlia has found her position in the fullbacks and is the perfect sweeper or centre fullback. She is the ultimate organiser in the backs and is a force to be reckoned with. Her goalkeeping was outstanding and appears to be keen to follow in the footsteps of her Dad. Awesome season! 12 Mackenzie Mackenzie is the little doer! The youngest player in the team but a heart like Phar Barton Lap, she gave her best every single game. Mackenzie fitted in so well in the fullbacks and we were so proud of how she defended and grew in the fullback position. She has absorbed all the things we have tried to instil in the girls by the way of skills and understanding formation of the game. What a great season, well done, Mackenzie!

Grade 12 Division 1 Coach: Shannon Solomon Manager: Andrew Lee Players’ Player: Harry Gourlay Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 14 2 10 2 16 44 The highlights of the season were: • Proud of the boys, it was a difficult year, lots of changes and disruptions. But year after year, again the comradery and sportsmanship between the boys was great to watch. A pleasure to coach and manage. I’m sure the boys are looking forward to playing together next year and improving on their performance and positional play when we are back at our home ground. See you at training on the hallowed turf early next year. • Thanks to all the parents for helping out during the year, and a BIG thanks to the Committee for all their work to get the games going in 2020.

41

The Team Name Commentary 1 Marco Battiato Marco new to the team, solid in defence, took control of the back line, worked well with his defensive team mates. Excellent at set plays and reading the game. Just keep on improving and working hard at training. 2 Sam Bayley Another good year in the back line, absolute pleasure to have as part of the team, you need a Sam in your defensive line-up. No fear. 3 Zayn El Badawi Zayn was new to the side proving to be a dangerous attacker, can score from anywhere, quick to turn, great at reading the play and setting up his team mates. A great performance this year, look out next year. 4 Harry Gourlay 2020 Players Player. Harry improving year on year, always competing for the ball, and has a great ability to read the game. Harry can change a game with his presence on the field, a great asset in any team. 5 James Hayes James shared the Goalkeeping duties this year making some huge saves, and pulling off some excellent diving moments and when on the field enjoyed the middle of the park, getting involved in the play. 6 Lachlan Lee Lachlan is a strong defender always making it difficult for the opposing team, his speed across the park to cover in defence was excellent and continually improving each year. Keep up the good work and train hard. 7 Jens Lucas Jens is another core player, at every game, every training run, an excellent mid-fielder that never stops, growing with confidence each year and his time and positional play is showing progress. Another strong performance. 8 Sebastian Seb loves playing up front, taking the opponent on and getting into position. Manno Had a frustrating year with a few injuries and training conflicts. Keep on improving and remain positive. 9 Aiden Miller Aiden is always strong in defence and an all-round sportsman. Unfortunately he got injured during the year, and we was missed his natural left side play. Looking forward to next year and working with the boys in defensive play. A natural half/defender, bring on next year! 10 Nikolas Nickolas had a good year showing versatility by playing multiple positions. Petkovic His love of the game comes out on the field always putting in a great effort often playing a support role to both the backs and forwards. 11 Alex Solomon Alex had a solid year. His runs down the line and his kicking game showed his skill and determination making countless opportunities for his team mates as well as putting them in the back of the net. Well played, Alex. 12 Robbie Talevski Support play and interaction with a new team is excellent, always had a smile on his face when playing, a solid player always competing for the ball, supporting his team mates and closing down the opponent, never stopped competing for the ball. Looking forward to next year 13 Dylan Dylan, each year just keeps getting better and better, great to watch Dylan Thompson play, another player that never gives up, his technique and ball skills improving year on year, also our part-time goal keeper, took some great saves this year. Well done. 14 Ali Zidan Ali you are always two steps ahead of the game and one of the best readers of the play in the team. Technical skills and fitness will bring you to the top of your game.

Grade 12 Division 2 Coach: Terence Whitfield Manager: Paul Bayley Players‘ Player: Jordan Spagnolo Season Summary: 3rd Place, Semi Finalists Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals Goal Points For Against Diff 14 8 3 3 53 38 +15 27 Report: 2020 was our first competitive season. The boys should be proud of what they achieved. Our success can be boiled down to one thing – attitude. It started at the end of the first round in last place. We had the largest loss in the competition (6-1) having been out played in almost every way possible. That same team would beat us 7-0 the next time we played them and would be the team we would face off in our semi-final. The first half of the season had some easy wins against teams that fought amongst themselves and some hard losses. Our focus was on competing, rather than winning. We learnt that making mistakes is part of the game and just a moment in the game, not the result. Our first night game was the turning point for the team. We stopped worrying about who scored the goals and focussed on how many goals the team scored, we defended every attack on our goals like the score was nil all with 5 minutes to go. The second half of the season saw a 60% drop in the goals scored against us and we didn’t lose a game.

43

We only had 12 players in the team, so when we had 1 out, we were fortunate enough to have Nate from the U11s fill in. He didn’t just fill in; he held his own and played an important role every time he took the field. As is always the case in soccer, not every decision goes your way. In round 12, five minutes before kick-off, Olivier broke his arm warming up. This rattled the team at first, but the boys chose to dedicate the game to Olivier and came back from 1-0 down to draw the game with minutes to spare. We finished the season in 3rd place, 9 points clear of 4th. A massive improvement from where we began the season in last place. We had to play Milperra in the semi-final, having lost to them convincingly both times and this time would be without a reserve as neither Olivier nor Nate were deemed eligible to play. The boys’ competitive spirit kicked in and they played the best game they played all year. Despite having no reserves, we came from 2-1 down at half time to score the only goal in the second half to reach full time at 2 all. Everyone was so amazed at how well the boys had played, at that moment we had won, regardless of the result. Milperra were in shock as the team they turned up to play against looked the same but had a very different attitude and took them by surprise. Extra time was 20 minutes too long for the boys and Milperra scored, including a penalty to win the game. What we learned from this year was that skills are important, but without the right attitude, they count for nothing. Teams that win are also teams that lose, but teams that compete always succeed regardless of the result. We may not have been dealt the best set of cards this year, but there is no doubt that we gave it everything we had and that is something the whole team should be proud of. We would like to thank all the parents for their support throughout this year. We look forward to doing it all again in 2021 and going at least 1 better! Thanks, Paul The Team Name Commentary 1 Lukas Bayley Lukas finished the season with his best performance all season taking out the man of the match for his impressive defence preventing numerous goal scoring opportunities from the other team. To be unanimously nominated for that award when the whole team plays its best is a testament to his focus and determination. 2 Anthony Anthony was new to the team this year yet fitted into the team well. As the Bellach season progressed, he learned to rely on others in the team more and set up several impressive goals and scored a few himself. He developed a strong competitive streak that made his presence felt by the other teams. 3 Oscar Quote of the year went to Oscar - “What if it doesn’t work out”. Well mate, Bongailas we all agreed that this season it worked out. Oscar was one of our resident Goal keepers saving 71 shots at goal and only letting in 23. No one celebrates scoring a goal like Oscar – check out the footage, when Oscar scores the world knows! 4 Heath Ebbs Heath always gives his best and leaves nothing in the tank. His defence against the strikers left them with few options in round 11 and in the semi- final they had to change their attack as they just couldn’t get through on the left. As our alternate goalkeeper for the second half, Heath made it as difficult as possible for the other team and rarely did they get past him. 5 Oliver Olly is the epitome of a team player, always putting the team first. If Ghantous someone was in a better position to score, he passed to them rather than taking the shot himself. At the back he used his height and speed to shut down the attack. When anyone needed support, he did everything he could to be there. He loves to compete and more importantly loves being a part of the team.

44

6 Keanu Keanu took his game to the next level this year. The highlight was in the Goncalves wind against Padstow United. He perfected passing the ball to the forwards with the wind behind him, something even professionals struggle to do. His support of his team mates on the field again went up a notch making sure other teams didn’t get under our skin even swapping positions to make sure we performed at our best. 7 Patrick Kemp Patrick scored a goal this season off a scorpion kick destined for the sideline. This was one of several successful shots he took this year and a great example of the competitive attitude he developed this season. He learnt to play to his strengths and use his team mates rather than trying to do it all himself. The result was more game time in the attacking half. 8 Olivier Khoury Olivier was our leading goal scorer, improving his strike rate threefold this season when he broke his arm five minutes before kick-off, 3 weeks out from the semi-finals. In true sportsmanship, he came to every game, as frustrating as it must have been not being able to get out there and play, to support the boys. 9 Drew Kurtz Drew was one of our other resident keepers again this year. The highlight was against the Strikers where he was peppered constantly with shots on goal and saved a few high ones, popping them over the crossbar. Drew is tall, but no one thought he was that tall. His highlight on the field was in the semi-final where he passed a long, perfectly placed ball to the feet of our left wing setting up a great goal. 10 Cameron Cameron’s confidence improved again this year. He learnt to read the play Lynch well enough to get into position early enough to foil the attacking team’s plans. Cam’s passing stepped up a notch this year getting the ball to other team mates faster and more effectively. He always puts in his best effort and enjoys being part of the team. 11 Jordan Jordan confidence was at an all-time high this year. He scored the goal of Spagnolo the season against Bass Hill. The defence tried everything, but he managed to break away, gain his balance and get it past the keeper to score. 12 Zachary Taylor Zac settled into his position in the midfield this season. He ‘accidently’ scored a goal from outside the box arguing he was trying to pass it to the centre forward, but it “just went in”. His skills improved again this year. Zac would control the ball, beat numerous players to create the gap before passing to teammates. As the season progressed, so too did his competitiveness, proving to himself just what he is capable of. 12a Nate Robertson Nate may have in BDAFA’s eyes just been a fill in, but he was certainly part of the team. His versatility allowed us to put him in any position which is important when you are replacing different players each week. He has no fear taking on players twice his size and running rings around them. We were thrilled to have him as part of the team.

Grade 13 Division 1A Coach: Matthew Daprossi Manager: Anthony Martin Players’ Player: Riley Marshall Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 14 10 3 1 21 14 Report: My first season coaching these boys was very enjoyable. The boys showed skill above their age and were a major threat to the competition. The boys finished the year equal 1st place only missing out on the minor premiership for and against and were unlucky losers in extra time in our Semi-final. Despite the disappointing ending, I was extremely proud of how the season went and know that they can go even further and regain their title from the previous year. Matt

The highlights of the season were: • Come from behind victory against . • 1-0 victory over Strikers (the eventual premiers). • Coming second only on For & Against. • Top 2 for the 2nd season in a row!

The Team Name Commentary 1 Alessio Madau Alessio was a good addition to the team, was a great option at either left back or left Mid. Was always willing to go into challenges hard. 2 Andrew Raad Great Keeper made some amazing game winning saves in numerous games. 3 Bradley Simler Handy right back, very reliable! 4 Daniel Yazbeck Daniel had a good year mainly playing left mid. Was a good addition to the attack. 5 Davyd David played mainly striker all year for the first time. Bilokonenko His speed and effort made him a threat all year round. 6 Dean Papas Strong centre back, always willing to go in hard and made the right choices most times. 7 Dylan Mckenzie New to the team and playing up a grade but was more than capable and fit in very well. His effort was 100% and his decision making on the ball was exceptional. Extremely strong year. 8 Jack Walker Team captain. Jack took on more of a role in the midfield. And started to really gel with his other midfielders and strikers near the end of the season. 9 Jayden Maxwell Small but quick, with great foot work made Jayden a threat every time he had the ball 10 Kai Allie Kai played fullback mainly all year, you knew you could always depend on him to break down an attack. 11 Kristian Played a combination of left mid and left back. Played his position well and Lukasiewicz rarely caught out of position. 12 Liam Martin Stepped into centre mid this year. Took a few weeks to get going, but once he got the hang of it was very strong. 13 Luca Dore Strong and quick, when he got more involved he was impossible to handle.

46

14 Riley Marshall Another new addition to the team and fitted in extremely well. Played 3 different positions and took to all of them really well. Never gives up.

Grade 13 Division 1B Coach: Riki Cannon Manager: Richard Shun Wah Players’ Player: Josh Murray Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals Goal Points For Against Diff 14 8 4 2 26 13 +13 26 Semi Final V Panania A Won 1-0 Grand Final V Bankstown Sports Strikers Lost 0-3 Report: The 2020 season eventually got underway amid the Covid-19 issues and was a welcome relief to the lockdown for so many weeks that prevented any training or gatherings like normal. In the end we were grateful that we could get a team and play so many rounds. So, thank you Bob and the committee for all their hard work and dedication to get the club and this season underway. With a new coach and four new team members, it was an adventure to learn and grow as a team throughout the season and build on the skills we learned from previous years. Unfortunately, we lost the grand final, but we experienced playing on the artificial grass at Jensen and played at other grounds for the better half of the season and look forward to getting back to Kelso next year! Our team should be proud of their achievements, reaching their third grand final in a row. I am confident that a grand final win is just around the corner. Despite all the Covid-19 issues during the year, we all had a good time at training and on match day with some very close and exciting games being played. It has been an enjoyable but challenging season, but we hope that the new team members had a good time and made some new friends. Thank you to all the parents for attending the games and getting the boys to training. The Team Name Commentary # 4 / # 1– Joshua Shun Wah Josh was our preferred keeper again this season and saved quite a few goals which helped keep the team in the game. His goal kicking has improved, and general positioning was also good on many other occasions. Josh always put his body on the line in defence as a goalkeeper and even though we lost the grand final, there were many positive comments about his goal keeping abilities. When not in goals, Josh was a potent left or right back and spoiled many attacking runs while setting some up for the team.

47

# 7 – Logan Weir Logan had the great ability to come from nowhere and tackle the opposition. He would always be in the thick of the action and even managed to score a goal or two from some great support play. He has definitely grown as a player and will get even better in years to come.

# 8 – Yousef Riad One of the two brothers and new additions to the team this year. With his brother Kareem, they both troubled the opposition as left and right strikers and were well suited to our team. Yousef was also keen to improve on his skills and will get even better next season.

# 9 – Jack Ashburner They call him the “ice-man” as he is so cool under pressure! Worked hard all season including many short runs in the mid-field to create the opportunities for our strikers. His corner kicking game really improved from the past season. Another solid year for Jack.

# 10 – Jeremy Cannon Jeremy played striker and goalkeeper this season, creating many scoring opportunities while upfront and making a lot of saves during his stints as GK. He looked dangerous with the ball and often connected from the corner kicks to score. He worked well with Kareem and Yousef upfront and was very unlucky not to score more goals.

# 14 – Jake Vesanen This was Jake’s first season with the team and was thrown in the deep end with our more established team members, so it was a big learning curve. Jake tried hard and was a good team player, and this was evident by being there at every training session and showing his commitment. Well done Jake for having a go and improving every time you took the field!

48

# 20 – Joshua Murray Josh was one of the strongest players all season and kept peppering the opposition goals. “Muzzer” was potent in attack and solid in defence and his corner kicking created lots of scoring opportunities. Josh has been instrumental in scoring or setting up goals in general play. As with last year, he stepped up to fill in for the higher grades towards the end of the season and did not disappoint by scoring two goals.

# 23 – Cameron Poole Cameron played well during the season and was especially potent on the wing and cutting off the oppositions mid field. Size did not matter to Cameron as he often came up against much larger opponents. Again, another player who improved and will get even stronger next year.

# 26 – Blake Sullivan One of the work horses of our team and our little pocket rocket. There is not much of him but he certainly “packs a punch” on the field. No wonder his nickname is “pistons” as he runs all over the park! He moves the ball well and is able to beat most players twice his height.

# 28 – Taishi Reynolds Taishi cemented his position as centre back, shutting down the opposition’s strikers. He often took goal kicks and corners and can never be underestimated with his ball skills. He is a definite play maker in our back three defensive line and has been a great team player.

# 29 – Daniel Merheb Daniel is an extremely versatile player whether it is controlling the game from the back as sweeper or his attacking runs through the middle of the ground when playing in the mid-field. Daniel was always threatening to score from long range and can clear the ball with ease. In full flight, Daniel is like “poetry in motion” when he is playing!

49

# 31 – Dylan Petrovski Dylan was solid in the backs and again showed how he can clear the ball from our own line or spoil an attacking run by the opposition. He was instrumental in some very good tackles and support play when we were attacking from our own half. His game has come a long way as he is a very keen learner and will improve yet again with every opportunity.

# 35 – Joshua Peters Josh “P”, as he is affectionately known, was a great new addition to the squad and he really settled in well and contributed to the team, especially in defence. He was a keen learner and worked hard at training to improve his game each week. Josh reads the game well and it was great to have him in the team.

# 61 – Kareem Riad Kareem was one of our strikers and delivered on many occasions. He worked well with the mid-field, creating many scoring opportunities. Kareem added some fire power upfront and will only continue to improve going forward with more experience. We saw that there were periods during the season where he was getting into the rhythm and judging the balls coming through and other times he had to work hard for the ball. He scored some great goals and looked good moving the ball around.

Riki Cannon – Coach In his maiden season as the Panania U13 (1) coach, Riki did remarkedly well given the circumstances we all faced. With a change of management and new players, Riki guided the team through to the semi-finals and reached his first grand final. To get to the final we played out a hard fought win 1 -0 (extra time) over our Panania A side, a team whom we have not beaten in the last two years. The grand final was played out against the eventual winners, Bankstown Sports Strikers at . While this was the team’s third consecutive grand final appearance, we can all hold our heads up high as we gave it a really good shot and played some really good teams this year. It won’t be the last grand final appearance for the team, providing the team stay together and build on the previous year’s successes. If this happens, with hard work and determination, there will be a grand final win for these boys!!

Grade 13 Division 2A Coach: Gavin Johnson Assistant: Wayne Johnson Manager: Jane Mouk Assistant: Kim McMahon Players’ Player: Aitor Season Summary: Played Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 14 8 2 2 38 15

The highlights of the season were: • Six wins in a row to start the season and no worries about picking up the bonus McDonalds trip for three wins in a row. • As a team we always controlled our games with strong positional play, excellent team work, precision passing and support up and down the field. However we struggled to find the back of the net as much as we deserved. We had more shots on goal than every team we played (five to one) which was exciting, frustrating and bad for my grey hair count. • A difficult season that we will never see again, with a pinch point of three games in four days where we ended up with two losses, it could have spelt the end for us, but hard work and energy got us back up to finish with two hard fought wins. • At the end of the day we made it to the semi’s but missed that final spot by one game • Thank you for a wonderful season with lots of fun, laughs and memorable moments and let’s go all the way next year! The Team Name Commentary 1 Zach Johnson A great season with a focus on the 1%. His best season since taking the gloves with some of the best one on one saves, which kept us on a winning run. We need to work on growing to get to the high balls. 2 Daniel The rock at the back – Daniel has developed his game this year and reads McMahon the play extremely well, running the ball gave us some real punch out of the back third. Keep practicing your long ball. 3 Robert One of the most consistent players in the team (always late!). With a massive Salerno motor and a tackling technique to die for. Rob’s control of the middle of the field was a big part of our best season to date. Time to dial up the contact! 4 Jack McLean First to training and the games, Jack’s dedication to the game is second it none. We are still trying to bring out the tiger! 5 Daniel Mouk So happy that Daniel came back to the team after an injury plagued start to the season. Delivering the high level of energy and enthusiasm we have come to expect. You are stronger than you know. 6 Peter Drivas Plenty of training and hard work showed everyone just what you can do on the pitch. Keep up the strong work ethic and the results will come. 7 Ruby A pleasure to see this young lady develop into a well-rounded player. Always Crowther smiling and loves every minute at training or game day. Your love of the game shows through in everything you do and has shown the boys how to get it done. 8 Bodhi Glasby I see management in your future. A pleasure to coach. Bodhi is always listening, watching and putting the pieces together. A Slow start to the season with a broken arm didn’t stop him from coming to every game and soaking up the game. And when he got back onto the pitch showed how much he is worth to the team. Looking forward to a full season next year to work on that goal scoring strike.

51

9 Alessandro Confidence at the back is a coach’s dream and Alex brings that in spades. Calligaro Developing into a complete defensive player, bringing speed, control and support. A very solid year and I look forward to the next phase of your development. 10 Mikayla A full-time addition to the team this year and didn’t disappoint. The smallest Calligaro and fiercest player on the park. Mikayla leaves it all on the field and fights way above her weight. Also, the youngest by a good way, foot skills and ball control will help to leave the boys in your dust. 11 Daniel Bian Another Daniel is just what we needed in the team! Always talking and bringing a wonderful spirt to the team. A great set up player and has also shown a glimmer of his ability to score goals when he puts in the effort. Let work on increasing your influence on the game by extending your time on the field. 12 Aitor von Our prayers for a goal scorer were answered with A joining the team, but Herborn Aitor also brought so much more than just goals. Personality, drive, determination and a sense of team made him a readymade fit for the team. A great player to coach, always asking questions and pushing himself to improve. Being more selective with your run will help your overall game. 13 Mitchell Mitch is a great team player, doing whatever is asked of him and giving Johnson 110%. Mitch played in lots of different positions across the year and took his overall game to a new level. But playing up front is the dream, if you focus on striking the ball you will see that come true.

Grade 13 Division 2B Coach: Dave McFadden Players’ Player: Max Tarrant The Team Adrian Carbone Aleisha Hutchinson Alex Elhelou Angad Singh Duy Pham Harrison Dallas Hieu Dinh Jack Miller Lucas Sewell Max Tarrant Natalya Smith Nicholas Larsen William Tarrant Zachary Beddoe Report: Well 2020 was a year to remember. Again, our team this year was a combination of players from various teams last year. After no division 3 competition was available, we were graded into division 2. Training started with great gusto before the dreaded COVID hit us all and everything went on hold. After our time off the field, the team came back and the season got under way. Every week saw 14 players turn up to training and games with nothing but a positive outlook. Not only did everyone give 100% every week, there was a smile on everyone’s face, and mateship and fun were the winners every week. Our Players Player this year was Max Tarrant. Max unselfishly put his hand up to do one half as goalkeeper each week to share the role with our long term keeper Zach. Max was a natural , with his long limbs regularly stretched out to stop the inevitable onslaught of shots. It was an absolute pleasure to coach this great group of young men and woman this year. Grade 13 Ladies Coach: Shayne Puckeridge Manager: Jeff Oehlman Players’ Player: Brooke Petersen Season Summary: Played Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 14 5 8 1 24 35 The highlights of the season were: • New training field where we didn’t have to share with anyone. • Full season with our new female playing strip. • Playing for each other as part of a team. The Team Name Commentary 18 Matilda Berry A new year & a more mature Tilly. Somewhere along the way you started losing your dependence to not be scared of the ball & started making decisive runs out wide preferable on the same side your father was standing on. An off season of running on your toes, along with touches will help you immensely. 15 Juliette Gentle natured young lady to coach. Can make some decisive runs only to Wedgewood softly touch the ball. I would like you to picture the opposition as Brooke Petersen because you kick each other only like friends can. 55 Summer My hair line is starting to become similar to your fathers. When I ask you to Hession play up front, you somehow play in the middle. When you ask to play in the middle, you play upfront. Surely football can have a position called ‘rover’. 42 Brianna Lee Brianna’s is notably a confidence player. When she doesn’t have a care in the world, Brianna plays her best. Your looks on the field when someone challenges you has to be translated into your aggression on the field. Work on your touches in the off season. 72 Amelia Same as every year. Gives me 100% every game. Hates to lose. Hates to let Oehlman any of her team mates down. When Amelia gives me or the opposition the look you have to second guess yourself. 73 Anneka This year was no different to any other year. Gives me 100% every game but Oehlman this year you can notice she is thinking more in the game, listening to instructions and adhering to them. 50 Chloe You have to work on your fitness. Plays in the engine room and can control Puckeridge the game but the lack of match fitness allows you to chase, tackle & dominate, but you could see this year your attacking game suffered. 13 Makayla My captain for a reason. What people take for her laid-back attitude is her ice Ralevski cold demeanour when the game gets tense or we are under pressure, Makayla can make the big plays. 11 Ezara Smith A year littered with injuries for Ezara. Stick with it Ezara, it couldn’t get worse than this year. Work on your fitness and touches in the off season. 57 Princess Princess started the year more worried what or who the opposition were but Subedi as the season grew she stopped worrying about the opposition and worried about her own game. This is where Princess played her best football. 49 Brooke I pressed all the right buttons for Brooke to take her aggression out on the Petersen field this year. This year Brooke took her aggression in defence & mixed it with dribbling and passing in attack which was fantastic to watch. She loves a verbal stoush. Great year, Brooke.

53

56 Ruby Carter This was Ruby’s first year. She was there when we needed her at the start of the year & stuck it out to the end. Ruby was at every training session & at every game. With a year under your belt Ruby, work on your ability to attack the ball. 41 Chelsea Wow, this girl has speed to burn. I’m guessing it may have been her first year Fosse but she has endless energy to burn. Started learning the rules by the end of the year. Work on your touches in the off season. 61 Ellie Cantrill Ellie was a late inclusion into the team close to half way through the competition. Ellie has played at a higher level and you can tell by the way she touches the ball. A good pre-season will work well on where Ellie will suit best within the team environment. 12 Chelsea I was hesitant to take a dancer on at the start of the season but Chelsea Hannaoui made me eat my own words. Very strong in defence and never took a backward step. If there was an award for rookie of the season, then Chelsea would have won it. Work on your touches in the off season. Thank you to all the parents for continually bringing the girls to training and support every week on game day. This year was a challenging year with the interruption of Covid and the closure of Kelso for an upgrade of the fields. As a team we challenged the better teams in the competition along with missing out on goal difference on the similar skilled teams. We lacked that killer edge that we have had in years gone past. All I wanted is what I saw after the last game of the year. A picture tells a thousand words.

Report 1: Starting the season with 7 new players out of 15, was never going to be easy. As the team was starting to gel and get fit, the corona virus hit and all was lost. Just when the season looked lost, it quickly changed and it was all systems go again with many added obstacles. With an understandable shaky start to the competition, the team started finding their feet and had some really good games. The guys are always encouraged to play attractive possession style football and it is always great to see it pay off on the field. We finished mid table with mixed results, not the best way to finish the season. However, we still went into a semi- final against a red, hot Rovers. The team stood tall and went toe to toe and definitely held their own against the minor premiers. The best part of this crazy COVID year was watching this great group of young men, grow as players and learn. It’s always a pleasure spending time with a great group of young men, manager and coach. Report 2: Disrupted by COVID our season got off to a slow start as the boys found it difficult to be cohesive. As the season continued the team strung together some great performances, culminating in our first ever draw against reigning undefeated champions, Revesby Rovers. The result installed confidence in our boys, however they fell short losing to the predictable champions (Rovers). A great effort by the team despite the obstacles faced during the season. Well done! Grade 14 Division 2 Coach: Daniel Tait and Marty Gallagher Manager: Melanie Lucas Players’ Player: Andy O’Neill – for game day effort and consistency. Season Summary: Played Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 16 7 6 3 37 32 Report: It was a topsy-turvy season this year. Whilst we fielded a side every week, the team struggled with sickness, holidays, injuries to hamstrings, hips, and ankles. Those players who came through the season in one piece, gave their all each week. Most players returned from last year, but we also welcomed Tyler, Tim and Raphael. Dan returned as coach but also teamed up with Marty from All Age, bringing with him Premier League experience, new drills and a passion for the game. Having two coaches on the side-line was an eye-opening experience for some team members and spectators. Overall, the team played well together but unfortunately due a countback and an extra bye, we finished the year in 5th position. Being a team smaller in size than most of our competitors, put us at a bit of a disadvantage throughout the season. However, the team improved on last year. Position play was key this year with the team training to understand where all players were on the field. Whilst this took a few games for players to settle into new positions and new team-mates, by the end of the season, they were all working well together. Our defence line of Ashton, Raphael and Sean played the offside rule perfectly, with many of the opposition being called for offside. Our attack line of Ronin, Lucas, Josh and Adam were strong up front and were able to put away the sneaky goal. The centre field saw Andy, Brennan, Noah, Tim and Tyler linking passes each game. Goal-keeper Ethan was there for a diving save. Sean and Tyler held the position of sweeper, taking command on the field and arranging the play for most games. Fitness levels were a big issue with players sick and injured for multiple weeks. We do thank players from the U13’s who helped us out to field a team when they could – even backing up after their own games. It is much appreciated. Finally, a big well done to Sean and Lucas achieving their level 4 referees award and congratulations to Sean, who was selected by BDAFA as main referee for an Grade 12 Grand Final. Big things are coming your ways boys!! Let’s hope that 2021 is a better year, on and off the field. Dan, Marty and Mel The Team Name Commentary 1 Tyler Brown Centre/Centre Back: New to the team but having played with the boys at school, Tyler fitted in like a glove. His enormous right kick cleared the field many times and was missed in the back on the season due to injury. 2 Adam Callicetto Right Wing: Continued to play an attacking game and to become more assertive on field. Adam was consistent in attack and dependable on the right for a quick break or to back up his centre players. 3 Ashton Connolly Right Fullback: New to the team last year, Ashton showed confidence on field and was consistently encouraging the team on the field. He was able to clear the ball neatly and saved many a quick break from the opposition. 4 Noah Diab Centre Mid-Field: Second year of competitive soccer, Noah gave 100% at each game. Playing midfield, Noah is becoming a versatile player, popping into defence when needed and out into attack to back-up the centre players. Noah improved his game all season. 56

5 Sean Lucas Sweeper/Left Back/Left Mid: Sean quickly established command of the back line and was able to catch the opposition offside. For a change of pace, Sean alternated into midfield. Always encouraging to his teammates and happy to share their success when a goal was scored. 6 Raphael Malek Centre Back: New to the team, Raphael was the quiet achiever. Raphael showed skill with defence play and an ability to read the opposition when on the run. Raphael consistently gave his all each game. 7 Joshua McGregor Striker: With fast feet and his small-size, Josh confused the opposition but was able to make the fast break when needed. A hamstring injury put him on the sideline at the end of the season. Better luck for an injury free 2021. 8 Ethan Mosely Goalkeeper: Ethan showed excellent goal keeping skills. Many a goal was saved by a flying dive. Ethan was quick to read the play of a quick break and was there to send the ball down the other end of the field. 9 Andy O’Neill Centre Mid-Field: Andy was always quick to break the opposition defence and was able to clear the ball through the mid-field and onto attack with ease. Taking a massive hit at the end of the season, Andy gave it his all each week, allowing him to score. 10 Ronin Phillips Left Mid Field/Left Wing: Moving into an attacking position saw Ronin use his speed and ability to muddle the opposition and make the break. Ronin proved useful in clearing the ball and was always able to keep a clear head during the game. A couple of goals for the season. 11 Timothy Selim Mid-field: New to the team, Tim was quiet. Tim’s size deceived the opposition many times with his quickness in attack. Tim never gave up in a tackle. With a couple of close shots for goals during the year – close but not quite. 12 Lucas Smallwood Left Wing: Lucas played on the wing and in the midfield. He was quick to move and pass to a team-mate. He greatest improvement was to have confidence with his abilities and to back himself when needed. This was shown when given a penalty shot. 13 Brennan Mid-field/Goalkeeper: Thompson Brennan moved to mid-field and showed an ability to read the attacking play. Brennan showed no fear taking on the larger players. Brennan also stood in for goal-keeping duties, showing his versatility as a player. Best game – a hat trick mid season.

Grade 15 Division 2 Coach: Mark Roberts Assistant Coach: Eric Pardey Manager: Kim Pardey Players’ Player: Blake Pardey Manager’s Award: Kye Websdale - consistently giving his best & improving every week. Season Summary: Played Byes Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 18 2 2 12 2 27 114 Report: What a crazy season we have had this year, plenty of changes and stop-start interruptions made it quite a challenge to find our rhythm. A change in the grade of teams we were up against after the re-start was difficult to manage, but I am proud to say that our team were well up for the challenge and never let it deter or dishearten them from the task at hand. Every week we turned up and played our best with the spirit, enthusiasm and sportsmanship which has been part of our development over the previous years. Whilst most of the team came through from the 2019 season, we also had some new members join who were welcomed and fitted straight in. There were some astounding goals, great plays, fantastic saves and wonderful football played with enjoyment and enthusiasm throughout the season. The ups and downs of this season were met with a maturity beyond their years. As always I am very grateful to our manager Kim who keeps us all organised, and to our other coach Eric for being there to help me. And to the parents, relatives and family friends who get the players to the games on-time, cheer on the team, and help out when needed. Thanks for your support. In no particular order, below were the team of 2020 Panania Diggers Under 15B: Thomas Patterson, Logan Bessenyei, Ethan Portelli, Bella Smith, Bailey Julian, John Pizanis, Nick Jeretzky, Josh Fay, Adrian Le, Marco Cedres, Cameron Roberts, Brendan Allport, Tom Sullivan, Kye Websdale, Blake Pardey. Thank You All! Mark It was a very crazy season as Mark has said above, and I couldn’t be any prouder as a manager or parent. Under 15’s Team B you showed such resilience and sportsmanship right till the very end, with many a ref or by-stander commenting on this. Your love of the game shone through! A great big thanks to Mark for coaching again this year and to all the committee members of Panania Diggers Soccer Club for all your hard work and help during the season. Kim

The Team Andre Stojanovski Beckham Smith Desire Kistoo Emanuele Serra Ethan Terpos Garrick Tischler Hayden Whitney Ian Silva Jaber Ajaka Jorge Zafiropoulos Kosta Savvas Lachlan Williams Matthew Mcglynn Zach Bowmaker Zachary Gadsden Season Summary: As we all know a trying season for all , first with COVID then losing our home ground, there was mixed emotions at the start of the year with COVID and personally was hard to get motivated but we decided we would go ahead and give it a crack. We soon realised that we were in a 10 team comp and a very tough one at that with some VERY strong teams and one in particular that seemed to be unbeatable. We set ourselves a goal and that was to make the semis which we knew we could do and achieved this with 4 games to spare, finishing 4th in a very tight comp, Bass Hill running away 1st place but the next 3 teams on 37, 37 then us on 36 points- goal achieved and we were in the semis! The way the comp went it was 1st v 4th so yes bring on Bass Hill, although a fantastic team we believed we had worked them out and had a real chance in knocking them off. A very hot day at Kinch played into our hands as these boys don’t know the words ‘give in’ and will play to the final whistle in any conditions. What a game it was; we went up 1-0 only to be pegged back to 1-1 but with counter attacking football we moved ahead 3-1 with only a few minutes to go, Bass Hill pulled one back but not enough and we did the impossible and were through to the Grand Final! It didn’t get any easier coming up against our very much respected arch rivals in Bankstown Strikers who we have met in 3 out of the 4 last Grand Finals (and beating them on each occasion) so fair to say we had the wood on them. Jensen Oval was the setting on a perfect evening to play football, again it was a cracking game played in fantastic spirits with much respect shown by both teams, after a nail biting game we came out on top 3-2 to win yet another title. I have said it all before but truly this team is a special group of young men both on and off the field and deserved this title more than any other year. I have always been a fence-sitter when it comes to Players’ Player , as I find it very hard to single any individual out in a team like this, in saying that Matt McGylnn was ask to play stopper with Beckham out with an ACL and took the role on and had a fantastic season both in defence and attack, causing many teams a real headache when pushing forward on a trademark Matt McGylnn run. Also special mention to arguably the most consistent player in the past few years, Zac Bowmaker. Zac has become a very solid footballer, another great year Zac. But I must say it was the entire 15 boys that all played their part in making this premiership the most satisfying yet. I would like to thank all the parents, grandparents, siblings & partners for all your support during the year, a special thankyou to Steve and Guy who have helped me the past 6 years, to Kyle our resident fitness trainer of the boys and team Ground Marshall (just quietly was pretty happy he was next to me after the Semi-final against Bass Hill, enough said) , to Bill Stoj our photographer and huge supporter of the Boys, in summary I have been very lucky to have coached this team for the past 6 years and watched them become outstanding young men, this Premiership was just amazing and the boys saw my emotions in the team huddle after the game, just so bloody proud. I was filthy on being pipped in the last few minutes in last year’s Grand Final but we bounced back and THIS ONE was for you DAD (Denzil Smith). Thank you all Jay Smith

Grade 17/18 Division 1B Coach: Mark Houllis Manager: Mark Houllis Players’ Player: Ricardo Bolivar The highlights of the season were: • Making the grand final but sadly losing. • Playing together each week and all having a great time. • Being able to give the top teams within Division 1 some challenge. • The Team Name Commentary 1 Kade When Kade did rock up to play it was always an enjoyable experience to McWilliams be a part of and to watch making the rare occasion Kade played a special one. 2 Ali Sahebi Hagh Ali joining at the start of season, he played with many faces he had not seen before and was able to adapt and bond with all his teammates through the season. 3 Ricardo Bolivar The solid mid fielder always put 110 percent into every game and kept the spirits of the attack up every minute while on the field. 4 Noah Siddens Noah had played previously with our boys but playing up in age is no easy feat and he was able to adapt and be a strong asset to this team even after battling his injury. 5 Mitchell Small Mitch, the pace winger began the season upfront but slowly changed into the mid field and fitted in perfectly. He performed in every game especially after a big night. 6 Lachlan Benson Our goalkeeper, Lochie saved many goals this year and could not have ever imagined the scores after every game if it wasn’t him between the posts. 7 Max Simpson When not running his mouth, Simo is a valuable asset to this team and when letting the ball do the talking, the ball would find itself in the back of the net and miraculously often. 8 Blake Harris The quiet one of group, Blake played hard every game and no one would ever miss seeing his slide tackles in defence every game. 9 James At first sight James looks quiet but packs a punch especially vocally to the Sestanovic refs, but overall, James put in great effort in the defence every game. 10 James Poulos Our Captain James led the team by example in every game through his strong leadership and effort he brought to every game. 11 Ryan Brackley Ryan sat out due to injury in the middle of the season and was missed in the defence but when healthy always played a strong game. 12 Tainui Our stopper T always put fear into the opponents’ attack with strong hits McFadden and running straight at them and was a great starter in the team. 13 Perry Alexakis For his first season of soccer ever, Perry immediately let the game come to him and became a starting striker towards the end of the season. 14 Balin Lusted Balin was a great defender but somehow would not be able to hear teammates calling for the ball, but always played with a smile on his face and was a great defender regardless. 15 Marco Basara Marco was a great striker and scored goals sadly his season came to an end with a hamstring injury and he was greatly missed out there. 16 Mark Houllis Being manager and coach was a great learning experience and even though this wasn’t the most organised season in general, I hope the boys had a great season and had fun together as a group.

Report: After all the confusion about if the season will go ahead at all, and what the makeup of that season will be, it was finally decided on a ten team, 18 round comp and one grade. Moving up into the combined 17/18 competition the boys knew that the season was going to be a big challenge. Starting the season against the previous season’s finalist the boys got off to a good start but were eventually overcome by a more physical style of soccer and the extra twenty minutes of game time. This trend continued into round two and we had to wait until round three to get the first win of the season. The extra physicality of the games this season bought out the best, and sometimes the not so best, in the boys, but overall they adapted well. After sitting mid table for the majority of the season and having to deal with a few injuries, self- inflicted illnesses, and a suspension we came to the final round only to find out that the competition was being split and we were now playing semis in a Division 2 comp. The semi-final was against Panania D and resulted in a good win, although by the end of the game both teams were more interested in the Division 1 semi on the adjoining field. Grand Final day arrived and again we found ourselves playing Panania. Both games against the B’s were tough during the season so the boys were prepared. With the scores locked at 1-1 midway through the second half a well hit penalty put us up and we didn’t look back. Final score 3-1. Under 17/18 Div 2 Premiers and a second premiership in a row for the boys! A big thanks to Anthony and Ace for the time spent coaching the boys, and to Perry as our team marshall / medic. Also, a very big thanks to all the parents who continue to show up week after week even as the boys get older.

It was always going to be difficult with the team making the big step up from a 16/2 competition to a combined 17/18 competition. Playing against older players together with an increase in game time from 70 to 90 minutes was challenging but also a great opportunity to improve. There was some turnover in personnel from last season with 8 of last year's team remaining in Abs, Alex, Marcus, Anthony, Lachlan, Jack, Luke and Ben. They were joined by 10 new starters in Nick, Mitch, Cameron, Steven, Spiro, Johnno, Brodie, Logan, Ethan and Johnny. From the beginning of the season, it was clear that the team was going to have to work very hard for their points. Highlights included strong wins over North Bankstown and East Bankstown and a draw with the Panania 17/18C team which went on to win the 17/18 division 2 competition. The team also had an entertaining 3-6 loss to the eventual 17/18 division 1 premiers, the Panania 17/18A team. Another match that stood out was starting with 8 players against the minor premiers, Bass Hill, and managing to stay in the game for a very creditable 0-3 loss. The team is to be commended for the spirit in which they played the game. The players displayed good sportsmanship and were (mostly) respectful to the referees although there was the odd "sin bin" along the way. It can be difficult when a team is struggling to find a win, so it was encouraging to see the players continue to enjoy their football and work hard for each other all the way to the end of the season. Thanks to coach, Simon, and his inspirational half time speeches (once he had managed to get the players' attention). Thank you to all parents, grandparents, family members and friends who came along to support the team as best they could within the COVID guidelines. Cassandra Wedgwood (Manager)

The Team Name Commentary 1 Abdulla Albekaa Abdulla had another strong season and established himself as a key member of the defence. 2 Ethan Capes Ethan scored some excellent goals this year with his powerful boot, (11 goals) including 4 in one game against East Bankstown. Unfortunately, injury kept Ethan out of action mid-season, but he immediately bolstered the attack when he returned for the latter half of the season. 3 Mitchell Carroll One of our new starters, Mitch was extremely solid in the defensive (3 goals) line and regularly stopped attacks with great tackles and key interceptions. Mitch also used his aerial skills to score several goals from corners. Mitch is the Players' Player this year. 4 Steven Kallas Steven was a great addition to the team and worked tirelessly in (1 goal) midfield. A highlight for everyone was Steven's amazing volleyed goal during the 3-3 draw with Panania C. 5 Nick Lembos Nick was an important member of our midfield and scored several (5 goals) goals. Nick created many attacking opportunities with his creative play and accurate passes. Nick scored a cracking goal against the very strong Greenacre team. 6 Logan Marshall Logan was another new starter with the team and impressed with his skill on the ball and quality passing out of the midfield.

67

7 Anthony Metry Anthony once again impressed with his creative midfield play and his great sense of humour. 8 Johnno Patti Johnno slotted into the defensive line and did a great job of holding up the opposition attack and passing out of defence. 9 Brodie Romcke Brodie did amazingly well in his first season in goals. His shot stopping improved as the season went on and his huge kick-outs became an attacking weapon for the team. 10 Cameron Schultz Another new starter, Cameron was a terrific defender who could always be relied on. Cameron would make it very difficult for the opposition forwards to get past him and when, he won the ball, he made some great charges down the field. 11 Johnny Stavridis Johnny scored several classy goals this season before he left us mid- (3 goals) season to pursue an opportunity to play in the NPL with Fraser Park. 12 Alex Stengos After spending recent seasons in the forwards, Alex spent most of (1 goal) this season in defence where he did an excellent job. Alex did get to spend a bit of time in the forwards near the end of the season and showed that he hadn't lost his touch with a nice goal against Panania C. 13 Marcus Tsekenis Marcus did a great job this season playing both up front and in the (2 goals) midfield at various stages. Marcus scored a brace against North Bankstown which helped us to a well-earned victory against the team that beat us in the grand final last season. 14 Benjamin Wedgwood Ben had another strong season in the midfield where he took on more of a defensive role but was still able to win plenty of ball. Ben also had to deal with the curse of being the coach's son and was "volunteered" to be our goalkeeper before we signed up Brodie (much to Ben's relief). 15 Jack Wedgwood Once again, Jack did a huge amount of work in midfield and in defence and his never give up attitude inspired his teammates. Despite not being the tallest player on the field, Jack won plenty of aerial challenges this season which was a real area of improvement in Jack's game. 16 Luke Wedgwood Luke was Mr. Dependable playing the sweeper role again this season and ensured that the defence was always tight. Luke did a great job organising the defence and it was good to see the backs combine well to shut down high quality opposition forwards. 17 Lachlan Widdicombe Lachlan had another excellent season playing down the left side. Unfortunately, injury prevented Lachlan from playing the last few games but his contributions during the season were appreciated. 18 Spiro Zepidis Spiro proved to be a versatile addition to the team playing in the backs, midfield and forwards at various times. Spiro always worked hard wherever he played and showed some excellent skills when he had the ball.

All Age Ladies 2A Coach: Connor Ryan & Jim Carroll Manager: Amanda Pollock Players’ Player: Hayley Stone The highlights of the season were: • Making it through to Semi-Finals. • Some great new players in the squad. The highlights of the season were: • Season ending injuries to Felicity Albert, Jessica Cole and Charlie Pollock. The Team Alicia Kastrounis Amanda Pollock Bronwyn Torr Cassandra Thomson Charlie Pollock Claire Moynihan Erin Mcfadden Felicity Albert Gemma O'shea Georgia Mcfadden Hayley Stone Jamie Pollock Jessica Cole Jessie Kemp Lauren Smith Natasha Biteznik Nawal Abdi Sandra De Jesus Stefanie La Delfa Report: What a year it’s been. We started the year welcoming some great new players to the squad. Hayley, Jess, Nawal, Natasha, Steph, Claire and Gemma. Some came with great experience under their belts while for Steph and Gemma it was their first year of soccer. Their improvement throughout the season was amazing to watch. The effort that they put in each training session and match was impressive. The team really came together well and formed a tight knit group. Free beers on match day back at the Diggers Club really helped with team bonding and those that came to those impromptu get- togethers really enjoyed them. Lots of new friendships were made that will last well beyond the season. 5 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws throughout the regular season. 12 goals for and 16 against. The wins were SWEEEET! The losses were bitter (but taken in good spirit). Some of those 12 goals spectacular. We scored more than a couple with beautiful strikes from well outside the 18 metre box… Hayley, Sandra, Jamie & Jess I’m looking at you. Performances of note throughout the season, • Claire’s work in defence once the coach got it through his head that she is a formidable force in the backline. • Alicia’s work up the front, footwork and ball distribution “par excellence”. • Cass and Amanda’s great combination for a goal. Losing the match with 10 minutes to go we switched the backs and the forwards around and jagged a goal. Hayley was a well-deserved Players’ Player for 2020. The ultimate team player, talented and selfless. Always encouraging the less skilful players and giving her best. Well done, Hayley. Special thank you to Connor Ryan for all his efforts in coaching the squad. Jim C.

Report This team had another enjoyable season with great camaraderie between the players, coaches and supporters. From a football point of view, it was much tougher than last year, with a step-up in quality of teams we opposed from Division 3 to Division 2. Despite this we managed to draw twice with Hornets, who went on to lose in the grand final, and beat Strikers twice, who won the grand final. So the gap between us and the top 2 teams was not big. Consistency was a problem, and lack of ability to score goals. As a team we defended well. In fact the team only conceded 10 goals during the normal season, only Hornets conceded less. Most games were very close, with only a single goal difference in most of the games. The “goals for” tells a different story as the team struggled to link well between defence and attack. At times the team was very stretched from back to front making it difficult to sustain any attacking pressure. Occasionally we got the passing right and it looked good from the sidelines, but on other occasions long balls down the centre were common, easily dealt with by teams like Hornets. Something to work on next year! This year it was good to have a regular goalkeeper. Amira came back after a few years away. After a shaky start she was consistent during the year, often coming out of her goals to cut off goal threats. Our normal back four was Emma W, Kristie, Hannah and Ella, with Elyse often playing there too. Hannah was the organiser, a job she was good at and enjoys! Hannah and Kristie were commanding in the centre, unfortunately they carried minor injuries into the preliminary against Hornets which hindered their mobility. Jill played a few games early in the season, but unfortunately her season was cut short by a serious knee injury. We played 4-3-3 throughout the season with 3 very central midfielders, and the front 2 wide players shuttling between midfield and attack. Emma T, Bec and Rebekah were mainstays of the midfield covering heaps of ground. Jaicy, Annie, Jeanette, Rachel, Elly showing flexibility to be sometimes in midfield or sometimes in attack. Emma T moved to midfield from defence this year and showed an ability to pick a good pass, something the team needs to work on! Elly’s season too was cut short by injury sustained against St. Christopher’s. Jen operated upfront in the striking position, sometimes taken over by Jeanette. Taylor was mostly wide right. The wide left was shared around a bit, but Sophie and Mel often playing out there. Everyone worked hard showing lots of effort, next year we need to add a bit of guile. Sophie’s tackles were always strong, and she had the excitement of scoring her first ever goal! It was great to have a “mother” come on board and play her first ever season of soccer, well done, Mel. Great to have a mother/daughter combination on the field. Regardless of results the team had a strong bond, which will help improvement next year. Finally, a thanks to people who give their Sundays to come to watch and support the team, including Greg with his box of lollies.

Semi Final Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 1 0 1 0 0 1 The highlights of the season were: • Gaining new players Joe, Steve & Stuart. • Drinking beer every Saturday/ Sunday double header. • Larry refereeing which was funny. • Checking out the What’s App page and changing the name. Combined teams and then separated from round 11 onwards for 5 more rounds. The 2020 season finally got off the ground in early July and while we lost a close match in the semi final to the eventual winners Birrong, we had another great season and laughs on and off the field. We welcomed Steve, Stuart and Joe to the team this year and they made an impact right from the start. The new boys settled in really well and it was great to have them around!! These are some notable events that occurred during the season which are certain to contain some controversy and funny moments to relive!! There was also a lack of opportunities for our social committee. Our traditional day and Bathurst gatherings was cancelled, however there was a small party of players who ventured down South for the weekend in lieu of Bathurst to see the race on TV near the beach instead. By the time you read this we would have had our Canterbury race day outing and unfortunately due to Covid, we did not have our normal post-match functions or major events, however we made this a great season to remember and plenty of laughs. We probably should have put some of the things we said in a “pod cast”!! Thanks to all the players for a great season and thank you to all the families who came down to watch some old cranky men run around the park for a while on Saturday afternoon. Combined Competition: Round 1 v Spears at Neville Shakers and Laz decided to sit this game out and we lost 3-0 which was a pretty good effort considering what they did to other teams in the next few matches following our encounter. You still cannot get a sanger on a roll at Neville!! Round 2 v Milperra Lions at Kelso Following our disappointing loss the week before, we played really well in this game and staved off a fast finishing Lions team to draw nil all which was a great effort in the second round against last year’s O35 Div 2 premiership winning team. Round 4 v St Christopher’s B at Kelso By far our highest winning score of the season with a 9-0 romp over our rivals St Chrissies and our easiest St Christopher’s team for the season. It could well have been a lot more except for the wayward goal shooting and impatience to have a shot. Nevertheless, this match gave us confidence for the next few matches! Round 5 v Panania B at Kelso I think we took this match far too easy and we almost lost it but scrapped home with a sloppy 1-0 win. We could not back up our previous week’s goal scoring efforts. Albeit, the B team played really well so had to give them credit for their performance. Round 6 v Bankstown Sports Stars at Kelso Plenty of action in this match in a game that we should have won easily but lost 2-1. We saw Terence’s maiden goal for Panania, Jeremy’s own goal, and will later prove to be a repeat in another match. Jamie’s header attempt and landing flat on his face and nowhere near the ball, it was quite hilarious. He thought nobody saw it but he was wrong…...deadly wrong!! Somebody pushed Poh’s button the wrong way and he snapped by taking a player out inside the box. Luckily, we had an unofficial ref who, either did not see it or felt sorry for Poh, but the Stars player went down like a sack of potatoes and screamed and carried on like a pork chop. So, what did Poh say? He said “get the fu*#....up!! Round 7 v Padstow A – A night match at Playford Park, we never play well under lights!! The match was highlighted by Stuart’s two own goals from deflections. Larry keeper in second half, and we were down 5 nil at the break and went on to lose 11-0, our heaviest defeat by far during the season. Their goalkeeper was never troubled.

72

Round 9 v St Christopher’s C at Marco Score 2-2 but we played so bad that we should have lost. Larry was goalkeeper and tried to head the ball with a hat on!! No Dave, Jeremy, Jamie, Danny in this match. Who schedules a double header for Over 35’s?? Round 10 v St Christopher’s A (First match of the double header) We went into this match with no Marto Jamie or Tony or Dave and lost 4-0 after keeping them scoreless in the first half. We eventually ran out of puff but was a good effort against this team. At least we didn’t need to put in a report on some of the players like last year’s effort!! Round 11 v Workers @ Marco (Second match of the double header) A pretty good effort after backing up from Saturday however we lost 2- 0. Laz drinking red powerade and could not back up to play the second match, as he was in no shape to take the field that day! No Laz, no Jeremy, Tony, Rubin, or Dave in this match so our bench was depleted. This was the same day we saw Birrong and Bankstown Sports Strikers play, or did they? Some pretty non- standard and obvious “tanking” going on here from what we saw on the sidelines!!

Division 2 competition: Round 1 v Birrong @ Birrong: Drew 0-0 Round 2 v St Christopher’s C @ Marco: Lost 1-0 Round 3 v Panania B @ Kinch: Won 5-0 Round 4 v St Christopher’s B @ Playford: Won 6-1 Round 5 v Bankstown Sports Strikers @ Crest: Won 8 - 0 The second half of the competition fared a little better however it did not start according the plan, with a nil all draw at Birrong. If we thought that was bad, we played the Saint’s C team and would have drawn if it were not for a momentary lapse of concentration and we headed back to the sheds 1 nil down. With our backs to the wall, there was plenty of beers to be drunk, but we had to earn the right to have a beer after the match, so we duly went ahead and were clinical in the next three games. We went into the semi finals knowing we were a good chance to win following the latest form guide from previous matches, but it did not appear to be our best game.

The Team Name and Commentary # 30 Dave Costin -“Mr Utility”: midfield/fullback/ Forward Solid again this year and while he didn’t play all the time, he gave 100% and ran around the field all day!

# 57 Jamie Wahab - “Mr Tottenham” or “The Principal”: Centre back Now this guys pretty soft…. Follows a junior EPL team and goes around the school waving his stick, and yelling out with an English accent. So how does he go on the soccer field? We think he takes lessons from Marty as he didn’t even get close to a ball and fell flat on his face. # 31 Jeremy Dakis - "Bite Size Biscuits”: Sweeper How do you score when you are sweeper? You play tunnel ball…… the problem is that it’s not in the opposition net, just our own!! In a forgetful match where we toiled hard all game, we were denied a win or at least a draw against St Chrissies

73

# Larry Brooks - “The Saint” & Captain: Sweeper Larry was adamant that he was not going to travel to Neville Reserve or play and, reiterated this on several occasions. Last season he travelled across the border to play the “mis guided humans” and twice he played them! This season, he and Shakers sat out the first match and we lost 3-0. Solid in defence again this year and potent in attack. Sucks at goal keeping and was unlucky to miss the last few matches due to injury. Larry’s quote on Aurellian during the Bankstown Striker’s match, “ gee Zizou has a nice slot”! # 61 Ian Sinclair -“The Big Canadian”: Mid field/Striker The Big Man was there and sometimes not. He threatened to score many goals but landed only a few crackers this season. I would say that the rowing builds up the wrong muscle group so there is too much weight in the legs to kick the ball. Recommend that he eases off on the rowing machine!! # 6 Simon Wedgewood – “Wedgie”, “ Mr Shark Island”: Midfield/fullback “Mr consistency” as always, and never gave up when we were down. An own goal unfortunately added to the opposition score and couldn’t make up for it. Simon was an absolute train wreck at the Newtown day, and we have never seen him out of control like this. Just as well Danny W was well behaved!! We are still waiting for the “Shark Island” keg to turn up!! # 29 Steve Wise – “Wizey”: Forward/mid field/ fullback Wisey scored his first goal in Panania colours in the 6- 1 defeat of St Chrissies B at Playford. Fitting that he scored here being his home ground for many years previously! He was solid in defence and he was just as potent in attack and gave 110%. # 11 Aurelien Farthouat - “Zizou”: “Frenchie”: Midfield The “French Connection”, rarely failed to disappoint and provided some much- needed spark and control in the mid-field. Fantastic to watch and performed strongly each week in front of his fans! Scored a great goal against Padstow amongst many others. Wears his heart on his sleeve and puts in week after week. # 9 Richard Shun Wah - “Poh”: Fullback Put in many defence plays and occasionally pushed up to set up goal scoring opportunities. Worked well with Stuart and Wisey when scrambling in defence.

# 10 Anthony Martin -“Marto”- Midfield The workhorse of the left mid position, and set up plenty of goals. Marto helped gain yardage through his throw-ins and was virtually unbeatable when taking the ball up the left flank. Unlucky not to score more goals and set up more.

74

# 16 Stuart Batman – “Stewie”, Midfield/ Fullback Another one of our new team members and a great asset to have. Solid in defence and good attacking skills. We should know his game by now, but lucky he is on our side! Fantastic to have support at the back with Laz, Simon and Jezzer.

GK - # 1 Danny Cooper -“The Irishman” & the “Poker King”: Keeper Copped a hammering in goals this year but also gave plenty out to the opposition and took out a few players along the way, one being of note against Padstow, which was a classic. Well-orchestrated plan and could not have scripted it better. Saved plenty of goals including attempts from the penalty mark and was instrumental in keeping the “goals” out and the total under the century mark. Last year the “6 second rule” applied to Danny, this year, he made one too many steps and was pinged for holding the ball outside the 18 yard box! What will it be next year?? A game with Coops is always going to be an interesting and hilarious game at times with nobody willing to take him on by themselves. # 25 Joe Mercia – “ Neymar”, Forward & Left Mid In round 4 against St Chrissies B Joe went missing… Where is left mid? When left mid starts off left then gradually finds himself on right half, who is left mid?? Joe scored a goal but I think he was playing upfront and not left mid, but not exactly sure?? It was good follow up play by Joe in any case!

# Tony Mitrov - Back and mid field Did well in his second season with the team but unfortunately had to cut short his season due to off- field commitments.

# 88 Mark Shakesphere - “Shakers”: “Happy Gilmore” Mid/Back/Striker “Hey Shakers” ………….finally waited until game 3 in the div 2 comp to score a goal, then backed it up in round 4 to score one in the first half and then sat out the second half because he was soft!! Never got the podcast up and running during covid but provided plenty of “other” entertainment! # 27 Rubin Rikaloski - “Rubes” – toe punter & the “Rocket Man” – Fullback Safe in the backs and did well again to clear the ball or just sky one 30 metres up. Lack of “rocket” fuel this year so hoping supplies pick up next year.

75

# 58 Wayne Johnson -“Smurf” – Fullback Smurf has returned from injury and had a great season. He was all over the park and pretty solid in defence. You knew he was there on the field, just ask the boys from St Chrissies!! He doesn’t work on Mondays so playing a big game and playing hard on

Saturday doesn’t matter to him. Great effort this season!! # 13 Terence Hammond – “Glass Hamstring”: Forward Last year the goal got away from him….this year he scored a hat trick in Round 4 against St Chrissies B at Playford. Showed the team what he could do once they passed the ball to him.

# 50 Marty Whitear -“The Englishman”- Striker Now you see him , now you don’t!!! Hey Marty, what happen to the “header”?? Did you see the head pop out and then pop back in?? Marty created a lot of chances and bombed just as many, but he’ll tell you that it was a late ball or a bad pass. Generally kept on side this year but I think he passed that mantle to Tezzer! Scored some great goals and was right in the thick of it all the time. Well done, Marty.

Mark Wedgewood – “Forest Gump”: loyal team supporter When not out running, he is watching the comedy show from the sideline. Great to have around the team, thanks for coming down.

Referee fan club / out of control Danny Wedgewood – “Baby Wedgewood”, loyal team supporter There to support the team and a great fan of the referees. Actively provides encouragement to the referee and raises his hand to ask a question… “ what the F… was that ref??” Provides constructive feedback from time to time…….ie rarely!!!

Geoff Hewitt - “Mr Hawaii” and chief sledger, loyal team supporter A key figure in keeping the esky filled with ice and beer! Tried his hand with the bars for a few drinks in Hawaii mid-season, but soon realised that there is no better place to drink beer than with the boys on Kelso

or Marco after a match! Or in fact anywhere there was beer. Irish Darren Watters – Loyal team supporter What do you get when the Irish and the Kiwi come together…. Kirish! Kept the beers nice and cold and joined the Irish

connection in the team for a fun filled afternoon of laughter. Thanks for coming down and supporting the team and just drinking beer!!! 76

Over 35 B Coach: Dave McFadden Manager: Brett Lombe Players’ Player: Brett East Report: With a false start to the season and looked like 2020 was not going to happen it was hard to get back into the swing of it, well at least for the manager! First game against the 35/1s 2019 premiership winners was not what we needed to get the season started after a flogging 15-1 loss deflated the hopes and dreams of playing finals football which our team hasn’t done for many, many, many years. Playing a full season in a compacted time, playing midweek saw a few more injures than normal but good to see Wisey put the boots on more than normal to help with numbers. We got the news that the 35s combined competition would split after the first half of the season, we had hope again, especially after a few cold beverages. Even had a few turn up for training every week, a couple of times was joined by some of boys from 35/2As and also had a few training games with the AAL2s. Had a good year with some great moments but best of all the mateship between the players both on and off the field. And I should mention, WE MADE THE SEMIs!! After coming fourth place, going up against first place in the semi-finals we knew was going to be a hard battle. First goal was scored by US but our opposition also scored in the first half. At 1-1 at half time we were frustrating the opposition but unfortunately went down 4-1. Over 45 Division 1 Coach: Carlton United Breweries Manager: Jimmy Bowmaker Players’ Player: Stuart Clift Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 13 4 9 0 27 42 The highlights of the season were: • Midweek games at O’Neill. They were great. • Beer. • Kingy letting the ball bounce over his head as keeper, almost letting a goal in to end our finals hopes, one game before they actually ended.

The Team Name Commentary 1 Mark Ashley Master of showing up 5 minutes after the start to ensure a bench spot and then take the next 40 minutes to find his socks. When we did get him on the park, and off the punt, we were a better team. 2 Chad Bentley We didn’t realise we had as big a hole to fill until Chad came along. Great player and a top bloke whose passion to win and complete inability to step back from conflict really lifted the team. 3 Shane Brasch Hard to put poo on a really likeable guy. Quality player, quality bloke. Drinks his body weight in Great Northern at any opportunity. 4 Jimmy Bowmaker No comment. 5 Frank Cipri Week in and week out Franky showed up ready to play the full 90 which was great when it came to not having subs, but not so great if you want to win games. His best form of defence was getting so close to the opposition strikers that they would inhale the fumes from his hair dye and be too off-balance as a result to score goals. 6 Stuart Clift Great late signing, coming in mid-season with Chad and Pucko, scoring goals at will until he was shot by a Sniper and his calf gave out. Scored 6 goals in a one half game and then had to leave to go to work. 7 John Fitzharris Captain courageous comes to the fore again. In a season stymied by hamstring problems, Fitzy was, as ever, a rock on the field. 8 Mark Jones Mr consistent. You always know what you’re getting from Jonesy. Strong all year and a great team man. 9 Brett Kelly Really is only playing for the end of season trip, which may not happen (again), this time due to Covid and not pure disorganisation as per 2019. Scored a few, enjoyed himself and ever reliable. 10 Paul King I don’t think Kingy is next in line for the job as equipment officer given the number of times he forgot his boots, shorts and socks this year. Provided a valuable service in goals, not as a keeper, but letting everyone know who won the last race as he was streaming it live on his phone. 11 Peter Kovacs Even though his knees were shot, PK gave it a go and his class shone through for the games he was able to get up out of his wheelchair to play in. 12 Niko Papadopoulos Played out of his skin in the games he could make it to. In his last game he played 15 minutes with busted ribs due to no bench at Gosling (we did have players on the bench but they refused to make eye contact). 78

13 Shayne Puckeridge Pucko really gave us some starch. In the guts and scored one of the silkiest header goals I have had the pleasure to see. Very disappointed the electrical tape didn’t come out of mothballs. 14 Tamer Selim The quintessential team man, it must take a lot of effort to be this cheerful all the time. Tamer kept the record for goal scorers, not an onerous task this year. 15 Jay Smith Scored some crackers, made opposition look silly, another usual season for Jay. Performances really improved once there was water and Powerade in the esky along with the beer. Despite (ironically as a non-drinker) being crippled by gout at times, Jay pumped in the meds and made sure he was a pest to the referees all year. 16 Mark Stokehill No Turtle’s this year for “The Turtle”, but he stayed fit and we were a better side for it. Very popular member of the side. 17 Dermot Thomas Another year gone Dermie…….. For how long are we going to pursue the dream?!?! 18 Colin Walsh Big motor, runs all day, top bloke. 19 Craig Watts Absolutely one of the nicest bloke’s on the planet. Mr Reliable who shows up week in, week out whether we want him to or not. 20 Steve Williams Having Steve Williams listed as a player for this team is even more embarrassing than including myself.

All Age Men 3A Coach: Warren Gibson Manager: Ian Hamilton Players’ Player: Scott Gibson Season Summary: Semi Finalists Games Won Lost Draw Goals| Goals For Against 12 5 4 3 27 21 The highlights of the season were: • Making the Semis in a high standard competition with several new players joining the team this season. • 5-1 Win against Bankstown Sports while the Coach was away for the weekend. The Team Name Commentary 1 Tom Baker Tom has played in several teams I have coached. A skilled, Defender hardworking & reliable player. Just wants to be out on the field kicking arse as well as the ball. Another great year, Tom. 2 Dane Barnes Snr Player Group. One of our best & hardest working players. Great Team Captain leader with real football knowledge. Hates Loosing. Thanks for a Midfielder great season, Dane. 1 Goal 79

3 Matthew Cook A reliable defender and Team Player, Matt has the ability to pick his Defender / Midfielder opportunities and turn defence into attack, which created many goal 1 Goal scoring opportunities this season. Great year, Matt. 4 Brad Cooper One of our new young recruits. Fitted in with no worries Brad brought Midfielder skill & pace that was much needed and appreciated by the whole 2 Goals team. Couple of great goals as well. Great season, Brad. 5 Gavin Costello Great start to the season but had to carry some injuries for most of Midfielder / Striker the second half. Toughed it out and never let his team down. Another 1 Goal good year, Gavin. 6 Matthew Craft A great recruit who has been waisted in lower grades for years. Fitted Midfielder in easily and soon became a first picked player. Matt can play anywhere and often had to. A real bonus to the team. 7 Daniel Fallico One of the three Musketeer recruits, Daniel is a highly skilled player Striker / Forward and talented striker. Scored some great goals for us. A motivated 3 Goals lover of the game who encourages all around him. Thanks, Dan. 8 Scott Gibson With our 1st choice keeper struggling with injuries, Scott took over for Midfielder / majority of the season and rose to the task. Many great saves and Goalkeeper skilled ball distribution, gave the whole team confidence. When 2 Goals playing on the field Scott was also highly skilled and motivated. Loves the game. 9 Scott Hamilton Snr Player Group. Scott is “Safe As” in defence and won a lot of Midfield / Defender midfield ball for us. Injuries stifled his later part of the season, but 2 Goals some of our best results were when Scott was on the field. 10 Pat Henry Pat has excellent timing and controls the midfield with actions rather Midfielder than words. Always played full games and always gives 100%, not 5 Goals easy when playing in the middle. Some sensational goals and a great season, Pat. 11 Richard Kemp Another Musketeer who brought experience, skill and motivation. Defender Richard stepped up as a leader early on, which was a huge bonus 1 Goal and key element of the teamwork we achieved. Thanks, Richard. 12 Matthew Lee Snr Player Group. Matt’s motivation is second to none. Trained and Vice-Captain Played as often as possible while carrying a serious back injury. A Goalkeeper great Keeper playing well when he got on the park. A great motivator and leader. Thanks for all your valuable input, Matt. 13 Sam Nakhla Sam’s 2nd season with us and is one of our youngest players. Midfielder / Striker Commitments to studies sometimes clashed, but a very quick and skilled player who always gives 100%. Another good year, Sam. 14 Rohan Prior The Musketeer who brought not only his mates but a level of intensity Striker / Midfielder and strike power we really needed. Been trying to get Rohan to play 6 Goals with us for years. Proved a great asset with exceptional skills and a must win attitude. Highest Goal Scorer and a great season, Rohan. 15 Matthew Smith Missed some games due to injuries, but when he came good, he Midfielder / Defender proved he had not lost anything. Picked straight into Midfield, Matt’s natural ability and aggression won us a lot of ball and games. Well done, Matt. 16 Kayne Sorensen Our second young recruit, Kayne brings energy skills and some Midfielder / Striker natural flair that lifted the team whenever he was on the field. 3 Goals Deceptively fast, a lot of our team go forward was thanks to Kayne. 3 goals of his own as well. Great season. 17 Liam Yabsley Liam is a natural leader and his ability to organise a defence is our Defender / Sweeper backbone. His positive attitude and ability to motivate, even when the chips where down, helped us turn some games around. Well done, Liam.

Coach’s Report With so many new players, these men showed their maturity and talent by getting their teamwork sorted quickly and getting on with the job of being competitive in every game. The Senior Playing Group, Scott Hamilton, Matt Lee and Dane Barnes, have been leading this squad for several years. Well done again, guys. Special thanks to our dedicated hard working Manager, Ian Hamilton. As always, all the Team’s members are a credit to themselves and Panania RSL Soccer Club. A pleasure to coach. Panania RSL Soccer Club and all its Volunteers should be proud of their efforts, especially in this very testing year. Thanks from the entire AA3A Team, who are all very proud to play for such a great club. Manager’s Report Well I am glad that the season is over. It was on, then Covid and off, then back on. Kelso was then closed and training and home games played on foreign fields. We thank Bankstown Sports for letting us share Buchanan for training with them. Full marks to BDAFA and our committee for getting through such a difficult season. As for our players, I don’t think they were worried as long as they got a game or two in. Overall, it was a very good result coming in 4th, especially when the association added two PL 2 sides to our competition just before kick off. These 2 sides then fought out the grand final but to our credit we were the only side the Premiers, Revesby Workers B, did not win against. Congratulations to our B side in making the grand final in our division and hopefully you will be back playing Premier League next year. Well done to Scott Hamilton, 25 years service. Well done to our coach, Warren Gibson, hardly ever missed a training night or game day and he did a lot of work in the background ensuring the players were well looked after. Usually I would thank the mums and dads, wives and supporters but due to Covid we were lucky to have a supporter attend our games, although we did have Callum. Hopefully he will play next year and I will then be able to control him. Best wishes to Jodie, enjoy retirement and hopefully you may put your hand up for team manager next year. Special thanks to Richard for refereeing us on numerous occasions, even though it meant he would be late for his own team games. Merry Christmas to all and hopefully all the players will back up next season. Ian.

All Age Men 4 Coach: Alex Hassett Manager: Greg Hassett Players’ Player: Russell Butters Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals| Goals For Against 12 3 5 4 28 33

Highlights of the season were: • Actually having a season – looked very unlikely at one stage! The boys adjusted well to the new COVID training and game rule changes. • A very good season, unfortunately, for the medical professions with 3 season ending injuries in 2 weeks leaving us short in a couple of key spots. • Not having to referee a single game ourselves this year.

The Team Name Commentary 1 Alex Cole The captain of the team and the leading goal scorer by a long way. Scored 40% of his goals from the spot which was slightly better than his conversion percentage. Thinking of a career change to a chippy due the amount of damaged caused to the woodwork throughout the season. Showed great skill in putting one over the bar from 6 metres out. 2 Alex Hassett Strong on the ball and strong in the air. If he didn’t want to play a game at keeper he just needed to take the Lepre defence and break an arm. They heal more quickly than a knee. The season ending injury didn’t stop him being a major supporter of the team esky

83

3 Ben Fletcher Plays above his weight and never backs down in a contest. Gave away more penalties than the rest of the team combined. Spent most of his time at the back but showed he’s just as skilled up front. 4 Daniel Curran Rightly well supported in the players’ player voting to just miss the top spot. Tried hard every game and was the patron of the team esky. Managed to claim the title for the closest missed shot by getting inside Alex C’s masterful effort of 6 metres with an amazing 4 metre strike that went over the bar. 5 Gabriel Kilazoglou Great all round player with speed to burn. Provided excellent service from corners. Either matured this year or just benefiting from living under a different roof than Josh. 6 Hassan El- First year with the team with strong ball skills. Improved as the season Turkmani went on. Only player I’ve ever seen to be given a high 5 from the referee after a sizzling run through the mid field, beating 7 players and setting up a goal for Alex C. 7 Jake Gilmour A talented player that can fill any position. Played through injury this season – had to stop doing his half time fitness workout. Needs to control his aggression when marking ex-team mates. 8 Joel Ryder Always busy across the park. Loved a long run early in the game. Magnificent strike to equalise against North Bankstown. Good supporter of the team esky. 9 Joshua Kilazoglou A workhorse at the back and one of the quickest in the team over 20 metres. Has a maximum range of 30 metres. After coming to terms with his height last year he had a couple of relapses this year. Pulled off a couple of sensational goal saving tackles after the keeper had been beaten. 10 Kendal Hull A promising season cut short with a serious knee injury. Chose to use the ice pack he was given when he injured his knee to keep his beer cold. A man who knows his priorities in life. 11 Kevin Pham Our starting keeper who managed only a handful of games before his shoulder, after several seasons of threatening to, finally fell off. Brave, but time to go under the knife. 12 Marcus Townsend Wasn’t going to play this year but made the mistake of coming to training and the bug bit him. Strong on the ball with a great shot when given the chance. Very happy to get on the scorer’s sheet in the last game of the season as there is cold weather predicted for the end of season trip. 13 Mark Lepre Must have missed his man shake delivery that he was going to order in the off season. Always looking for the ball up front. Should know the offside rule by now. 14 Neil Chand One part of the magnetic brothers in the backline – one with a positive charge. Getting a haircut before the game and no product cost the first goal against North Bankstown at Playford. Second to none in promoting the ball when play is stopped. Misdiagnosed 2 season ending knee injuries as just a bump and told them to harden up and be more like him. Should invest in a MRI machine. 15 Russell Butters Scored the toe poke of the season if not the decade - had more movement on it than a Shane Warne leg break. Great competition with Alex C for leading goal scorer and may have taken it out if he was allowed any of the penalties he earnt. Took over from Alex H as the go to in the air from a corner kick. Issued a warning to the team when the players’ player pole went out that if he didn’t win he would launch an investigation and ruthlessly hunt those down who didn’t vote for him. He won players’ player and is now considering a move into politics.

16 Sophie Ryder Team marshal that absolutely ruled with an iron fist. Her way or the highway. Tried to soften her image one week by bringing a cheese board. None of the team recognised what a cheese board was so they made sure they kept the esky between themselves and the confusing attempt at culture. 17 William Zhou Second year with the team and showed that he could play a range of positions from keeper to up front. After discovering that his teammates were not that reliable in giving him a lift to the game he decided to spend the equivalent of the GDP of a small pacific nation on buying his first car. In the off season he hopes to learn to park it. 18 Zak Bosco The other part of the magnetic brothers – also with a positive charge. A beast in the backline with a strong physical presence, much to the annoyance of one match official. Only person to play a game at keeper who refused to use his hands “to make it a more even contest”

All Age Men 5 Coach: Daniel Mason / Trevor Maggs Manager: Trevor Maggs Players’ Player: Brendan Barlow Season Summary: Games Bye Won Lost Draw Goals| Goals For Against 14 6 5 3 27 23 14 Highlights of the season were: • A big 8-0 win for our first win of the year. • Some great efforts to beat tough teams, despite the challenges we faced this year. The Team Name Commentary 1 Matthew Bailey 1 of 4 young fellas that joined our team after a few rounds, Matt quickly established himself as a gun and had the starting right back spot locked in for himself before an ACL injury cruelled his season. Wishing you a speedy recovery, mate. 2 Brendan Barlow A late inclusion to the team and what a pick up. I know he’ll have a good chuckle at being named players’ player, however Barlow thoroughly deserved it. Many a game was saved by the gloves of our keep. A great bloke to have in the team, the kitty enjoyed having him around also. 3 Bryce Bentley Hamstring injuries plagued his season, but Riz showed why he is so dangerous, regularly scoring goals despite only being on the field for short stints. Fingers crossed you come back for another round next year, mate. 4 Ricky Crump Another late inclusion to the team, I’d heard great things about Ricky and was very excited when I heard he was joining the team. He didn’t disappoint, running a very close second in the players player scoring. Thanks for the great season, mate.

85

5 Christian My fellow chrome dome, Christian bunkered down in the defensive line for Dominguez most of the season before getting some free reign later on to have a run further up. Despite having several years out of the game, showed he still has what it takes. Was great to have you as part of the team, mate. 6 Martin A player with passion and intensity rivalled by few, Marty is always a great Gallagher addition to a team on and off the field. Always ready to impart his thoughts and knowledge, and never one to shirk the hard work, if we can just cut the yellows out of his game he’d be great all round (we still love ya Marty). 7 Mohamad Moey proved a great find, being brought in near the season start. A hard Geftlick worker and team player, Moey showed that whatever role was asked of him he adapted and took it head on. It was great to have Moey on board for the year, hopefully you enjoyed being a part of the team too mate. 8 Joel Hatton The second player in our team to have their season cut short by an ACL injury. Losing a player the calibre of Joel was always going to have an effect, and it showed at points in the year. Hopefully, this isn’t the curtain call on Joel’s career but if it is, what a career it’s been. All the best, mate. 9 Christian The second of the young mid season signings, Christian was thrown Laidler around into almost every position bar centre back and keeper. He showed great versatility by stepping up and playing well in every position he played. Thanks for the great season, mate. 10 Andrew Lentini Lentini 1 of 4 – having never played competitive soccer before, Andy quickly showed his natural athletic Lentini genes and adapted to the game very quickly. Whatever he lacked in experience he made for with blistering speed and extreme enthusiasm. A great first year, hopefully many more to come. 11 Daniel Lentini Lentini 2 of 4 – the youngest of the Lentini family, Danny has more talent in his left big toe than I have in my whole body. A great player to watch with ball at foot, I’m glad I got to play with you rather than against you. 12 Enzo Lentini Lentini 3 of 4 – that’s right 4 Lentinis in the same team. Enzo got to live the dream of many men by playing with his 3 sons. He more than held his own showing deft touch for a player more than double the age of many of our team. Another one to keep the kitty ticking over nicely. 13 Jesse Lentini Lentini 4 of 4 – Jesse led from the front figuratively and literally, being our leading goal scorer from centre mid. Jesse‘s footwork is some of the best I’ve ever season and the km his legs would’ve travelled across the season would’ve been boggling, regularly moving from the defensive line all the way up to striker and back again. 14 Daniel Mason We were looking forward to having a dedicated coach to take the reins, but family life and the fact he reffed more games than he got to watch, meant Maso didn’t exactly get to have the coaching year he would’ve liked. It wouldn’t be a soccer team without Mase for me though. 15 Trevor Maggs Probably not the best year to pick as my first ever as coach/manger with the wife due to give birth to our second child during the season. But the Mrs didn’t kill me, and these old legs got me through another season. Was extremely happy with the effort of the team and look forward to doing it all again next year. 16 Chris Nguyen The third of the mid season signings, Chris was quickly moved to the very unfamiliar role of centre back, but he took it in his stride and adapted quickly to own the position. A late season switch to his preferred attacking roles paid dividends opening up goal scoring opportunities straight away. Either way Chris is a great asset to the team. 17 Sumedh Sumedh provided great stability in the middle and up front. Will be Padmawar remembered for the crazy goal from a corner. It was a fantastic season from another of our players that came in from out of area, not knowing anyone, but quickly adapted and improved the team cohesion. 86

18 Pat Pasquale The second player in our team old enough to be many of the team’s dad, Pat nearly had his season derailed due to a back injury. He was able to come back however and gain some momentum, barely missing a beat for the rest of the year. Thanks for the season, mate. 19 Ryan Sarayeldin Another player that was thrown around into just about every position, I think Ryan found his best spot up in the attacking line where his touch allowed him to get ball to feet and work with the other attacking players in goal scoring raids. Great season, mate. 20 Ben Shears The final of our young mid season signings, it took us way too many games to find out Ben was a left footer when we’d played him just about everywhere but at left mid. Ben had a great year, regularly turning defenders inside out with his footwork. 21 Jason Williams Quintessentially Panania, Jase bleeds blue, white and yellow. Jase has the uncanny knack of heading into traffic with the ball at feet, and coming out the other side with the ball still at feet. A great team player that always puts his hand up on and off the field to do what needs to be done

Coach/Manager’s Report: This was mostly a new team, many playing for Panania for the first time. The results from the year, whilst a little disappointing, were still a great achievement for a team thrown together very late. 2 ACL injuries to key players took their toll on the team structure, alongside other injuries and life in general making continuity hard to come by. We finished with 20 registered players and never had to sit a player out, which shows how all over the place our season got at times. Our season came down to 2 final games against Bankstown Sports on the Wednesday night and Saturday of the final week. We came into the night game full of passion coming from 5th spot to beat them 3-1. Come Saturday we were a bit flat and despite all our efforts, a 3-0 loss relegated us to 5th place ending our season. As mentioned, I still feel this was a great effort for a team of players that came from everywhere to form a team and just go out there to enjoy some soccer. We did have some great wins including our first win being 8-0, then some fantastic efforts to beat all of the eventual top 4 teams bar 1st. I thoroughly enjoyed my year both as an organiser and as a player. It was a great bunch of blokes to kick a ball around with and share a beer afterwards, hopefully most of you are keen to go around again next year. Cheers guys.

All Age Men 7 Coach: Amir Atme Manager: Amir Atme Players’ Player: Anthony Sams Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 13 8 4 1 35 19 The highlights of the season were: • The volunteers. This includes Andrew (team sheets), David (training, coaching & esky) and all of those who put their gloved hands up to have a go in nets. Without the efforts of Rhino, Howie, Andrew, Josh and everyone else that donned the long-sleeve jersey; we would have had a lot more losses and a lot less fun this season. • Beating Padstow United every time we played them. While we won a lot of games this year, the victories against Padstow United were always the sweetest. • The 10-1 effort against Greenacre Eagles. Whilst Greenacre were struggling with the heat, no subs and most of their team fasting; this was still the best attacking game I have ever seen by this team.

The Team Name Commentary 1 Morgan The ultimate super-sub. Given his age, Morgan’s output was amazing this Armstrong season. Whilst a very formidable back and a solid midfielder, Morgan’s true value comes in the way he reads the game and delivers inspirational messages from the sideline. 2 Paul Ashley Paul is one of the players in our team that’s almost too good to be playing with us, so I’m only going to say nice things in the hopes that he comes back next year. Possibly our most skilful player, Paul saved our ass on the field more times than I can remember. 3 Amir Atme A true jack of all trades and master of none. This was the second season in a row where Amir played in every position on the field. Highlights included: his clean sheets in goals, surviving a half as referee, learning how to head the ball (poorly) before the final game of the season; and finding out that Shaun was going to come back as manager next season. 4 Simon Frazer Another newbie to the team this year, Simon fit right in with his love of The Simpsons, Beer and soccer. Not just quick on his feet, Simon picked up players names quickly this year, calling Andrew by his preferred nickname (Jerk) right from game number 2. 5 Darren Friel Darren brought an enthusiasm and energy that was completely unrivalled this year; from preparing his own training drills, to keeping a personal tally of his goals and assists. Hopefully next year he can take his game to the next level and take out the golden boot and the elusive title of Irish number 1. 6 Josh Holt The enforcer that stops opponents dead in their tracks. Josh always puts his hands up to do the hard work that the team needs; and is usually doing it with little-to-no sleep under his belt. A genuinely dedicated legend that we’re lucky to have (especially if there’s a player on the other team that needs to be straightened out). 7 Jarryd Howard We’re almost getting tired of saying Jarryd is the most improved player in our team every year, but he improved more this year than anyone could have expected. Jarryd always gave it his all out on the field and his improvement is surely related to his dedication to training (fox feeding and all).

88

8 Nathan Howard The ultimate team player, Howie rolled up his sleeves this year and did whatever the team needed. Whether he was in goals or in the middle of the field, Howie always put the team first. Now all we need is for him to start putting his alarm on first so he can get to games on time. 9 Andrius A true team player that gave his all for every minute of every game he Jurksaitis played, and stepped up to sort out the team sheets all year. Andrew has an uncanny ability make ‘friends’ with players in every team we play against, and we’re really glad he didn’t get into any fights this year. The last thing we’d want is to take him to a judiciary hearing. 10 Barney Mc Barney joined our team this year and gave us some true polish up front. Guigan Whilst he could slot them from anywhere, his hat-trick effort early in the season cemented his nickname and legacy as Irish number 1 11 Murray Meller A high achiever in our players’ player poll, Murray is the kind of player every team needs. He fills in in every position and is always at training and games with a smile on his face. It’s a shame we can’t download his brain and attitude into a computer and share it with a few others on this team. That might be a project for him to work on in the offseason. 12 Stuart Molloy Mr dependable. Year in, year out, Stewie comes along and delivers solid performance after solid performance. Whenever you look to the backs, his luscious hair is always there to fill you with confidence. 13 Ryan Perrin Whether he was putting his hand as keeper or locking down our defence, Rhino was stopping goals left and right all year. Hopefully we can get him that elusive victory next year so we have an excuse to try his highly endorsed home brew. 14 Nathan Ruppas Ruppas kept on with his usual high speed, high intensity, high fatigue game style that we all know and love. Throughout the year, Ruppas showed his value not only as a winger (scoring quite possibly the goal of the year), but also as a sideline motivator. 15 Anthony Sams The guy that somehow holds both our attack and defence together. He combined seamlessly with the forwards this year for some of the greatest attacking plays in the team’s history. The kind of player absolutely everyone loves having on their team. Hopefully next year we’ll be able to have him in the finals as well. 16 David Vu Our vice-captain, spiritual leader, and rock. Whether he’s running a thousand miles an hour to shut down an enemy attack, or there with the esky – providing the team with much-needed hydration; David was always there when he was needed. 17 Harrison The glue that held this team together in so many games. Harry is the kind Walther of player that was everywhere we needed him to be, doing the hard stuff. We just need to make sure he starts nursing his injuries, so he doesn’t turn out like his brother. 18 Thomas Walther Tom reads the game well, has great skills and delivers no matter what position he’s playing. If he was healthy, he’s surely be the best player in the district; but we’re happy with the perpetually injured legend we have.

All Age Men 8 Coach: Simon Masterton Manager: Bob Bell Players’ Plater: Ryan Melvold Season Summary: Games Won Lost Draw Goals Goals For Against 14 3 8 3 10 23 Highlights of the year were: • Beating Workers the first time. • Beating Workers the second time. • Finding a keeper who could play most weeks! The Team Name Commentary 1 Omar Al-Azzawi Created and finished plenty of opportunities up front, great to have in the team! 2 Phil Artlett Part of our strong defence and got some good ball to left mid this season. 3 Ian Bell Always a great addition to the defence when he takes the field, cheers for another great year! 4 Ali Chami Big addition to the team and put his hand up for centre mid when needed, vocal on and off the field. 5 Sam Chami Gave it his all at left mid all season and showed plenty of improvement in attack. 6 Mitch Dinham Held up the middle nicely and was a massive pain for the opposition, which we love to see. 7 Bakkar El-Chami A couple of cracking free kicks which lifted the whole team, and generally a good strike. 8 Michael Garbellini Defended like a mafia boss with the last slice of pizza – good to see this grub’s antics didn’t disappear over the off season. 9 Scott Guest No scoring header this year but a few well deserved yellows, and ruffled a few feathers in the process. 10 Jack Jones Like your mum’s fine china – a luxury to have but absolutely made of glass. Better luck next season! 11 Gabriel Kallis No one’s better at injecting the team with energy when we need it. Slots in anywhere, great season! 12 Nick Kastrounis Always a calm head at the back alongside Ryan, and props for never missing training when it’s on. 13 Simon Masterton Sprints 100% of the time which pays off 10% of the time, sometimes fills in the team sheet right. 14 Ryan Melvold Deserving Players’ Player this year, always cleaning up our mess at the back and getting us back on the front foot. 15 Sean Ross Devastating to lose him early in the season, but showed some great signs in the mids before that. Hope you’re on the field again before long mate. 16 Daniel Smith Huge in when he decided to sign up early this year, ending our search for a new keeper. Bettered only by Jack ‘Cleansheet’ Jones in goals.

Report Well what an interesting year to say the least. Difficult year all around but a learning curve for this young side and a new pair of coaches as well. Results wise, a pretty disappointing year but we are building up a very strong squad that can in the future be right up there come semi-final time, year after year . With an average age of about 24, if we stick together and play as hard and train committed as we did in this very challenging year, the results will come our way, I am sure . At one point we had 15 players out injured! Logan Hession was our Players’ Player in First Grade and that’s with being out for 6 games after someone popped his finger back in and probably did more damage , I actually thought I did a pretty good job , OOPS. Logan was closely followed by Max and Christian. Nathan Linabury smashed it in Reserve Grade playing most of the year injured, week in and week out, but never once complained and kept banging in much needed goals for us . Once again the old man of the squad Paul Edmunds came in at second, just pipping one of the youngest players, Matthew Loy. Burger Looking forward to the next season with: • brand new fields; • newly renovated change rooms; • a proper year of training; and • hopefully, a lot less injuries . Thanks to all the boys for an enjoyable year and a special thanks to Greg Williams and Vaughn Hunter. Bring on 2021!
