Introduction:

Government First Grade college Bellare, Sullia T Q established in the year 1991 with its library. The library established with a vision to serve the information needs of its users effectively and efficiently. The library holds mainly collection related to Arts, Commerce, Social work subjects along with Kannada and English Literature. It is a center of learning, information and knowledge. The college library functions in the class room. Open access has been introduced in our library. Our college library partially automated with New GenLib software. The LAN connected with in the library for searching documents through OPAC. The college library works with the vision of its college to create an integral system that meets the educational needs of the teachers and students community at large and further, the transformation of rural youths into human resources of globe.

2. Mission of the library:

“To provide information sources and services in support of Study teaching, instruction, and/or curricular offerings of the library users to enable them to became quality human resourses of the globe”

3. Objectives:

1. To acquire, organize and update the library collection to support the college Units teaching learning Program. 2. To encourage the students to read beyond the requirements of the curriculum for their own development and enjoyment. Further to acquire the necessary skills and habits to continue their education even after graduation. 3. To provide up-to-date information and knowledge for each and every student impartially by taking into consideration of mental, physical, social and spiritual needs of the students may grow up as responsible citizen. 4. To provide instructions and assistance for students and teachers in the effective use of learning resources/ services. 5. To work with the faculty in integrating information skills, knowledge of information sources and the use of technology in accessing information needed to strengthen their instruction, research and extension programs. 6. Fast learners to encourage to achieve excellence, while the slow learners are given special attention to overcome their deficiencies by providing required study materials for them. 7. Creating skills and abilities among students by fulfilling global needs to attain employment opportunities and provide information on job opportunities. 8. Making rural youths academically, socially competent by crating reading habits in order to make responsible citizens of .

4. Working hours: The library functions on all working day except suday and Public holidays. It is kept open from 9.00a.m. to 5.00p.m. on all working days. On Saturday the library opens till 2 pm

Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00 pm Saturday 9.00am to 2.00 pm Sunday & Holidays -- Examination days 9.00am to 5.30 pm

5. Source of Finance: The college library gets grants from state governments; new books are added to collections regularly. Each department is each department is getting allocation for their collection development so that faculty can purchase books related to their subject that make a deference to their courses.

6. Staff The staff is the key factor in execution of the function of any organization. So a sound staff structure is very much needed in order to conduct efficient library services. In our college library dedicated staff pleasure in providing the best of information services in the library. The total number staff in the library is 02 i.e.,the Librarian (on Deputation four days in a week) and Library Assistant.

The library has a collection of 15,576 Volumes (8335 Titles the reading room is subscribing 33 magazines, 9 journals and 8 dailies. The Library has a very good reference collection. It includes dictionaries, year-books, competitive exam books, gazetteer, maps and subject reference books etc.,

16. Admission to the Library: The students required to produce their college identity card and two passport size photographs and collect their library borrower’s card. This allows them to use the library and borrow the books.

18. Book Landing /Circulation procedures:

For issue of books, students have to give the requisition slip at the circulation counter along with his library ticket. The books will be kept reserved and issued 10 am to 4.30 pm. After necessary checking the library staff will issue the book by writing due date on the due date slip. The library book issue, return and renewal transactions are entered in the library software. While issuing books from the library, the user will get messages through e-mail. Books should be brought to the library for return and renewal. Lending period is 15 days. Issue details and renewal remainders will be sending through e-mail. Conditions for borrowing Books 1. Students are eligible to borrow two books at a time on their library tickets. 2. The two or more books on same title will not be issued to any user. 3. Students should not sub land the books and other documents borrowed from the library. 4. The Magazines and journals issued overnight only. 5. If a book or periodical is not returned in good condition, in due date stamped fine will be charged as per governments rules. 6. Loss of borrower’s ticket should be reported in writing to the librarian immediately. The library will issue a fresh ticket on payment of Rs. 50/- as fine. 7. Library tickets are not transferable. 8. The borrower is fully responsible for the books borrowed on his ticket. Rs. 100/- fine for each document will be collected for damaging Barcode slip. 9. The librarian /library staff may recall a book at any time before its due date, in case there is a demand from faculty

21. Additional services from the Library: 1. Assistance for applying competitive examination 2. Online freely available books/documents are downloaded on requirement of the users. It will sent through E-mail or through what’s App. 3. UGC-NET Readers club for PG student’s whatsApp group is created. The Librarian will sent notifications, old UGC NET question papers, soft books /documents/you tube videos and related information will sent to the group members as when they required. 4. The printing facility is provided in the library for users with nominal charges. LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. All library users are required to enter their names and sign the register provided at the entrance. 2. Students can borrow certain number of books, periodicals (other than the current issue), CDs for a certain period of time as stipulated and communicated by the Librarian. 3. Students can borrow one book for internal use, subject to the condition that they return the book on the same day of issue. 4. Library books are required to be returned by the student on or before the due date. A fine will be levied after the expiry of the due date. All issued books must be returned and library fines (if any) must be settled on time. 5. Borrowers shall replace lost or damaged library materials with new versions of the same. 6. Renewal of library book and of the educational materials are generally allowed if no reservation has been made for the same. 7. Personal items, for example books, folders, files, blazer, jerkins, overcoats, etc. are not allowed in the library. 8. Case studies and project reports will not be issued to students and are for library reference purpose only. 9. Library users are expected to maintain silence at all times in the library. Cell phones and their use prohibited. 10. Library users should present their identity card for the borrowing or renewal of library material. The Librarian reserves the right to deny the issuance or renewal of library materials where the identity card is not presented by the student. 11. Marking of any kind, underlining, writing on books, and defacing any publication are strictly prohibited and if defaced, the item must be replaced with a new one. 12. Smoking anywhere inside the library premises is prohibited as is the consumption of food and refreshments. 13. The membership of the library is not transferable. 14. Books or journals removed from the shelves should not be replaced on the shelves but should be left on the table. 15. All library users are expected to read the notice board or browse the library website for library timings and other services. 16. The librarian reserves the right to refuse admission to any student violating the rules and regulations of the library. 17. Students are requested to maintain the dress code of the Institution while they are in the library. 18. Students should return all the borrowed items from the library clear all fines and return the library ID card before leaving the Institution.
