David V. Strauss

David V. Strauss of New Braunfels, has served on the GVSUD board since 2016. He has lived in the area full time for five years, but has owned the property for the past 15 years. Prior to moving to this area, he spent many years in the greater area.

Having spent more than 40 years in a career spanning nationwide development and construction consulting, David has dealt with a wide range of infrastructure projects including water distribution systems, elevated water towers, wastewater collection systems, wastewater treatment plants, highways and bridges.

Driven by a lifelong commitment to public service, David has consistently dedicated time and knowledge to serving the communities he has called home. He served on a utility district board in Montgomery County which involved water, wastewater and stormwater management development issues immediately prior to moving to Guadalupe County.

David served as a city councilman and mayor pro tem for the City of Bellaire (The City of Bellaire is located in and has a population of just over 17,000 residents. Bellaire is located minutes southwest of Houston from the city's downtown and the Galleria.), where he dealt with state mandates to convert from well water to surface water, wastewater plant expansion, doubling of stormwater collection and storage, and other related infrastructure issues. He also served as co-chairman of the West Loop Redesign Coalition (Houston’s IH-610 West Loop), with the responsibility of representing the residential elements along the corridor. This included sound mitigation, landscape beautification, realignment and widening of lanes, and changes in entrances and exits, as well as utility modifications.

David joined the Green Valley SUD Board of Directors in 2016 and is currently a member of New Facility Committee. In addition, he is involved in other community service activities in the area, including serving as Vice President of Long Creek Owners Association in Guadalupe County. He is also a member of the Architectural Review Committee there and is involved with the Lake McQueeney dewatering situation.

David, along with his wife Sandy and dog, Roscoe, are firmly established in Guadalupe County. His interests and hobbies include golf and travel, and quality time with family and friends.
