Economic Trends

Glendale is showing strength in a number of categories. Sales tax figures in the fourth quarter of 2015 show a 4.2% increase over the same quarter in 2014.

Home values in Glendale are also increasing, surpassing the other Tri-Cities in both prices and market expectations.

The office market is holding strong. With lower per square foot costs than Burbank and Pasadena, Glendale's Class A vacancy rates continue in their downward trend.

Rockhaven: Revision & Extension

The current Rockhaven Request for Proposals has been expanded

to allow for additional concept submissions. The new submission deadline is Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 5 PM. The site presents a unique opportunity for adaptive reuse of the historic location.

Nestled in the charming Montrose area of Glendale, Rockhaven is rich in history and beauty. An additional tour date has been scheduled on Thursday, June 30 from 9 AM - 11 AM for interested proposers.

Affordable Housing in Glendale's Arts & Entertainment District

Glendale's Arts & Entertainment District is welcoming a new addition! Ace/121 is currently under construction and will have 69 affordable housing units available as rentals in Fall 2016. This joint project between Meta Housing Corporation, the Glendale Housing Authority, and the YMCA of Glendale is located in downtown Glendale.

Income qualified applicants that meet certain preferences will be awarded points based on those preferences. Preference points are available for artists, those who live in Glendale, and those who work in Glendale (or Senior 62+ or disabled). Deadline for application submission is July 5. Learn more here.

Heat Advisory: Conserve Energy

Following the Aliso Canyon natural gas losses, Southern California may experience rolling outages, especially during hot/peak days, due to reduced power generation capabilities. GWP will continually work to reduce and avoid electrical interruptions while Aliso Canyon undergoes the necessary safety review. GWP will not always know when and where the outages will happen, however will notify residents and businesses of areas affected by
