Thank you again to all who have paid. 2016 subject contributions are used for resources in classrooms this year and rely on the funds to ensure planned classrooms activities go ahead. Payment plans can be organised through the Relieving SAM Mrs Marianna Hunt. Payments can be made through POP on the school website. School Improvements Over the holidays the hall ceiling was painted and what a difference it has made to the facility. Two classrooms received new carpet, and we are hoping to unveil a new science classroom which will accommodate smaller classes in the next couple of weeks. With the help of Wollongong Council we are in the process of reclaiming land on the southern side of our school oval. Rain over the school holiday period meant the equipment would damage the fields, hence it has been stalled. We are hoping work will recommence shortly. So far two cricket pitches and the end of the netball court have been cleared. Junior Girls Uniform In response to receiving a number of requests from our junior girls for the introduction of a dress as part of our school uniform, Mrs Canvin, Supervisor of Girls, and I will be consulting with key stake holders to gauge support for this initiative. Anecdotally, I believe there is plenty of support, however our planning process will of course include consulting with parents. We have started the process with a meeting with interested Year 7 & 8 girls and some discussion with parents of the P & C. We are very proud of the improved standard of uniform that we continue to encourage. Many of the girls are wearing school pants. These pants are designed to be worn as long pants, to the shoe, and not rolled up. When worn appropriately the pants look quite flattering and hence we ask parents to assist with hemming the pant legs if required. External Validation Process This term Bulli High School is participating in the School Excellence Framework (SEF) External Validation Process. This DoE led approach to school excellence involves a validation of ongoing self-assessment practices led by school leaders which inform annual reporting and school planning. Once every five years each school will undergo an external validation of the evidence of their school’s assessment of progress by an independent panel comprising of a Principal, School Leadership and a peer principal. Bus Update I am in regular contact with Premier Coaches but am yet to hear a decision on any changes to our bus times for 2017. Have a great term Chris Gregory Principal Respect - Responsibility - Integrity Page | 3 Deputy Principal’s News Update on our Houses. As you will remember we have restructured our school houses to include 5 teams and introduced new names. Students can earn points for their houses the traditional way by competing at sporting carnivals but can now also get points by earning merits and participating in extracurricular activities both in and out of school.

Bulli Public School Annual Report 2016 1411 Page 1 of 26 Bulli Public School 1411 (2016) Printed on: 12 April, 2017 Introduction It is with pride that I present to the community the 2016 Bulli Public School Annual Report. Committed to our values of achievement, friendship, respect, responsibility and safety, the school has provided opportunities for our students to uphold these values. In recognition of the school's achievements and improvements in literacy and numeracy since 2014, the Department of Education selected Bulli Public School as a 'Bump It Up' school for 2017 – 2019. These improvements are largely the result of differentiated learning experiences that cater to the academic needs of individual students and the quality professional learning undertaken in both literacy and numeracy. Our proactive student welfare programs continued to foster positive relationships between our students regardless of age or grade. A focus on developing friendships and respectful relationships has resulted in a harmonious, happy and safe school for all. Bulli Public School prides itself on providing opportunities to create and support responsible and respectful students. School, House and Peer Leaders, Student Representative Council members, Tech Team, students involved in extra–curricular activities, and members of the Enviro Club all take on roles that demonstrate leadership, initiative, respect and responsibility. The P&C plays an integral role in supporting the progress of the school and we acknowledge the role that a strong relationship between the community and the school plays in improving outcomes for all students. In 2016, the P&C conducted a range of significant events including the Welcome Barbecue, Mothers' and Fathers' Day stalls, Easter and concert raffles and an end of year barbecue to coincide with the concert.
