Hirachand Nemchand College of Commerce, National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit Annual Report - 2017-18 To provide an extension dimension to the higher education system and orient the student youth to community services, to understand the community in which we live, to identify the needs and problems of the community and involve our self in problem solving process NSS unit of our college undertake various programs. Developing social and civic sense of responsibility among the students and to utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to problems; acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude, we have conducted following programs during the year. ▪ 05th June 2017, Environment Day: To observe Environment day tree plantation activity has been undertaken by NSS unit in the college campus at the hands of students and staff members. Student volunteers have taken responsibility of nurturing the plants.

▪ 21st June, 2017, World Yoga Day: World Yoga Day was observed in college, on this day guest lecture of Adv. Shantveer Mahindrakar was organized on topic of ‘Stress Management and Yoga’. All NSS volunteers, students and staff have got benefited of this lecture.

▪ 11th July 2017, Population Day Rally: To observe World Population Day, Family Planning Association, Solapur Branch and Rotary Club Solapur have organized rally from Social College to MIM College Solapur to create awareness about population, our college NSS volunteer have actively participated in the rally and created awareness about problems due to growing population.

▪ 17 July 2017, Tree Plantation: Tree Plantation Programme has been taken by NSS unit in College campus. NSS students and staff members have taken actively participation in said programme. Regularly students are taking care of these trees.

▪ 28th July 2017, HB Test Camp: Free HB test camp for students was organized on 28th July 2017 in collaboration with Family Planning Association, Solapur. HB test of 245 students have been carried out in the said camp.

▪ 1st Aug. to 7th Aug. 2017, Rashtriya Swachhta Saptah : Cleanliness Drive: Cleanliness drive by NSS unit has undertaken in college campus on 1st Aug. to 7 Aug. 38 students have been participated in the campaign and clean the campus.

▪ 28th Aug 2017, Health Checkup and HB Test Camp for Girl Students: Free HB test and health checkup camp for girl students was organized on 28th Aug in collaboration with Family Planning Association, Solapur. Free physical check up, counseling and HB was test of 130 girl students have been carried out in the said camp.

▪ 31st Aug. 2017, Lecture on Social Work: Guest lecture on ‘Social Work as Career’ by Mr. Jitesh Rathi has been organized in the college to create awareness and importance about social work.

▪ 31st Aug. 2017 Leprosy awareness Lecture: Leprosy awareness Lecture has been organized with Solapur Municipal Corporation. 85 students have participated in this lecture. PPT presentation was organized for awareness about leprosy.

▪ 1 to 15th sept., 2017, Swachhta Pakhwada: Swachhta Pakhwada (Cleanliness) campaign was undertaken by the NSS unit from 1Sept. to 15 Sept., to clean the College area and prepare sports ground. 52 volunteers and staff member have actively participated in the campaign.

▪ 5th Sept. 2017, Nirmalya Sankalan: NSS student volunteers have actively participated in the collection of nirmalya with daily Sakal newspaper in Solapur. Nirmalya collection refers to collection of holey offering to the God like garlands, flowers etc. 30 Students have participated in the campaign and collected nirmalya on the occasion of Ganesh Visarjan at Kambar Talav to prevent water pollution and protect environment.

▪ 2nd Oct. 2017, Campus Cleaning: Campus cleaning activity was undertaken by NSS unit on 2nd Oct. on occasion of Gandhi Jayanti 47 students volunteers have participated in the activity.

▪ 08th Dec. 2017, Blood Donation Camp: Blood donation camp was organized in collaboration with HDFC bank and Damani Blood Bank Solapur. 36 student volunteers and staff have donated blood in this camp.

▪ 18th Dec. 2017, Minority Day: Guest lecture organized on occasion of Minority Day on ‘Rights of Minority People’ by Dr. Mahaveer Shastree. Students of Hirachand Nemchand College of Commerce and Walchand College of Arts and Science attended said lecture.

▪ 24th Dec. 2017, National Consumers Day: NSS depart of Solapur University, Solapur and Collector Office Solapur has organized rally for consumer awareness. Our NSS students actively participated in this rally.

▪ 12th Jan. 2018, Youth Day: Guest Lecture organized and celebrated Vivekanand Jayanti by NSS department in college campus students and faculty members were attended said programme. Prof. Sakle S.J. delivered lecture on Swami Vevekanand.

▪ 17th to 23rd Jan. Annual Camp: As per Solapur University guidelines, Our college has completed successfully completed annual camp at Aachegaon, Tlq. South Solapur. Various motivated lectures organized in this camp and various programme have been completed like, tree plantation, cleanliness, survey etc.

▪ 24th Jan. 2018 Campus cleaning: Campus cleaning activity was undertaken by NSS unit on 24th Jan. on occasion of Republic Day. 37 students volunteers and teaching and non- teaching staff have participated in this activity.

▪ 25th Jan 2018 Voter awareness rally: NSS depart of Solapur University, Solapur and Collector office organized Voter awareness rally from char puthala to Rangbhavan. Our 48 students and two Professors participated in said rally.

▪ 10th Feb. 2018 Participation in State Level Camp: Mr. Amol Bondarde has participated in seven days (10 Feb 2018 to 16 Feb 2018) state level NSS camp organized by “Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur.”

▪ 26th Jan. 2018 to 10th Feb. 2018 Democracy Fortnight: Celebrated the Democracy Fortnight during 26th January 2018 to 10th February 2018. To celebrate the Democracy Fortnight following competition were organized. Essay Competition, Poster Competition and Slogan Competition. Overall 5o students had participated in these completions. The subjects for the competition were based on Democracy, Good Governance and Voter Awareness.

▪ 1st to 18th Feb. Social Media Mahamitra Program: We have implemented the Social Media Mahamitra Program in our college during 1st to 18th February 2018. On this occasion Mr. Santosh Gaikwad representative from ‘Anulom’ was invited for the programme and he guided the students about downloading the App, registration. The college has taken efforts to create awareness amongst the students. In all 258 students participated in the programme.

27th Feb. 2018 Marathi Bhasha Gourav Din: College students and faculty members have actively participated in Granth Dindi 2018 jointly organised by Higher Education Department, Govt. of and Solapur University Solapur, at Char Putla. Students have also attended cultural program named “Dnyan Bhasha May Marathi” at Hutatma Smruti Mandir Solapur.

▪ 5th March 2018 National Adventure Camp: Mr. Pavan Avdhani had participated in 5 days (5th to 9th March 2018) National Adventure Camp at Chikhaldara Dist. Amravati.

▪ 7th March 2018 State Level Residential Camp: Miss. Yogini Survase had participated in 7 days from 7th March 2018 to 13th March 2018 State Level Special Residential Camp to be held at Mhaskal Village, Tal. Kalyan, Dist. Thane. Organized by University of Mumbai NSS Unit and JSSP Arts, Commerce and Science Goveli NSS Unit.

▪ 12th March 2018 National Integration Camp: Mr. Akash Sonkawde had participated in 7 days (12-03-2018 to 18-03-2018) National Integration Camp 2017- 18 organised by Government of , Department of Youth Empowerment & Sports, Karnataka state NSS Cell, Bengaluru & NSS Regional Centre Govt, of NSS Cell, Karnatak University, Dharwad.
