January 10, 2016 Are you transmitting?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Next week, the Church throughout the world will be joining with all Christians in observing the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which will conclude on January 25, the Conversion of Saint Paul. The theme chosen for this world-wide observance is, "Called to proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord" (1 Peter 2:9). Saint Peter tells the early Church that by hearing God's call and receiving the power of salvation in Christ, they have become the People of God. This reality, common to all Christians, is what we celebrate in the Sacrament of Baptism, where we die to sin, in order to rise with Christ to a new life of grace and to serve oday, we learn about the baptism of Jesus. We need to speak the Word of God to others’, we need to teach as Jesus teaches us; and we need to serve others as we are transmitters of faith. As the Gospel tells us today we have been baptized “with the Holy Spirit and fire.” We must Most Reverend Michael F.
