Lunch consists of a starter, main dish and dessert. I am really enjoying the soups and fish at the restaurant! The food here is so fresh. 3:30-5:30pm: I usually make myself some tea and read my book, practice my Spanish or study. Sometimes I walk to a 8:00PM nearby shopping center, buy a coffee and relax in the cafe or outside in the plaza. One place called Café Paris has really tasty mini croissants. 5:30-7:30pm: I use this time to walk around Sabadell to run errands or just check out the town. I’ve made it to the main plaza a few times. It is so very beautiful! 8:00-9:30pm: Practice #2. We usually scrimmage an older men’s team or the 18-and-under boys. These practices are tough, but this is how we get better! Also the practice is so late. My bedtime at home is often in the middle of this practice time! 10:00-11:00pm: Dinner at the apartment with Clara and Chiara. We usually cook dinner in, but sometimes we go out. Eating dinner out is a real treat. We eat tapas style, so we get to share many small dishes. My favorite place is called The Green Spot—a modern vegetarian restaurant located in Barcelona, only about a 35-minute train ride from Sabadell. 9:30PM 26

LOB SHOTS SOCAL Continues Tradition of Holiday Generosity with 5th annual Adopt a Family Program Submitted by Lisa Gorlinski SOCAL Water Polo parent volunteer Michael photos courtesy SOCAL Water Polo Ann Pevehouse was working as a health aide at Thorman Elementary School in Tustin, CA, several years ago when she heard about several school families going through some tough times. Teachers shared stories about how some parents were unable to work and were struggling financially due to long-term illnesses or having to take care of a disabled child at home. Some of the children who came to visit Michael Ann in the Health office expressed that they didn’t expect to get any gifts for Christmas. Having a heart of gold, Michael Ann shared the idea of Tustin-based SOCAL Water Polo “adopting” some of these families for the holidays. Boxes for donations were brought to SOCAL practices for the athletes to drop off their donations, and the response from the SOCAL community was tremendous. Five years later the tradition continues as the project has grown to adopt more families.
