I won multiple national swimming records but unfortunately, I was unable to compete in the 1940 Summer Olympics because of the outbreak of World War II.

I trained in the same swimming pool that gold medal winner Johnny Weissmuller (Tarzan) trained.

I caught the attention of a Metro-Goldwin-Mayer executive and was offered a contract. I became known as the Million Dollar Mermaid in Hollywood.

I made a series of films known as ‘aqua musicals’. In 1949, I starred in Take Me Out To The Ball Game; a film that was well received and became a commercial success. The following year I made Neptune’s Daughter where I sang with Ricardo Montalban “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”.
