RE: Kindergarten–Seventh Grade Text Dependent Analysis Professional Learning Opportunity: Spring 2020
The Office of Standards and Learning in collaboration with the Office of Assessment will offer a free, hybrid professional learning opportunity designed to focus on literacy strategies that guide students to closely read text for analysis in order to communicate effectively. The series is for teachers, and instructional/literacy/transformation coaches.
Participation in this series will afford attendees the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the South Carolina College and Career-Ready Standards for English Language Arts through the following:
• experiencing the process of intentional reading within text; • developing analytical skills beyond the text; • studying of student work to plan progressions of learning; and • understanding the assessment of a Text Dependent Analysis.
Throughout this series, participants will refine their practice through ongoing virtual and face-to- face sessions designed to support their application of new knowledge in the classroom and their evaluation of its impact on student learning.
Participants must participate in all face-to-face and virtual meetings. Certificates of completion for 28 hours will be issued to participants who meet all expectations of the professional learning opportunity.
