Downloading OverDrive to your Kobo eReader (Mini, Touch, Glo, or Aura HD)

Step 1: Connect your Kobo eReader to your personal computer using the USB cord that came with it. You can download and install the Kobo Desktop software either automatically or by going to www.kobosetup.com. You will then need to register an account with Kobo to use your eReader.

Step 2: Download and install the software to your computer. For a step-by-step guide on how do to this, go to www.lethlib.ca/sites/default/files/ADE Guide.. You will then need to authorize your computer with an Adobe ID. For a step-by-step guide on how do to this, go to www.lethlib.ca/sites/default/files/AdobeID.pdf. You can also get these guides from Information Services.

Step 3: When you have completed the above steps, go to the library’s website at www.lethlib.ca to download eBooks from the Chinook Arch OverDrive collection. Click on “Downloadable ” to get started.

Step 4: The OverDrive Chinook Arch collection (http://downloads.chinookarch.ca) will load. Search for an you would like to read by adding search words to the Search box, clicking on one of the categories, or clicking “Advanced Search”.

Step 5: Find an eBook that you would like to check out. If it is immediately available, the corner icon will be dark grey. Click on “Borrow” to check out the eBook. If the corner icon is a light shade of grey, this indicates all copies are currently checked out. You may place unavailable items on hold. Step 6: You will be directed the Sign In page. Type in your library card number (14 digits, without spaces) and PIN. Click the “Sign In” button to proceed.

Step 7: You will be taken to your Bookshelf page, which displays all of the items you have checked out. Click on the “Download” button to download the eBook license file (.acsm).

Step 8: Open the eBook license file, which will be named Your Title.acsm, and the eBook will begin to download in Adobe Digital Editions.

Step 9: Once the eBook has finished downloading, it will open in Adobe Digital Editions. You may begin reading the eBook on your computer.

Step 10: You can click on the “ Library” button to view your complete list of eBooks and to manage your collection of eBooks. Downloading OverDrive eBooks to your Kobo eReader (Mini, Touch, Glo, or Aura HD)

Step 11: Connect your Kobo eReader to your computer with its USB cord. When the eReader is detected, tap the “CONNECT” button on your eReader’s screen.

Step 12: The Kobo will be listed under “Devices” on the left side of Adobe Digital Editions.

Step 13: The first time you connect your eReader, you will need to authorize it with your Adobe ID. To register your device with your Adobe ID, click the button and then click on “Authorize Device…”.

Step 14: Choose the Adobe ID you wish to use to authorize your device with and click the “Authorize Device” button. Downloading OverDrive eBooks to your Kobo eReader (Mini, Touch, Glo, or Aura HD)

Step 15: Adobe Digital Editions will notify you that your device has been successfully authorized. Click the “OK” button to continue.

Step 16: Click on “All Items” to return to the complete list of your eBooks.

Step 17: To transfer your downloaded eBook, click on the cover and drag and drop the selected eBook onto your Kobo eReader.

Step 18: The Copying to Device screen will appear and your eBook will be transferred.

Step 19: You may now begin reading your eBook on your eReader by ejecting the device and disconnecting the USB cable. Enjoy reading your eBooks!

Step 20: If you finish an eBook early, you can return the item to the collection to make it available for other patrons. To return your eBook early, right click on the title in Adobe Digital Editions, and click on the “Return Borrowed Item” button.
