Anima Christi Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me. Within Thy wounds hide me. Separated from Thee let me never be. From the malignant enemy, defend me. At the hour of death, call me. And close to Thee bid me. That with Thy I may be Praising Thee, forever and ever. Amen.

This is great news. “St. Patrick's has been selected as the Fremont Area Chamber Member of the Month for June 2020! The Fremont Chamber of Commerce presents this program in recognition of businesses or organizations that uphold the mission and values of the Chamber and have demonstrated their involvement in the community. “St. Patrick’s Catholic Church has provided leadership and direction to our community as we have experienced the unprecedented challenges of historic flooding as well as the COVID19 pandemic. Thank you for providing valuable resources and helping us navigate these difficult paths. Your commitment to our community has been evident in the many ways you have reached out to those who have been impacted by the trauma. You have taken measures to provide food and support for those most vulnerable and have inspired many in our community to play to their strengths and pick up the slack wherever needed. These contributions are essential to those struggling during these exhausting and frightening events. “Our members are our biggest asset, and we are proud to take this opportunity to thank you for your commitment to the mission and goals of the Fremont Area Chamber. We are grateful for all you contribute to our culture and our community. Thank you for offering grace and peace during this extraordinary time.” By the grace of God, your and generosity, and hard work, we are making great strides in becoming more financially sound. We need you to sign up for Flocknote if you have not already done so you can stay better informed. We also need you to sign up for WeShare and set up your weekly tithe to the parish or school. We are asking that each family give $5 more per week than you are now. Soon you will receive a parish census that will help us assure our contact information for you is correct. St. Patrick Parish Festival: we are still planning on having our festival on August 22/23 with the raffles. Our plans are fluid at this point as the protocol from Three Rivers changes a bit from weektoweek and we plan to be in compliance with their recommendations. We plan to have the raffles live streamed in the same fashion as we have been for the Mass. We have spoken to other schools who have had to change their events from inperson to a virtual gathering and they have done as well as expected if not better. More information will be sent to you in the first part of July. Challenge: Our goal is to sell 20,000 raffle tickets for the car donated to us from the Diers family. This is a high goal but attainable. Car raffle tickets are just $5 each. If each registered family bought 10 we could raise $105,000 from just the car raffle. Can you buy 10 and can you sell 10? Can you buy 10 from someone you love? Let’s make this happen. We can do this! Reverend Walter L. Nolte “Omnia Per Mariam”

Overcoming sadness with st. Third Remedy with Aquinas: Healthy Pleasure Last week St. Thomas mentioned that “every pleasure assuages sorrow.” It is important to realize what he is talking about. What St. Thomas is not talking about is the pleasure that we may receive from committing sin. Sin, on some level, is pleasurable for us, otherwise we would not do it! However, sin drags us deeper into despair and shame. St. Thomas points us to the reality that God, in his goodness, has filled this world with many legitimate pleasures, spiritual and non spiritual. During pain and sorrow God will often send consoling pleasures, which should be appreciated and savored. It is good to receive those gifts. However, many times when we lose someone dear to us, it may not “feel right” to enjoy laughing with friends or going to a movie. We almost feel guilty about it. While it is important to have a time of mourning and experience our grief, a part of the grieving process is moving through the grief, not staying in it. This time of mourning is different for everyone, but ultimately God wants to bring us joy, even in the pain.

What is a vocation? The word vocation comes from the Latin word “Vocare”, which means “to call.” This calling is really a destiny towards sainthood. Sainthood is not only about doing amazing things, but rather becoming the person that God is calling you to be, and from that identity living out a particular mission with God. Saint Highlight Friday following the second Sunday after Pentecost - solemnity of the most sacred heart of jesus

“The veneration of the Sacred Heart is a summary of all our religion and, moreover, a guide to a more perfect life. It more easily leads our minds to know Christ the Lord intimately and more effectively turns our hearts to love him more ardently and to imitate Him more perfectly” ( Pius XI, 1928). So that is all you need to know. But wait, there’s more! The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus came from devotion to the humanity of Jesus, but it developed from the devotion to the Passion of Jesus and the Sacred Wounds. Many saints fostered this devotion, including St. , St. John Eudes, and the mystics St. Lutgarde, St. Mechtilde and St. Gertrude the Great. But the saint who promoted it in its modern form is St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. She had a vision of Jesus showing his heart in flamesN“a sign of his burning love for the souls He had ransomed with his sacrifice on the Cross.” With the help of the Jesuit, St. Claude de la Colombière, she fostered the devotion to the point where it was liturgically celebrated in 1670, established as a feast for the whole Church in 1856, and raised to the highest rank of solemnity in 1928. Since 2002, it is also a special Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests. That’s the theology and history, but what about its place in our hearts? Jesus’ Sacred Heart is a sign of his complete love for us. Further, the entire month of June is the Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This guides us away from the secular celebration of “Pride” month, pride being the worst of the seven deadly sins! Love is about humility, service, and sacrifice, all of which are shown through Jesus’ Sacred Heart.
