Signed Autograph Letter from Benjamin Disraeli, Lord Beaconsfield to [Sir Arthur] Helps, dated 21 Dec. 1871, inviting the recipient to dinner to meet “Odo Russell and Lady Emily”, tipped inside an odd volume I of the first edition of his novel Endymion (1880), clean and legible, good signature. *Russell had been appointed first British ambassador to the German Empire in the previous October; he was later created first Baron Ampthill; his wife was formerly Emily Villiers; Sir Arthur Helps was clerk of the Privy Council, a senior civil servant, and a successful essayist and man of letters.
