Health Last December, my extended family lost an important member to breast cancer. It was an enormous blow. The recently departed was none other than my first cousin, and beloved “sister from another mother”, Krista.
My father was a breast cancer surgeon and he regularly told us stories at the dinner table of the tough women he helped to battle cancer. It was more than disappointing that our family lost Krista so young.
Take it from the son of a surgeon: 1) speed is crucial (especially when a patient is younger when diagnosed), and 2) aggressive action is sadly sometimes required.
