O. 1548(I)/2019.—In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 156 of the Constitution, the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is pleased to re-constitute the National Economic Council as under:— (a) The Prime Minister Chairman (b) The Chief Ministers of the Provinces of Balochistan, the Khyber Members Pakhtunkhwa, the Punjab and Sindh (c) Four members nominated as under by the Prime Minister under Members paragraph (c) of clause (1) of Article 156 of the Constitution:— (i) Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue; (ii) Mr. Asad Umar, Minister for Planning, Development and Reform; (iii) Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Production and Investment; and (iv) Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms and Austerity. The following shall be invited to attend the meetings of the National Economic Council for all items on the agenda, namely:— (a) Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; (b) Prime Minister, Azad Jammu and Kashmir; (c) Chief Minister, Gilgit - Baltistan; (d) Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission; (e) Secretary, Finance Division; (f) Secretary, Economic Affairs Division; and (g) Secretary, Planning, Development and Reform Division. 3. Other Federal Secretaries, including Chief Secretaries of the Provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan shall on need basis attend the meetings of the National Economic Council by special invitation. 4. The meetings of the National Economic Council shall be convened in accordance with Article 156 of the Constitution read with rule 22 of the Rules of Business, 1973. 5. Also, the PM assured that his government was making all-out efforts to promote and protect business and investment in the country. During his day-long official visit to Karachi, the PM met with delegations of various trade associations, industrialists, provincial government officials, Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) representatives, Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) officials political party leaders etc and assured them to protect and promote the overall business environment in the country. In an interactive session with the managing committee members of Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) at the Governor''s House the PM promised full support to foreign investors in addressing their issues and also shared salient points of the government''s economic recovery strategy. "We are working on a clear path for recovery and that the benefit of the revised economic strategy will be visible during the next six to nine months" Imran said. The Prime Minister promised to unveil in the coming weeks a proper economic reform agenda showing a clear road map for taking the country out of the current economic crisis.     4th January, 2019 Pak-Turkey trade be taken to high level: Imran ANKARA: Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday said it was high time that Pakistan and Turkey should take their bilateral trade to a high level, citing Pakistan’s ideal geo-strategic location and its huge potential for investment in infrastructure and tourism. Addressing the Turkish businessmen at a business forum organised by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) here, the prime minister said that Pakistan was a virgin territory as a lot of trade areas had not yet been exploited and hardly five percent of total mineral reserves could yet be explored. TOBB is the highest legal entity in Turkey representing the private sector with 365 member associations from local chambers of commerce and industry. The prime minister is in Turkey on two-day official visit, at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Prior to landing in Turkish capital, he visited Turkish city of Konya where he visited the tomb of renowned jurists and Islamic scholar Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi and laid a wreath at the grave. He is accompanied by a high level delegation including Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Planning Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Advisor on Trade Abdul Razak Dawood and Special Assistant to PM Zulfikar Bukhari. The prime minister said huge reserves of oil, gas, copper and coal were yet unexplored. He said as Pakistan was undertaking huge connectivity projects under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the issue of huge distance impeding Pak-Turkish trade would be resolved.
