Thought for the Week

Happy Fathers Day to all of our Dads and Granddads! You have shaped our lives, and we ask the Lord to bless you on this day of celebration of You! Thank you, and God Bless you!

The Eucharist

Jesus, we are so happy that we can receive You again in the Most Blessed Sacrament. It has been too long! We are so grateful!!

Words from Pope Francis

“Faith is strengthened when it is given to others.”

Respect Life Prayer

Lord, in these difficult times we ask that You guide our country—and each of us— as we try to live the gospel message that tells us that each and every one of us has been created in Your image.

A Scripture to Ponder…..

“Be anxious for nothing. In all things, with prayer and thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God, and the peace that passes all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7) June 21, 2020 The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Mark Page 9

Just a Thought…. A Little Smile for Fathers Day

“Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit, and we will be created, and You will renew the face of the earth.” (There is a song that our Contemporary Ensemble sings that is so touching:) “Come, Lord Jesus, come Come and fill our hearts with Your love. Hold us tight, Lord hold us tight— Come, Lord, Jesus, Come!

“Cut-ups”

Thank you, cut-ups, for all you have done during the past few months . We have all been “sheltered in place”, but you have continued to make masks, dresses, and shorts. You are the best! With God’s grace, we will able to get back together soon! June 21, 2020 The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Mark Page 10

FAITH FORMATION

As we began our public celebrations of our daily Masses last week, the joy of those attending was clearly evident. Being able to gather with our faith community and receive the Eucharist brought great comfort to all and a sign of hope as our prayers continued for all affected in so many ways during this time in our nation. We are looking forward to seeing more of our parishioners this Saturday and Sunday as our weekend Masses return. Father Len asked each of us to reach out to those in our ministries and see if they would be willing to assist at our Masses. The response was tremendous and we extend our thanks to all who came forward. What a perfect weekend for our Masses to begin again. As our families celebrate Father’s Day and honor all those who have devoted their lives to their children and grandchil- dren, we are reminded of the unconditional love which God, our loving Father, has for each and every one of us. May our coming together again at the celebration of the Eucharist strengthen our bond as a parish family, and move us to extend an invitation to all we encounter.

Our Youth Ministry volunteers met last week for prayer, sharing and planning. We are so grateful to Marie Rhinehardt, John Searing, Barbara Sevthalis and Mary Anne Scherl for so generously sharing their faith and time with the young people of our parish. An invitation went out to the members of our Youth group to join us on Monday, June 22 at 6:30 when we gather through ZOOM.

Although the last few months the continued Faith Formation of the parish’s children and teens was done remotely, our volunteer catechists certainly played a major role in passing on our faith to the young people of our parish. Please join us in prayer for the following parishioners who answered the call to be a catechist: Gretchen Alessi, Marlene Baumeister, Susan Biscardi, Kellie Conlon, Lisa Garrant, Jessica Jacobs, Lisa Lacer- enza, Jennifer Laieta, Vanessa Logan, Denise Mingoia, Gina Mingoia, Ann Marie Mistretta, Christine Mulvey, Alice Murphy, Tania Parrinello, Kim Sabino, Michael Sabino, Rocco Sabino and Phyllis Sweet. We will be meeting soon to join in prayer and to discuss our plans for the 2020-21 Catechetical Year. We look forward to this amazing group’s continued participation in this vital ministry. I would love to speak with anyone who may be reflecting on joining our group.

Another sign of hope and the Lord’s presence occurred this weekend. As Father Len informed me, we could now begin to reschedule our Baptisms. Two families presented their children for the sacrament and we were so happy to celebrate their child’s entry into our faith. We are continuing to plan for and look forward to the re- scheduling of our First Communions and the celebration of the sacrament of Confirmation in the fall. Please continue to pray for all of the children, teens and their families during this very special time in their faith journeys.

In the peace of Christ, Lynn Fein Director of Faith Formation June 21, 2020 The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Mark Page 11
