GOOD VIBRATIONS Issue 1-November 2016 “All the news that’s good, we print!”

Introducing the first newsletter derived solely from “good news” information around TRP! We are hoping to publish quarterly, but of course this will depend on the response. If your name has been left out of any parts of this issue, please accept my apology. I included what I received and respected the privacy of things I have heard but were not submitted. The HOA has informed me that the “official” newcomer list is not a public document so those people who have moved in who would like to be mentioned in future issues, please email me (Nancy Goldmark) directly at [email protected]. Nancy Jenkins ([email protected]) is the keeper of the TRP contact list. Any resident or property owner who needs a copy of it or needs to be added/amended, please contact her. New residents or property owners who would like access to the Residents of TRP Facebook page need to ask a neighbor who is on it already to add their name to it. Janet DePrince ([email protected]) will be happy to add any of the new ladies in the community to the ladies night email list. Ladies night is every other Monday night at a local restaurant, someone’s home or pot luck at the clubhouse. The men meet every Thursday at the clubhouse BYOB!

Congratulations to all our superb riders! TRP is proud to have many accomplished equestrians and horses living among us, who have competed successfully this past summer. These include Kathy Viele, Marilyn Johnson and Lyn Langford at Regionals. Debbie Pearson was National Champion on JK Heiristocracy in the 40 & over Arab/ English pleasure division!Blair and Ted Cummings had all four horses attend the Quarter Horse Congress in Ohio. Macs Good N Ready (“Yogi) was shown by a young girl and placed 15th in Western Pleasure and 16th in Horsemanship. Ted’s horse Hallowed Be (“Mick”) won a championship in sorting while their new mare Scoot to Smoke (“Grace”) won a Reserve championship in sorting. Blair’s sorting horse High Rollin Sug (“Gambler”) was Champion in sorting. All three sorting horses went on to win 6 other medals! Gambler also won 2 gold medals and a silver at the Special Olympics in Georgia, ridden by a very special young girl, Mally Flowers. Gambler is headed to AQHA World Show in mid-November. Good luck! JC Fitzgerald’s EMR StarCatcher (“Catcher”) won both his classes at Stableview schooling show on November 11th, T-3 with a 72% and his first First level class ever with a 66%! Congratulations to JC and Catcher! Nancy Singer on “Zucchini” won her First level Test 3 class with a score of 68.235! Great job! Heard through the grapevine that Kathy Viele has earned her silver medal which is awesome! Nelda Wert, who has been working hard on her own and with her trainer (Lynn Coates-Holmes) to get her “naughty pony” on the same page she’s on, succeeded st the Vista Derby-cross to win a 6th place ribbon with no jumping faults! She then went on to their first horse trial and ended with no jumping faults but some time penalties which gave them 4th place! She had Ellen Fox grooming for her and a whole slew of TRP cheerers on the sidelines! Congratulations Nelda….but we’re not sorry that you got time faults! :-)

Welcome to Ray and Eileen Prussman who moved onto Dasher Circle on August 2nd and to Gene Metto and Emily Marsh who now live on Hiwassee Run. They moved here from South Hampton, NH and have 4 horses (Fuller, Alex, Cassie and Dully), mindonkey Earl Grey dog Chloe and cat Otis. We’re also glad to have new resident Kristen Paysinger who is now living on Snaffle Drive. Welcome to all!

Some people are just great…. and that includes our neighbor Christy Douglas. The Douglas family has lived on Hiwassee Run for 7 1/2 years. In mid-November Christy is leaving a mission trip with ten members of her church, Talatha Baptist, to Nicaragua. Her way of giving thanks this Thanksgiving is to travel to “Pineapples for Peace” which is a ministry and plantation in the mountains near Managua. The ministry is involved in giving jobs to locals in a country with a 70-80% unemployment rate and extreme poverty. This trip they will be building a church out of blocks for a local pastor and be of service in any other ways they can. Can’t think of a better person to bring help and relief to these people than Christy! We wish you a safe and wonderful experience! And are you all aware that Christy was a pilot for many years for Alaska Airlines?? She has thousands of hours flying heavy aircraft as well as being an accomplished aerobatic flyer! Amazing!

Local Wildlife Tidbits has to include the Southern Fox Squirrel! They are the most variably colored squirrels in the world. Their appearance is characterized by a facial mask, white patches on their noses, paws and ear tips. They are twice as large as the typical grey squirrels that most of us are familiar with. They live an average of 3-4 years in mature pine-hardwood forests. They are considered opportunistic feeders and will eat pine seed, acorns, floer buds, roots, fungi, bird eggs and insects. The two peak breeding seasons are late winter and late summer and usually have litters of 2-3 young. What is NOT included in most information about them is that they wait on the paddock fences like statues just until your horse gets next to them and then jump off! It seems to be a pre-planned behavior!!!

Spotlight on two TRP residents Janet Fram and her husband Borge Hermann moved from Vermont to TRP. They have family spread all over the world including Poland, Denmark, Ireland, Thailand and France. Their menagerie includes their genius pinto 11 yo Icelandic mare Julia, an 18 yo dark bay Icelandic mare Gydja and their new 7yo Chocolate Rocky Mountain 7 yo mare Beauty! Barn cats include Squeaky and Moss. Her hobbies include rug hooking and theorem painting. Favorite restaurant in the area Is Rose Hill. She loves riding the trail by the creek, listening to her favorite music which is the sounds of nature and loves all her “wonderful neighbors“ here at TRP. Jody Blinder arrived in TRP from Cranford, NJ in July 2007 after many years working in the sports and entertainment world. She was marketing director for the racetrack at the Meadowlands in NJ for 12 years and then Operations manager of Continental Airlines arena in the complex for 4 years. After a move to Jacksonville, FL she played an integral role in opening their new arena and making SuperBowl XXXIX a reality! She loves hiking, riding and being outdoors with her significant other, Mike Wheeler along with gardening and needlepoint. No horses at the moment but she does lots of riding at the request of her friends and neighbors. Favorite dining places include Casa Bella, Malia’s, Pizza Joint and Brew Pub. Loves classic rock and roll especially the ‘70s era. Favorite movie? “Princess Bride”! Thanks Jody for your annual S’mores party!

Special Thanks to Janet and Borge for carving out new trails in Phase 7 through the wilderness, Jody for her S’mores party, Charlotte for her fabulous over the top homemade pizza ladies night, and Wayne Raiford for the lovely Opening party for the beautiful new Activity and Fitness Center!
