RENATE STRASSER, Chief Underwriting Officer Specialty* Since 2016, Renate Strasser has been Chief Executive Officer of NewRe, a carrier of Munich Re Group. In her current role, she is responsible for the entire legal entity, including traditional P&C reinsurance business and structured reinsurance solutions. Strasser spent six years as an Assistant Professor for Corporate Finance at the University of Klagenfurt, before joining the Munich Re Group in 2004 as a pricing expert for Aviation. From 2007 onwards, she took over the role of Head of Aviation Facultative, where she was responsible for the worldwide portfolio. Strasser holds an MBA from the University of Graz (Austria) and a PhD in Business Administration/Corporate Finance from the University of Klagenfurt (Austria). TONY BUCKLE, Chief Underwriting Officer Corporate* Tony Buckle started his career in financial consulting with Andersen, before moving into the insurance sector with GE Capital. He has subsequently held senior underwriting and portfolio management positions both in reinsurance (Swiss Re, GE Frankona) and corporate insurance (Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, RSA and AXA XL), most recently as Chief Underwriting Officer International P&C at AXA XL, based in Zurich. Buckle is a graduate of Cambridge University and holds an MPhil from the University of London as well as an MBA from Instituto de Estudies Superiores de la Empresa (IESE) in Barcelona, Spain. NEW REGIONAL MANAGING DIRECTORS ALFREDO ALONSO REGIONAL MANAGING DIRECTOR, REGIONAL UNIT LONDON & NORDICS Subject to regulatory approval, Alfredo Alonso will head the AGCS Regional Unit London, including UK and Nordics. He moves to AGCS from Bermudian insurer ArgoGlobal where he was Head of Europe/Middle East & Chief Underwriting Officer for Europe. Before that, he had worked eight years in chief underwriting roles in emerging markets and UK for RSA Group, most recently as Group Casualty Director. Alonso began his career at Winterthur Insurance in its claims department, before joining Winterthur International as a senior casualty underwriter. He went on to work at Zurich Financial Services, where he served for 12 years in increasingly senior underwriting roles including being appointed Chief Underwriting Officer for Middle East and Africa. He holds an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and Vlerick Leuven in Belgium. CORINNE CIPIÈRE REGIONAL MANAGING DIRECTOR, REGIONAL UNIT MEDITERRANEAN & AFRICA Corinne Cipière will oversee AGCS’ business in the Mediterranean markets such as France, Italy or Greece, Benelux and African markets. She was appointed Country Manager of AGCS for France and Head of Market Management for AGCS’ Mediterranean Region in 2016. She was previously Managing Director of RSA France and prior to that worked for Marsh since 2002 in several roles, including as an advisor to its French CEO, Change Management Consultant, Head of Strategy, Marketing and Communication, and Executive Committee member. She is a graduate of the École Polytechnique in France and holds a Masters of Science from the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States. NUNO ANTUNES REGIONAL MANAGING DIRECTOR, REGIONAL UNIT IBERO/LATAM Subject to regulatory approval, Nuno Antunes will lead the new ‘Ibero/Latam’ Regional Unit of AGCS which unites Spain, Portugal and South American markets. He joins from AIG where he was part of the senior leadership team for AIG Multinational, leading a UK-based team fully dedicated to multinational programs and captive fronting. Originally joining AIG in 2007 as a profit center manager for Financial Lines in Portugal, since that time he has held a variety of leadership positions with AIG, including London-based roles as EMEA Head of Multinational, leading the global risk solutions division and also general manager of AIG’s Property & Casualty operations in Portugal. He speaks English, French, Spanish and Portuguese and graduated in Aeronautical Engineering at Universidade da Beira Interior in Portugal. NEW GLOBAL FUNCTIONS PATRICK THIELS GLOBAL HEAD OF DISTRIBUTION Patrick Thiels will lead the new Global Distribution function including the Industry Solutions practice reporting to Chief Regions and Markets Officer Henning Haagen. Thiels currently oversees AGCS’ Mediterranean region as a Regional CEO since 2013. He joined AGCS from HDI Gerling where, prior to taking up a role as CEO in Belgium and Luxembourg in 2006, he was Managing Director of Gerling-Konzern in Belgium from 2001. He is a Belgian national with a 35 year career in insurance and management, and has extensive experience in leading and setting up new strategic business units and in managing operational companies across national boundaries. With a first university degree in Economics, Accountancy and IT, he also studied HR management and insurance management as a postgraduate. ERIKA CUBOVA GLOBAL HEAD OF PROCESS MANAGEMENT Erika Cubova will be responsible for end-to-end process architecture, improvement and simplification through one globally coordinated approach. Reporting to AGCS Chief Operating Officer Bettina Dietsche, she moves into her new role from AGCS’ Global Claims team. Since 2016 she served as Global Head of Portfolio Intelligence & Coordination, being responsible for claims analytics and predictive modeling, claims digitalization and claims portfolio monitoring. She has been with Allianz since 2003, holding various management positions in AGCS Actuarial and Claims. She holds a Master in Actuarial Science from University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia. GUY MONEY GLOBAL HEAD OF PRODUCT In his new AGCS role, Guy Money will own and drive product harmonization and simplification globally, based on a core global product ‘library’. He will report to AGCS Chief Underwriting Officer Corporate Tony Buckle. He joins from AXA, where since 2016 he has overseen General Liability, Professional Liability and Financial Lines across AXA Group, most recently as Group Head of Liability lines and was previously Global Chief Underwriting Officer of Liability & Environmental lines for AXA Corporate Solutions business. Guy was also Chief Underwriting Officer for Allied World’s Asia Pacific division post acquisition of RSA’s Asia businesses and held senior management positions across Asia and the Middle East with RSA. From 2007 to 2013 Guy worked in the UK and Europe for RSA in several increasingly senior underwriting roles. He graduated in Politics at the University of Leeds. NIGEL LEPPITT GLOBAL HEAD OF MULTINATIONAL Nigel Leppitt will lead the Allianz Multinational team reporting to AGCS Chief Operating Officer Bettina Dietsche. Currently Chief Transformation Officer, Nigel Leppitt joined AGCS in 2011 as Global Head of Organization and Business Transformation where he led AGCS’s digital investment strategy and managed the delivery of a multi-year investment program. In this role he was responsible for the global branch integration, successful integration of the FFIC commercial business, the rollout of various global platforms and the set-up of a global transformation unit to deliver the organization´s strategy. Previously, he held several positions focusing on digital transformation and business optimization for UK and US based global companies in the industrial, technology, consulting and financial services sectors. He has degrees in Engineering, Management Sciences, HR Strategy and Change Management.
