Dear Parents / Guardians: I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back to school. We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. I am looking forward to an exciting and rewarding school year. This fall promises to bring with it many changes and some new challenges. Grade seven is an important step in a student's transition from elementary school to high school. It will require teamwork and organization to develop your child's independence-- all essential ingredients of a successful year. Our goal is to help students become successful and confident learners as they learn to capitalize on their strengths in a stimulating and creative environment. We look forward to working together with you to meet this goal. Classes at LDH will be operating on a five day schedule. Your child has been given a copy of the schedule today. http://www.angelfire.com/ego/mr.f/Misc/classtimetabler7f.docx

You will notice that not all classes are taught in the homeroom. At the intermediate level we have a partial rotary schedule to gradually introduce your child to the concept used in high schools. For our class (R7F), the students will have French, Music, Drama, PE, Health and Dance taught by other teachers. Please feel free to send in a short note with your child. If there's anything that you would like us to know about your child, we are eager to listen! Any information regarding his/her dislikes/likes and how you view him/her as a learner would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns it is best to email me.

Our Class web site is: “Mr. Fitch’s World” http://www.angelfire.com/ego/mr.f/ On the web site, lots of useful info & assignments are available. This includes Impt. Dates for Homework, guide sheets for projects, online tests & examples of student projects. Considerable class material is available on this site and I recommend you regularly review it with your child.

Our Test Center is at http://www.angelfire.com/ego/mr.f/SubjectLinks/quizcenter/main1.html Impt. Dates: http://www.angelfire.com/ego/mr.f/Misc/news.html This includes our class Google Calendar. Email may be sent to me at: [email protected]

Your child will be given a Login & Password to access their OCDSB Google Docs account to work online. I’ve asked them to write this in their agenda.

To consolidate their learning students with internet access are to spend ½ an hour each on their https://www.prodigygame.com (math practice) and www.readtheory.org (Language Arts) account every week. Throughout the year I ask that students have their folks review their planner often with them to help follow their progress. We are looking forward to a great year! Sincerely,

Dave Fitch
