Now, you should have 2 different blogs attached to your account. One that belongs to everyone (Mrs Lewis World) and now your own.

Setting the Blog UP:

  • Click on “Presentation” tochoose a background. You MUST choose a background that shows a list of pages at the top. This way you can easily navigate between pages from the Home page. Watch demonstration.
  • Some tools already pop up on the side. One you would want to know is titled, “Site Admin”Clicking on this will get you back into EDIT mode from viewing your blog.

Creating the Intro Letter:

  • The first task is to “WRITE” a POST. You will TITLE it: DEAR READER. The text box is where you write your letter to the reader telling them who you are as a writer, how you’ve changed, what your strengths are, what your weaknesses are and what your goals are for the future. Use the icons to insert websites, pictures or anything else you want to put on the front page. If you post a picture of yourself, you must have your parents sign a permission form that your face can be on the Internet.
  • At the end of your letter please insert the following text: Please read my best work of the year by clicking on the titles at the top of the page. Enjoy!
  • When you are done, click the PUBLISH square.
  • This is the first page of your BLOG! It introduces the reader and tells them what they will find in your blog.

Creating a Post to send you to Mrs. Lewis’ Blog:

  • Click on “Write Post”. This time Label it: Mrs. Lewis World. In the text box type: If you’d like to read other student’s work, please click on the link below! Be sure to then highlight the web address, click on the link icon and then make it a direct link to my Page so you can easily view other people’s work.

Creating a new page, one for each written piece

you’ve chosen:

  • Choose “Write Page” next to the “Write Post.” Under Page Title, you will write the TITLE of the first piece you’ve chosen to represent you as a writer. In the text box you are to then write a paragraph introducing the work you are going to share, telling us about the piece, what you like and don’t like about the piece and why you chose it.
  • Hit the Return a bit to go down the page and then RETYPE or copy and paste your actual paper! Be sure it is spell checked. You should revise your paper the best you can, make revisions I’ve suggested and make it the best it can be. Feel free to upload and pictures you like, again with proper permission. Click Publish when you are done.
  • You will create THREE 3 pages, one for each piece of writing. You will have in intro paragraph for each writing and you will then share the actual writing with us.

Other fun stuff:

  • “Options” tab. Click on this tab and then choose General. You can change the Tagline that appears under your name at the top to anything appropriate. Also, click on the box that says users must be registered to comment.
  • The PLUG INS choice at the top has other features you can read about and add to your blog.
  • Under the presentation choice at the top, you have two choices in the sub menu: Themes and Widgets. You already know about Themes ‘cause you chose one. If you click on Widgets, you can add more fun things to the sidebars of your blog. BUT you DON’T want to lose what you already have, so be very careful.
  • Blog Avatar is also located under the “Options” tab. AGAIN, with a permission slip, you may upload a picture.
  • Open up a new tab and go to: This is a site that can help you add more features and get the most out of your blog. You can search for topics or sift through the topics already there.
  • If you want to bring your headphones to watch the tutorials on this site or listen to music quietly…feel free.
  • “Blog roll” is where you can add a list of websites you recommend others to visit.
