Main Purpose of Role

·  The role of Operations Manager (South) is to ensure efficient and high quality clinical service for all contracts outside the North East.

·  To personally deliver a quality clinical service meeting the clinical and commercial needs of these contracts

·  To provide leadership and motivation to the team to facilitate the achievement of the regions’ objectives and targets.

·  With support from HR, recruit, induct, manage and develop personnel required for the contract service delivery.

·  To ensure the appropriate policies and procedures are in place to comply with all business practice requirements, and where appropriate any Professional, legislative and statutory requirements.

·  To manage and support the team leaders to achieve their goals and meet their needs.

·  Delivery of business KPI’s for the South contracts

·  Work with other members of the Community Services division to create and maintain an appropriate operational framework for the delivery of agreed levels of clinical competency for all personnel to ensure we meet the standards as set by our own Governance Groups and the wider professional bodies.

·  To provide advice, recommendations and reports to Senior Management, in relation to the region’s performance and developments.

·  To achieve budgeted contract revenue and profit targets in conjunction with Head of Operations (CS)

·  To develop and promote a positive and dynamic image and culture to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Tasks

Management

·  Provide the operational framework for the successful delivery of the services outside the North East

·  Provide the operational leadership for all members of the team and work with the Clinical Manager on improvements, as appropriate.

·  Hold agreed review meetings with team leaders and wider management meetings in line with meeting framework.

·  Work with Head of Operations (CS) on strategy and key objectives for services outside the North East.

·  In conjunction with Head of Operations (CS) hold regular reviews with relevant PCT’s to review performance and delivery of service

·  Working with Marketing manager on growing the number of referrals into the various services

·  Management of personnel to ensure meet contract needs and overall workforce planning requirements

·  Conduct 6 monthly IPR’s and regular review of personal objectives for direct reports. Ensure the necessary level of clinical supervision is planned and undertaken for all clinical team members (inc GPwSIs / Consultants) to maintain safe and confident service clinical service delivery.

·  Ensure that all members of the team are following company standards regarding clinical and information governance, including the accurate input of patient data and PCT KPI requirements

·  Ensure all staff performance issues are dealt with professionally, supportively but in a timely and effective manner.

·  Ensure that all team members are fully aware of the commercial needs of the contracts

Clinical Care

·  To utilise musculoskeletal expertise to function as an experienced musculoskeletal Physiotherapist managing a clinical caseload within the services

·  To conduct all clinical interventions and related actions in line with relevant professional standards, such as ESPIOG, CSP, and HPC, as well as Connect standards and policies and where applicable, contract parameters.

·  To demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and to maintain a record of such activity, in line with recommendations of CSP and HPC

·  To contribute as required to internal and external educational initiatives and lecture programme

Key Performance Measures

·  Staff meeting agreed clinical competency standards

·  Team performance, competence and development

·  Delivery of agreed operational KPI’s in contracts

·  Delivery of budgeted revenue and profit targets for contracts.

·  Patient satisfaction measures for services

·  Ensure that staff conform to Connect Clinical and Information Governance standards

Personal Profile

The role of Operations Manager (South) is fundamentally about the consistent delivery of a quality clinical service and meeting the financial and operational targets of the contracts outside the North East.

To achieve this, the Operations Manager (South) will need to demonstrate motivational leadership of their teams, and sound effective management strategies. They will need to be highly self motivated and achievement orientated.

The Operations Manager (South) will need to be organised, consistent and lead by example. Attention to detail, personal appearance and management style will be factors influencing success. Expected to be positive, constructive and approachable and carry out tasks with fairness and integrity.

They must demonstrate clinical competence in parallel with a strong commercial focus and commitment to delivering on KPIs and financial performance targets. This is a pro-active position and the holder will need to achieve against a backdrop of a changing work environment and commercial pressure.

Excellent communication skills, a strong customer focus and a commitment to the development of quality and service as a market differential and business ethos are also essential.
