Quality Technician

Reports to: Corporate Quality Supervisor

Department: Quality Assurance

Classification: Exempt

Job Summary

The overall responsibility of this position is to identify and drive continuous process and product improvements to satisfy customer expectations and to lend technical assistance to all departments within the company, as needed. Additional responsibilities include evaluating and reporting on the compliance and effectiveness of inspection and quality processes.

Job Experience

1.  Experienced with ISO9001-2008, ISO 13485, IPC620, J-Std., ANSI specs..

2.  Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.

3.  Working knowledge of cables, harness wiring, and box builds.

4.  Experienced in root cause / corrective action methodology.

5.  Experienced in setting up and inspecting parts to customer prints and associated document for conformity to specified tolerances, utilizing standard inspection equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, Cirris testers.

6.  Background in working with customers and suppliers.

7.  Excellent computer skills in all Windows applications – Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio,

8.  Experienced in using ERP system, knowledge of Epicor a plus.

9.  Knowledgeable of component test methods.

10.  Knowledgeable of ESD applications and protocols.

Essential Functions

This position may include but not be limited to the following duties:

1.  Develop inspection and test protocols, and fixtures.

2.  Administer Equipment Calibration Program.

3.  Create and distribute Monthly Performance Metrics (Business Activity Queries)

4.  Initiate and drive root cause analysis and corrective action processes.

5.  Assist with Customer RMA disposition.

6.  Provide technical assistance to production and quality groups, evaluating and reporting on the compliance and effectiveness of their processes.

7.  Assist in ISO auditing activities.

8.  Identify process improvements to resolve hardware, procedure and other process related issues

9.  Perform First Article Inspection, Receiving Inspection, In-Process Inspection and Final Inspection.

10.  Create NCR's on discrepant material/parts.

11.  Ability to work with production personnel to maximize the quality of products and resolve quality related issues during first article and in-process inspection.

12.  Must be able to read and interpret blue prints with mechanical tolerances.

13.  Understanding of electronics (circuits), maintenance of equipment and repair.

14.  Work from board schematics, assembly drawings, diagrams, written, or verbal descriptions or defined test plans to perform test/debug and design verification functions

15.  Perform testing of components and assemblies, and demonstrate the ability to maintain accurate test configurations and calibration of test setups and generate reports from gathered data

16.  Assist Responsible and Test engineering in the development and validation of new and existing circuitry, cables/harnesses, load boxes, fixtures, test racks, test procedures and other documentation

17.  Work any shift on a flexible schedule. Working overtime is required

Minimum Requirements

1.  3 -5 years experience in electronic, electrical and/or wiring harness design.

2.  Strong decision making skills, with a drive to proactively obtain complete and accurate information.

3.  A self starter with project management skills.

4.  Ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams.

5.  Ability to create reports and documentation.

8.  Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization.

9.  Works well in team environment with minimal supervision.

Desired Skills
