Agenda Adoption

The Richland One Middle College board meeting was called to order at 8:34 a.m. A motion was made by Board Member, Dr. Diane Carr to add board officer elections to the agenda after board member installation. The motion was seconded by Board Member, Tara Holman and carried by all Board Members.

A motion was made by Board Member, Dr. Diane Carr to approve the agenda. The motion was seconded by Board Member, Mrs. Tara Holman and carried by all Board Members.

Approval of Minutes

Board Member, Dr. Diane Carr motioned to accept the November 15, 2016 minutes. The motion was seconded by Board Member, Dr. Jennifer Coleman and carried by all Board Members.

Monthly Financial Statement

Tracy Moser presented the monthly financial statement prepared by Kelley-Moser Consulting via conference call. She informed the board that the 45th day student count report should be updated by January 2017. ROMC currently has 3 students receiving homebound services, therefore, a line item was added to the report for homebound services and social security. Due to the homebound services not being included in the original budget, a small portion of the EFA funds will be used, but will balance out at the end of the year. Board Member, Dr. Diane Carr motioned to accept the October 2016 financial statement. The motion was seconded by Board Member, Ms. Tara Holman and carried by all Board Members.

OUTGOING BOARD MEMBER PRESENTATION

Dr. Javis presented outgoing board member, Mr. Kerry Abel, with a plaque for his commitment to the school’s vision while serving on the ROMC Board.

BOARD MEMBER INSTALLATION

The following individuals were installed as ROMC Board Members:

BOARD OFFICER ELECTIONS

Dean’s Corner

Dr. Javis presented the following:

ROMC College Application Day took place November 16, 2016. This event was well attended by the students and parents. ROMC Senior, DaQuon Wilson, was offered a full scholarship to Claflin University during the event.

The ROMC Board elections were held November 21, 2016. The results were as follows:

·  Mrs. Janie Davis, Parent Representative

·  Dr. Carolyn Donelan, Richland School District One Representative

·  Mr. William Martin, Richland School District One Representative

·  Mrs. Jeanette McBride, Community Representative

ROMC Master Teacher, Ms. Carla Brabham, ROMC Mentor Teacher, Mr. Benjamin Holladay, along with other members of the faculty have been instrumental in the success of the TAP Program. Due to their hard work and dedication to the program to improve student achievement, ROMC received a value added 5 score for this year. Mr. Dennis Dotterer, Director of SC Tap, explained to the board that the information used is based on the identifying targets for each student. Students are compared to themselves and their growth is measured over time. Since there was consistent growth among the students coupled with the value added 5, every certified teacher from the 2015-2016 school year will receive a monetary reward.

Board member, Dr. Diane Carr, made a motion to go into Executive Session at 9:16 a.m. The motion was seconded by Board Member, Dr. Jennifer Coleman and carried by all board members.

Executive Session ended and General Session Meeting reconvened at 10:23 a.m. The motions was made by Dr. Diane Carr and seconded by Dr. Jennifer Coleman and carried by all board members

Board member, Dr. Diane Carr made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:24 a.m. The motion was seconded by Board Member, Ms. Arnett Edmond and carried by all board members.
