MEMORANDUM

TO: All Administrators

FROM: John Mann, Director of Leadership Development

DATE: May 19, 2009

SUBJ: Leading Sustainable School Development (LSSD)

The Department of Leadership Development is excited to announce two new LSSD Cadres (7 and 8) for the 2009-2010 school year. Due to numerous requests for a summer training of LSSD, Cadre 7 will have one session in June and three in July (Day 1, 2, 3 and 4). The remaining sessions will be spread throughout the school year. Cadre 8 will begin in September. We will work to ensure that each cadre has a diverse membership representing a mixture of both Instructional and Instruction-Support Administrators (i.e. Principals, Directors, Assistant Principals and Supervisors). Program completers will received a minimum of 80 in-service points. You may register for and learn more information about this training opportunity through AVATAR

If you are interested in Cadre 7, which begins on June 30, please sign up in AVATAR by June 5.

This comprehensive training has been revised in order to maximize the value of the experience for each participant. The revised training targets the Florida Leadership Standards, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards, Pasco Strategic Plan and LSSD Capacities. This research-based leadership training will also include the following focus areas:

·  Leadership and Meeting Tools

·  Pasco Leadership Focus Areas and Practices

·  Technology Integration

·  Global Implications

·  21st Century Skills

Each Cadre will meet eleven times. This beneficial program is specifically designed to help Pasco County Leaders maximize their effectiveness. A great deal of time and energy has been invested in order to add relevance for participants. The expectation is that all administrators will take advantage of the opportunity to participate in LSSD and that all participants will attend each session. However, if you have a conflict with one of the days in the summer for Cadre 7, that day can be made up during Cadre 8. Assistant Principals and Supervisors need to receive permission from their direct supervisor prior to registering for the training.

We greatly appreciate your commitment to our district and to your professional development.
