Addition to Tri-Chair Guidelines. In the fall meeting of the standing committee tri-chairs, there was a suggestion to add a section to the Guidelines regarding inactive committee members. This proposed revision was reviewed by the tri-chairs and submitted to Executive Council for approval. The revision was approved and the Guidelines have been revised in Public Folders. The entire Tri-Chairs Guidelines document can be found under SCC Workgroup/Participatory Decision-making/The Guide/Tri-Chair Guidelines.doc. Here is just the added text on inactive members.

New Issues Submitted to Executive Council. In the October 22nd meeting, Executive Council reviewed four new Campus Issues: Self-Study Operational Items (#04), Testing Center (#05), AA Committee Name Change (#06), and Microwave Ovens in the Cafeteria (#07). Here are the forms for each of these issues.

Alternative Calendar. The SCC Alternative Calendar Feasibility study group, in Phase one, has requested Instructional Deans and Department Chairs to develop mock class schedules by November 14th using different weekly time schedules. This exercise will help to identify the do-ability of an alternative schedule and the areas where there are problems making a fit. Phase two of the SCC feasibility/impact study will occur after Thanksgiving. At that time, the study group will collect information from the classified staff, library faculty, counseling faculty, and all other college service staff on the impact of converting to a 16-week academic calendar. All of this information will be combined with similar data from the other LRCCD colleges for use by the LRCCD Coordinating group for their continued study to determine if any alternative calendar options are feasible and/or desirable for our District. Debbie Travis and Dennis Smith are SCCs representatives on the LRCCD Coordinating Group.

Recycling Chart. Here are the latest data on the percent of SCC's trash that is recycled. We are staying consistently above 30%, however, we still have to achieve 50% to meet the 2004 target level.

District-Wide Committee list on the Web. The list of the membership in district-wide committees is now available on the college web site at
