This Week’s Stewardship Reflection

In today’s readings, we hear how the Lord takes what is small and makes it great – a branch from the cedar, which, when planted will “put forth branches and bear fruit. It will become a majestic cedar;” and a mustard seed, the smallest of the seeds, which becomes a huge plant. And so He builds up His kingdom. He calls all of us to be His disciples, and though, in the eyes of the world, we may be insignificant, His call is great. When we answer the call and give ourselves to Him completely – offering Him all that we are – He will use us for great things – to bring others to Him, to make disciples of all nations, to build the Kingdom of God.

It is our responsibility to listen to His call, to recognize the gifts He has given us, and, using them for His greater glory, to answer the call by surrendering ourselves to the Lord. Without Him we are nothing, completely insignificant, but with Him we are called to greatness.

Father’s Day Prayer

Father, it is Your Commandment that we should honour our fathers;
Hear the prayers we offer You for them.
Grant them many years on earth and keep them in health of mind and body.
Bless their word and all they do.
Give them back a hundred-fold whatever they have done for us.
Inspire them with Your love and help them to fulfill Your holy law.
One day, may we be their comfort and support,
So that having enjoyed their affection on earth,
We may have the joy of being with them forever in Your home in Heaven.
Bless these men, that they may be strengthened as Christian fathers.
Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons and daughters,
May honour them always with a spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

ST. ALOYSIUS’ NEWS
FEAST OF ST. ALOYSIUS GONZAGA – JUNE 21st
Who would be a good patron saint for young people? Who would make a good advocate and intercessor for young people and their prayers in Heaven? It might be someone who faced the same kinds of challenges that young people face today, like peer pressure, and difficulties in choosing and pursuing a vocation.
Saint Aloysius Gonzaga is a wonderful example. Despite being among very rough and impure people, and despite many arguments from his parents, he maintained a pure heart, and pursued his desire to become a Jesuit priest.
Prayer:
God of all heavenly gifts, You gave Saint Aloysius both a wonderful innocence of life and a deep spirit of penance. Through his merits grant that we may imitate his penitence and purity. Amen.

PARISH BULLETIN
Please note that this week is the last issue of our parish bulletin before the summer months. A brief newsletter will follow, including a schedule of Mass intentions for July and August, and a list of summer birthdays and anniversaries. Our parish bulletin will resume in September.
BROWN BAG SUNDAY
We invite everyone to participate in this month’s Brown Bag project, which is an important mission to help feed the needy families in our area. Donations of non-perishable food items and/or canned goods will be collected next week, SUNDAY, JUNE 24th, at the back of the Church. You may use your own reusable grocery bags and we will have them returned to you the following week. Thank you for your generosity. / THANK YOU
To each and every one who has given so generously of their time and effort to assure that our parish life remains vibrant all year round, we offer our deepest gratitude and acknowledgment: to our organists and choirs (adult and children), our altar servers, all our Ministers of Hospitality and Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, to our lectors, our catechists, our sacristans, to our webmaster,
our office volunteers, H.O.P.E. members, and those who visit the sick and bring communion to our shut-ins, to the Social Committee, Pastoral Council and our wardens, to Fr. Paul, Fr. Lou and our occasional ministers, and to everyone who has acted as a true steward of our community, a great big thank you to all! Our St. Aloysius family is alive and well because of you. May God bless you and keep you safe always. Have a happy and restful summer!
HAPPY NEWS & SPECIAL MENTION
We are happy to announce the birth of a fifth great-grandson and seventh great-grandchild for ROSEMARY KELAHEAR! Luke Robert Erickson was born Saturday,
June 9th, 2012 at a healthy 7lbs. Congratulations to Rosemary and proud parents, Shauna & Robert. God bless your family!
We would also like to acknowledge Rosemary for the tremendous care she has given to the people of our parish over the years. Whether it be through the generous support provided by the Ladies of Ste. Anne, or the time she has given week after week to send out the parish bulletin and special issues like / the Catholic Times. She helps ensure that parishioners who have moved away or are shut-in know they are not forgotten. Thank you Rosemary, for your continued reach out to those who cannot be with us on a regular basis. Your care is a gift to so many! God Bless. ♥

“It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seed on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”
